  1. bp - it is cause she has nothing to contribute in an intellectual discussion about football, so her only way of coming up with anything is by slagging people all the time. but cut her some slack phil, she must be one of those women whom are not overly endowed with knowledge when it comes to the world game.
  2. given a little more notice, i would have made the trip north. other than liverpool, i am gonna be in sydney for new year and the first week afterwards, so if rovers have a game when i am there, then count me in. oh, while i'm at it sydney rovers will be in it too!!
  3. That is not a bad shout, somerset...not a bad shout at all. if barca do show interest in lucas and make some kind of offer for him in january, then if i am the boss, then i would be inclined to say forget the transfer fee, give us marquez (for example) as a straight swap. if he does go to barca, nobody can blame him at all. what a move it would be for the lad. playing in the nou camp every other week, a luxurious house on the east coast there and a salary that would have every chance of doubling. i am dissapointed though that he is making more noises publicly about being unhappy and wanting to leave....other than that, i say good luck to the lad.
  4. plain and simply, we were awful last night - all over the pitch. an awful performance from a bad england team, at the moment.
  5. i will be happy with a well earned point. whats more, the game is live on foxtel over here in australia!!
  6. I couldn't agree more mate. in the days of peter white, (god bless the man) he would have made sure that this pricing policy would have made headline news in the telegraph. it is plainly obvious in my eyes that the current people at the telegraph are not rovers fans. they should be promoting the club at every given opportunity, because the football club is such an important part of the town. damn, i wish i wasn't 12,000 miles away!!
  7. i would say taht is an interesting group we have got but certainly one that we can progress from.
  8. ok, i am gonna try and play devils advocate here. I think the people on here are not having a crack at anybody in particular, but more so at the group that "claim to be rovers fans but hardly every go" and those who claim that "it is too expensive" and would rather watch down the pub on the big screen, when in actual fact they will spend more money at the pub on a few rounds of drinks and ciggarettes. personally i feel that this group of people are coming up with any and every excuse they can think of. it is also these people who whinge and complain the most. all those who don't go will really have something to cry about if rovers ever go under, and then come out and say "the club didn't do enough to attract the fans"
  9. momentum is a great thing, and at this moment in time we have the momentum and are gaining with every game played. i don't expect us to lose this game, rather a very professional job done and progress to the group stage.
  10. i agree with you abbey. however, sparky might be handing lucas the armband to show him that he is really important to the club now, and hopefully in the future aswell. i am just parying that he has an about turn and signs a new contract with us, and ###### off his agent.
  11. ray-von, i remember watching that game and if i am not mistaken, i think he might have scored one of the goals?? i also think that a lot of players mentioned on here never really got their chances at ewood. never given enough time to develop into the rovers way. not just the team and we played but the club as a whole.
  12. lets go back into the 80's. some of the older members of this board would remember a bloke called paul mackinnon!! if ever there was a bloke who looked like a duck out of water, and must have wondered what planet he was on, this is your man!!
  13. i would be more than happy with keeping the good form going and coming home with a well earned point. if we play we enough to get ourselves into a winning position, then great and we must take that opportunity. 1-1
  14. very interesting article. now of course all of these people involved are gonna deny, any involvment at all. the interesting thing about the possiblility of lucas going to liverpool recently, is that it brings to the fore that "was this harrison bloke" gonna get a back hander from the scousers if lucas signed?? which if true certainly tells us and it should lucas too - that his agent was not actually working for his client, rather trying to do it so taht he might receive a substantial amount of a back hander. no doubt that this is certainly not the end of this controversy, and i am hoping we can see more of it and that lucas sacks this buy and signs a new contract with rovers.
  15. pleasure, if you look at both of their goals yesterday. the 1st one could really be blamed on anybody, other than the strikers and brad. you can blame the midfielders for not tracking barton's run, but then again you could blame either of the centre half's for allowing him to run right through the middle of the defence. the 2nd one, well that is just one of those things. the cross came over and rather than let the ball go past him without any effort. he tried to clear it and ended up slicing it past brad.....where i would much rather him make an effort to clear the ball, than not at all. so to say that he has no communication, poor position play, slack marking and slow at anticipating danger - you should really say that all of our defenders at the moment cause in every game we have played, it looks like we have been cut to shreds at the back.
  16. not bothered what the score is, as long as we add another good performance and get 3 points. i would like to see tuges score.
  17. two good goals from us, but in very different ways. their goals, where extremely shoddy defending and have to say bad keeping aswell, for their 2nd goal. need to tighten up quite a bit!!
  18. a little dissapointed that we didn't get the victory. however, 2-2 away from home in the first leg is a very good result for us. the home legs will be even more nerve racking, with the prospect of group stage qualification at stake. by the sounds of the commentators, rovers looked knackered at the end of the game, which i hope will not have an effect on them for sunday afternoon. once again, good result and looking forward to the next leg.
  19. i had a dream last night, that rovers won 1-0. i am pretty sure the game was against sheffield untied but it was played at white hart lane. number 9 scored the winner for rovers. with that aside, i think we can win the game, we need to start to control the midfield a lot more, and run directly at the centre halfs.
  20. i certainly wouldn't mind stephane coming back to ewood to play for rovers. always thought he is a good solid pro, and one with good ball skills aswell. really hope this happens.
  21. i was rthinking the same thing krislu...we seem to be looking at guys that are probably at the end of their peak. sooner or later we are gonna have to spend some cash on a quality young player. quality is not that much of an issue at the back for us, whereas the centre of midfield almost certainly is.
  22. i can't find anything at all to do with that clarey. would be totally nice though if he does sign a new contract and at the reported 40,000 per week we should be able to afford that easily.
  23. I am almost lost for words on how many times this ###### has done this in football and seemingly getting away with it. nobody will convince me that 6 weeks and 120k, will hurt him. the fa needs to adopt the same kind of treatment to repeat offenders, much like the world anti doping agency does, to drug cheats.
  24. the two boys that have signed for west ham this week, well there is more to it than just a couple of new players on transfers. 12 months ago there was a company that wanted to buy out the hammers, but for whatever reason, it did not happen. the company in question is MSI, an international management company ( i believe). this year, the same company have come back to west ham, and west ham have turned around and agreed on the previso that tevez and mascherano sign for the hammers. if you are putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 4, then you would be right in thinking that these two players are managed by MSI. now for all of you that are wondering why on earth these 2 lads did not go to any of the massive english clubs...then you now know why. expect by the start of next season for the boleyn grounf to be re-developed withe the corners filled in (maybe) and for west ham to have been bought out by MSI. having read the interview with tevez on the bbc website and his reasons for going to west ham, what crap. he went there because his management company have told him to.
