The Relegation Thread (15th edition)

It’s a big ask for Rotherham to catch us (12 points needed) - although they have four more games to do so. They play Luton, Boro and QPR all on the beach with nothing to play for (like Bristol City whom they beat). They also play Rovers at home. That would be enough to overtake us. Then it’s a straight head to head as they play a lot of the same teams as us. There are enough six pointers in there for us to be favourites for 22nd place by the 8th May. That final day against Big Club could be a relegation decider. I am very worried. We really need a win against Cardiff and two draws. With Mowbray sat in the dugout like a pigeon on a park bench, I’m unconvinced we will get them. -

After the weekend, we face 5 teams who are below us. Everyone of them will be fighting for their lives and/or looking to overtake us. What have you seen in recent performances that gives you any comfort or hope that we would come out on top in a one-off game with any of them? -
Summer transfer window 2021.

Rules are rules? It may make no sense “to me”. Haven't you (and they) noticed there is a global pandemic and a lockdown preventing people attending? Utter nonsense. -
Summer transfer window 2021.

Is this going to be discussed on two threads then? Nothing in that story makes sense. -
That story makes no sense. The EFL are enforcing FFP rules during a pandemic? This season should have been removed from the metric - talk about turkeys voting for Christmas. Madness. With all of these teams supposedly impacted, ‘healthy teams’ at the bottom end of the table should be shouting about points deductions. Some clubs taking the transfer embargo early? What, ahead of the transfer window? How does that even translate into a punishment? Not being able to re-register existing players? The pandemic will prevent players being sold to the PL in the Summer? Why? PL teams have continued to have the vast majority of their income so won’t be financially hurting nor would restrictions prevent players moving. Players still moved last Summer at the height of the pandemic and with no vaccine. Sounds like absolute BS. But surely it must be true if it’s in the DM...

I certainly fancy Rotherham to get four wins from ten before we get two wins from six. The relegation points threshold is rising very quickly and I don’t see where our next win is coming from. -
A performance-related coach in a results-driven sport. Well that can’t end well. Maybe if our possession stats drop but results improve he’ll go then, eh? The guy is taking the mick out of every single one of us. Lockdown has been the second best thing* to happen to Mowbray. Having no fans on his back, no booing in the ground. Will be very interesting to see how his relationship with the press develops if this run continues.

Coyle was sacked when it was “too late”. A decent Championship manager would have saved us but Mowbray’s supporters would have us believe that he wasn’t culpable. Will they again wait too long to make a change again? Was it Pasha who made the decision and spoke to the owners? No chance Waggott will do anything so we are completely relying on Suhail to act. I guess with such rich owners, who don’t care about results, it really doesn’t matter which division we are in - but surely it matters to Suhail? Does he have no pride? No shame? Even if Waggott and Mowbray apparently don’t? Don’t worry it isn’t hope talking but more of a last chance game of pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey.

Possible de facto league position (at the 40 game mark): If everyone below us was to win their games in hand 1-0 (except Rotherham who lose three but win against Birmingham) the table would look like this (I think)... 12 Huddersfield 40 (-9) 49 13 Preston 40 (-9) 48 14 Rovers 40 (+5) 46 15 Coventry 40 (-17) 45 16 Derby 40 (-21) 43 17 Rotherham 40 (-10) 41 18 Birmingham 40 (-21) 41 19 Sheff Weds 40 (-18) 38 20 Wycombe 40 (-33) 33 We would be 5 points above relegation with six games remaining. All eyes are on Rotherham continuing to lose more than us and Wycombe’s revival being short lived. -
Good or bad Friday depending on the result

In this hypothetical scenario, am I someone who paints themselves as being honourable and have I said in the press that I will walk away if I have become a burden? What you appear to be suggesting is that Mowbray has become delusional and believes, despite the obvious, that he is doing a good job. -
Covid testing would be the death knell for football. I won’t be buying a ST if I’m expected to have a test prior to attending. Is there a refund on your ticket if you test positive? Will you be allowed to attend without a mask if you test negative? Will singing, shouting and cheering be allowed? If people don’t want to have a vaccine then it’s their decision. They will simply have to take their chances - as they do with flu. Everything should be getting back to normal by the start of next season.

I didn’t mean fans boycotting games I meant club meetings. But there is clearly a danger that some of these posts are getting close to the bone for a few folk so I’ll leave it there for now. I’ve said my piece.
