  1. A very impressive result. Stoke don't concede many and are tough to beat. They do feel like a club that is going nowhere though and their transfer policy is to sign players past their best. We have a very impressive young team. Incredible that we have so many injuries to our more experienced players yet can still pull off a result like today. Preston losing to two late goals feels very good too after their late win against us 2 weeks ago.
  2. Spot on. We were destroying them second half and then they bring on a load of subs who change the momentum. We simply cannot do that as we're relying on someone like Markanday to swing the game in our favour.
  3. Derby games are battles and made for teams with warriors. We don't have many of those so we often get bullied and end up losing.
  4. Why do we concede so many late goals? It's simple, our subs always make us weaker and the opposition gain an advantage. Markanday is hopeless.
  5. Classic Rovers. Weak defensively and not clinical enough. Very clear that we're heading for a mid table finish.
  6. Not sure how we're losing but story of our season. Not sure what's happened to Siggy recently. Started off the season so well but now looks very poor. He'll come off at HT with Leonard coming on instead I'd imagine.
  7. Our chances of winning this game improved drastically when Wharton's red was overturned. Not because Wharton is a brilliant defender but because it means we don't have to have a complete reshuffle and a makeshift back 4. Brittain would have been at LB, Pickering at CH, and Trav at RB. Chances of getting a result with that back 4 and GK that can't cope with crosses would have been pretty low. Tough game still, but I think we'll win. Preston have overperformed in the first part of the season and are now levelling out. We, on the other hand, are a good side and should have more points on the board.
  8. Tronstad was excellent again today. He's made a massive difference since coming into the side. He doesn't do anything outstanding but he smells danger well and always seem to be in the right place to pick up the loose balls. He's also very neat and tidy on the ball and rarely loses it. Really good signing.
  9. I think Leo will come good but he's not at the level required at the moment imo. We don't have a good GK in our ranks right now which is a concern.
  10. Excellent result. I thought before the game it would be a tough game but I underestimated how bad Norwich are. We completely outclassed them. Hill with an absolute defensive masterclass. He's a top player. Dolan had one of his best games in a Rovers shirt I thought. Sammie did what Sammie does. I felt Wharton got some of the ball and I didn't think it was a red. But I doubt it will be overturned as it's not an obvious mistake from the ref. The injuries are stacking up which is a concern. Intl break will come at a good time for us but one game to get through first.
  11. Excellent half. We need that third goal to kill it off. It would be criminal if we let a dreadful Norwich side get anything from this game. Wagner will be gone after today.
  12. There's no doubt Telalovic was on our Z list of targets. As the deadline got closer, a decision had to be made on whether we sign a Z lister or no striker at all. No striker at all would have been a PR disaster. Telalovic is so far off it that I don't think he'll ever get a run of games here. Once Gally is back I don't think Tel will even make the bench. Only seen brief cameos like everyone else but I'm pretty confident in saying he won't make it. Leonard, on the other hand, is a real prospect. Think he's going to be a very player. Ennis is a good player too but completely out of shape.
  13. That was awful. Swansea are a poor side but we didn't turn up today.
  14. A game we should win and probably will. Yet again, this is the championship so anything could happen. Big blow with Hyam out as he and Szmodics are our best players. Doesn't sound like he'll be out for too long though, probably 2-3 weeks.
  15. Interesting that not one of the past three managers we've beaten have said that we were the best team they've played this season. Funny how opposition managers no longer heap praise on you when they haven't banged in 3-4 goals and created a zillion chances... This is a much better style of football imo. It's far more measured and pragmatic and one that will yield very positive results, as we're already seeing. If we had the quality of a Leeds or Leicester then I'd be up for for all out attack football but we don't unfortunately. JDT has quickly adapted the game plan to his credit, even though it's not quite how he wants his teams to play.
  16. That's an excellent result. Not many teams will win there. We looked miles better than them. They chuck everything at you but don't have a lot of quality. Tronstad and Hill have made a huge difference to this side.
  17. I feel like Leo will develop into a good GK but he doesn't look ready yet. I don't have any confidence Pears will become a good GK.
  18. We've been the far superior team. A set piece goal is my only worry.
  19. How many goals and points have our GKs cost us this season? Really hard to come back from a goal behind in this league.
  20. Anyone who thought we made a mistake in signing Hill over Batth in the summer now feels pretty silly. I include myself in that list!
  21. Completely agree. Those midfield two are a lot more disciplined in their defensive work and don't get overrun. That's really helped Carter too.
  22. Phew! That wasn't comfortable at all but a really good win. A game we needed to win really. Tronstad, Hill, and Carter were all excellent. One bit of quality from Dolan to win us the game. The gung ho football has been axed which is good to see. Less entertainment but we will see better results.
