  1. As others have said, Wharton is more likely to be given a decent chance of first team football at Palace. If he goes to Newcastle, (or another bigger club), he will likely rot in the reserves and get loaned back to the Championship. For all those people knocking Palace, (and yes, I was there in ‘89), we would do anything to be in their shoes.
  2. I disagree and think the evidence is pretty clear. Batth is a good example. The owners have meddled in football matters from the off, and it’s one of the reasons we (and they) are in such a mess.
  3. No, they wouldn’t, and this is why it was merely reshuffling the deckchairs when they changed the model from manager to DOF / Head Coach. Broughton and JDT have no real autonomy.
  4. Hope O’Riordan has a great career at Rovers, but it’s just more of the same - sign a youngster and hope to add value. We badly need some players for the here and now. Our obsession with youth will lead to League One.
  5. Surely, it’s in a potential buying club’s interests to keep any bid quiet, for fear of others making an offer. You could argue it’s in the selling club’s interest to leak a bid, to try and start an auction. On the flip side, however, if the player’s present club wants to sell, it risks annoying the club that has bid.
  6. How would that affect Crystal Palace's transfer strategy?
  7. Personally, I think it’s too late to go down that avenue. It would look like an afterthought. We would’ve needed to highlight that during the initial protests. I abhor the ill treatment of animals, but, let’s be honest, our beef with Venky’s is how they have run our football club.
  8. It's available generally via BBC iplayer and it's on BBC One Wales, so that can be accessed readily, via Sky etc.
  9. It was a throwaway line whilst having a coffee in town. It’s not mandatory for you to quote every post I write. Yes, probably, but it’s the type of signing we are likely to make (if any).
  10. Just what we need for a relegation scrap. Does Gregg have a dartboard with random, lower league European players names on instead of numbers? Screwed up piece of paper on standby.
  11. Yes, sorry, I fell into the commentators common error there, (ironic cheers), but it was late 🙂
  12. JDT far more sinned against than sinner. Fed a pack of lies about “the project”, pleaded for the club to sign experience, (rejected), and living off scraps thrown to him by Gregg. Not the right man for our circumstances, but the likes of Warnock wouldn’t be asked under this set up. We would only replace like for like.
  13. I think it’s very important that we win this game. We’re not going to Wembley, (and quite possibly no further than the 5th round), but the players and supporters badly need a lift, and winning can breed winning, (okay, we lost at WBA but QPR is more winnable). A loss, on the other hand ,would further damage morale, on and off the pitch.
  14. Ambition and, crucially, owned and run by people who cared about the club.
  15. Agreed, but Saxton was the manager and would’ve had the biggest say on who was bought and sold. JDT is living off scraps from the owners and Broughton.
  16. ……and him with us. Yes, realistically he has two choices now - stick it out and hope we can finish the season a bit stronger, (unlikely, I know), to repair his reputation, or walk out. Then he can re-assess in the Summer.
  17. My comment was aimed at personnel in the set up at Rovers at this time (ie Waggott and Broughton), rather than at the DOF model in general. I do think an experienced manager, with good contacts, is more appropriate when you are skint, or perhaps a DOF with more experience of transfer dealings in this country, (eg a former manager). I don't blame Tomasson, but he isn't the manager, and he isn't the right fit for our current circumstances. If the club changed the set - up tomorrow, you would be on here saying it was the right decision. The chances of us making some good signings before Feb 2nd are remote. These owners will never get it right. If you still can't see that, you never will. You say you have a positive take on life, but it just looks silly and naive when you allow that to affect your judgement about the current state of Blackburn Rovers, and then try to ram that down everyone's throat.
  18. Agreed, but he is clearly content to let JDT do the talking, ie the easy option. Broughton and Waggott happy to lurk in the shadows, both probably thinking the other should be doing more.
  19. I wouldn’t trust the bloke as far as I could throw him, but he will justify his silence by saying he is waiting for the Window to end. The whole set up is just absolute garbage, and the taps being turned off just makes our vanity project even more ludicrous. What the current situation cries out for is a pragmatist, who is completely focussed on getting results. Broughton or that kind of manager? Not a difficult choice. Won’t happen and we just have to hope the current leeway from the bottom three saves us.
