  1. Ditto us! 5 points from 5 games and haven't won any of the last 4. 4 sides just out of the 6---Preston, Sheff Utd, Luton and Forest have done much better than we have over the last 5 games. Essential we turn it around starting this weekend.
  2. Well there hasn't been been a result but nobody up there is competing. Pickering is a good crosser too but we don't get adequate reward for it.
  3. I thought Brereton was excellent. The one player on either side who looked like he could win the game. The way he's checked by 2 defenders but can pull away from them and bear down on goal is outstanding. He has learned so much in the last few months. The finish for the second off-side "goal" was brilliant. A few other observations: Why did we persist with the big diagonal pass? The player receiving was invariably trying to control a ball over head-height when standing on the touch-line! A non-percentage option. Carrol---still worth his place-would have been very useful for us. Giles is a good crosser but there's not really any target for him. Wharton, VanHecke and Nyambe---absolutely outstanding. Very sad that 2 will likely leave us. Finally, if we play like we did for that 2nd half for the rest of the season, we will at least make top 6.
  4. I would support suspending him over the River Darwen!
  5. You're going to lose a lot of games 1-0. So are we.
  6. Well I'm not messing with anyone! Couldn't agree more on your last sentence. I've always said he was the best player I ever saw and that includes Best, Law, Matthews (though late in his career), Finney(ditto) and anyone else but, factually, he did live in and went to school in the Ewood area as a child. He never went to school or lived in Darwen till adulthood--i've no idea when he first lived there. So that makes him a Blackburner for me. Doesn't really matter does it? He was and is a Rover and arguably the greatest Rover of them all. Have to pass on Bob Crompton's claim to that description but clearly he has one. But no statue! "His latest girlfriend"!! Bloody hell, he's in his eighties! Enjoy it while you can Dug!
  7. I'd no idea where he lives now but he lived within a stone's throw of Ewood as a child and went go the locally, now demolished Primary school. That's where he grew up so that makes him a Blackburner for me!
  8. I don't see Burnley making up a 7 point gap tbh given that they've only won one game in over half a season. That whole bottom 3 are in real danger of being cast adrift.
  9. Duggie never lived in Darwen though? Was he born at Bull Hill?
  10. I actually agree with that so long as its a rolling contract. Don't want him messing about for 3 years then suddenly discovering his mojo. I have said all along we will never be promoted with Mowbray. If we make the play-offs and I am not confident we will, I'd wager he'd be out-thought by other managers. But conversely Gav, if he doesn't make the play-offs and remember we were 7 points clear, should he go? I believe strongly he should.
  11. So, you have writ often and large about huge impending changes at Ewood without any details at all and without any time frame. If the owners have seen the light and big changes are afoot, what's stopping them, given that this is the best chance we've had of getting back to the Premiership since we were relegated by these idiot owners eleven years ago? You'd think they would hurry at least some of them along since we are in the top 6 but out of form. Since its presumably good news, why can't it be shared with other Rovers supporters? Would cheer us up--a good thing surely? Or are these changes long-term?---ie Venky jam tomorrow. TBH if you continue to post about plans you can't or won't disclose, what use are you? You come across as bumming yourself up and treating the rest of us as lesser beings.
  12. I don't get this, if you're convinced he won't take us up, what's the point of another chance ie another season without going up. He's had enough time and he's had enough money. There has to be some ruthlessness in football, some single-mindedness. Like pushing Speedie out because it was the only way to get Shearer. Not fair, not pretty, but effective. Mowbrey's had more than enough chances, he makes too many mistakes and always will.
  13. We're not really third are we when the chasers have played their games in hand? Anyway 3rd,4th,5th and 6th are all the same to me--the play-offs are a lottery and automatic promotion is the goal. You confident we'll get one of those 6 positions?
  14. And conversely if he fails to get us promoted, you'll be the first to say it wasn't his fault.
  15. I don't think anyone has suggested we buy a lump! But we didn't buy anyone to fill that role, others did.
  16. You said it made sense that we didn't bring a no 9 in in January. It didn't make sense, it doesn't. Why we could only bring in "a genuine goal threat who could play as a wide striker?" No wonder we couldn't find one! Can we cut out all that crap you've bought into and get back to basics? If you can't score you can't win. Simple!
  17. And hopefully this site has it completely wrong! https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-man-united-in-pole-position-to-sign-ashley-phillips-ahead-of-chelsea-tottenham-and-everton/
  18. Make your mind up! We did need a central goal-scorer. It was obvious at the time, its even more so now. We can't score can we?
  19. That statue's looking a way off though Gav?
  20. Not now maybe but if we fall out of the 6, and that's looks distinctly likely, I can't see him being at Ewood next season. I was going to say Venkys surely aren't that stupid but instantly withdrew that thought.
  21. Yep, we'll do well to beat Preston at the moment. 😂
  22. To me he's a number 10 but then so is Dack and Rothwell. He needs to play behind a front 2 ideally. Our lack of central strikers is a the root of this. We are an unbalanced side.
  23. You're illustrating what I've felt for some seasons now---the most interesting battle in the Premiership now is who goes down--the League of Fear! Leicester gave us some fun for one season, now its back to normal. If West Ham made top 4 that would be a change but I won't be investing any emotion in it!
  24. Well if he's signed up to a long-term contract with us, then that's all we can do. Doesn't matter what his agents say, we can let him go when it best suits us and reap a huge transfer fee! All this is in the future and I can't wait to seem him in our first team when the time is right.
