  1. I think we’ll probably just survive this season. Next season could be grim from the get-go.
  2. How much did Luton spend last season? Broughton is not the main villain, we all know that, and he didn’t appoint himself. However, especially given the current circumstances, I think he’s way out of his depth.
  3. You might be right , but that would put Broughton in a very strange position. I think it’s more likely it would be a young head coach, who would be happy to tow the line.
  4. This is the whole crux of him being head coach and not manager. He is powerless re - transfers. That’s Broughton’s remit, but in reality it’s completely up to our magnificent owners. Hooray!
  5. I’d even settle for being competitive in the Championship, with a genuine ambition for promotion, and where the primary aim is to win matches. Anyway, back on topic, wonder where Gregg is with his bag of lollipops today?
  6. ……somehow. (‘Life in One Day’, by the poptabulous Howard Jones).
  7. I feel very sorry for JDT. Unfortunately, his stock falls with each defeat. He’s been badly let down by the club.
  8. Thanks for posting this. The stats as compiled by someone watching without red rose tinted glasses on. Of course, even if they had been more favourable to Rovers, the only stat that really counts is the score line.
  9. 1/ I didn’t make the original point about no plan B. 2/ The significant thing I witnessed was a combination of our keeper and a very weak bench costing us the game. 3/ Before you ask, no, I couldn’t have done any better in goal or coming off the bench.
  10. Only two of those were signed this season, and it’s clearly not enough to mitigate for the departure of senior players. We are a development club. I don’t agree with everything Chris Sutton says, but he called it earlier this season.
  11. In proportion with more experienced players, one or two youngsters on loan is fine, as long as the primary aim of the club is to win games. People can try and defend it all they like, but the fact is we have quite blatantly been reduced to no more than a development club with zero ambition. The argument that we are having to do it is neither here nor there in my book. It’s the final season I am going to tolerate it.
  12. "Got a young player who's nowhere near ready for your first team but don't want to bung him in the U21's? No problem - Send him to the Blackburn Rovers young player development service. Young players are our obsession, no matter what the results".
  13. and one of the reasons there is no Plan B is because player development and adding value are seen as more important than winning games.
  14. Agreed, but the point is that he was already contributing to the team in the most important way, (and he's not even a striker).
  15. I agree that his current scoring record has surpassed expectations, and there were times at the beginning of last season that he looked a little lost. However, even then he still chipped in with a few goals.
  16. …….. £10 a ticket, (max) or they probably will have more.
  17. Come now, tomphil, we all know everything’s tickety boo since we changed the structure and have Broughton as DOF 😉
  18. Blimey, if we were able to gazzump other clubs on wages, they can’t have been that bothered.
  19. If it’s on a tv channel that can be easily accessed (eg S4C) it needs to be £10 a ticket again, or Wrexham fans will outnumber us.
  20. I’m a train driver and occasional social care worker. If it was a requirement to be employed in football to post an opinion on here, it would be pretty quiet. Like you, I want the best for Rovers.
  21. We are 17th in the league, and falling. Certainly not all his fault, and he didn’t appoint himself. The perception was that he was the man behind a very strong Glimt youth team, with many of those players forming the backbone of a golden age for their first team. A Norwegian journalist enlightened us that his time at the club came after that. In the bigger picture, any failings are obviously down to the owners. Oh, and I don’t work in professional football, and neither do you.
  22. The blame for our current predicament (away from the brief, enjoyable escapism of a cup win against lower league opponents) clearly lies with the owners, and I agree that they are hardly a draw for a competent, experienced DOF. It doesn’t really matter what structure they install, because they have demonstrated time and again they are never going to run the club properly. Broughton is only our DOF because of the above,
  23. Patronising. You clearly hadn’t understood the context of my post. You are entitled to your opinion, but mine remains that Broughton is another chancer, typical of Venkys reign.
