  1. I'm basing it on the notion that he's never received a pay rise since he left Oxford to join us. Do you know any different?
  2. Well, yes it would. Looks less likely prospect today than it did however.
  3. Well he could have gone to Chicago Fire then Den. Anywhere But Bournemouth.
  4. If Rothwell helps Bournemouth to promotion what will £3M matter to them?If Rothwell had had regular pay rises commensurate with his value to the team, this would never have happened. Same goes for our other unsettled players. You can make a purse out of a sow's ear if you want to but you'll never convince me. This is a real kick in the guts.
  5. Whether we should sell Rothwell now is one issue. But no way should we strengthen Bournemouth or another of our promotion rivals. This is TM's decision. He obviously thinks he can do better with the money. He's always under-rated Rothwell and to keep him on the same rate as when he first arrived from Oxford, if true, is just plain dumb and no way to run a football club. No wonder we face a crisis at the end of the season with other players. We used to regularly reward players who turned out to be good 'uns in order to protect our investment. Whatever happened to that logical and beneficial policy? The onus is on TM now to really replace Rothwell, a very difficult job.
  6. Of course we will!! He is a good crosser of the ball and can cut in and shoot. So we'll see what else he can do won't we?
  7. I agree. If he stays and plays well to the end of the season, more clubs would be interested in him given they could get him for free. This would translate to a massive pay rise for him. Win-Win you would think.
  8. and we were weak, Edun is very risky in that position.
  9. A bit weak defensively down the left? Wharton exposed?
  10. Bollocks or speculation? It is an MB after all. Personally I hope most of it does turn out to be bollocks!
  11. Well we'll see won't we? I hope I'm wrong about him.
  12. You'd have to think that particular source has a vested interest in stirring the wasp's nest though. Getting desperate as Monday approaches. If we were to sell him to Bournemouth at this point and they were promoted ahead of us, then what use would the fee we got for him be, even if it was £4M? We would be a laughing stock.
  13. Is there any difference between what Bournemouth are doing to us re Rothwell and what we have done to Aberdeen re Hedges? Bit rich of us to take the moral ground.
  14. Not seen as a "greedy bastard" by me.
  15. Yesterday the LT was quoting Mowbray as denying Hedges was coming here! Or did I dream that one? He's 26, if he was a good 'un he would have been coaxed south long ago. Not the signing of a team expecting to be in the Premiership next season. imo of course, we'll just have to wait and see.
  16. I scored a goal just like that a few decades ago! Admittedly it was at a slightly lower level....
  17. You don't see pace as essential in all that? Odd.
  18. I think Nyambe is much under-rated. I would be delighted if he remained at the club and fought with Zeefuik for that right wing-back spot.
  19. Could we count Wimbledon?
  20. Everything has come right at once this season! He's sorted out the defence after seasons of neglect, the loans are contributing hugely, both strikers are scoring. Its a miracle I never expected to see while he was in charge. By any logical reasoning he should have gone during that horror run we experienced last season but he didn't and I'm now glad he didn't. The only blight on the horizon is the contract situation, but I doubt Mowbray is responsible for that
  21. Yes--I was thinking we could build a song for him around that old Belafonte number! He's gonna be a crowd favourite alright!
  22. If you look at the last 5 games, Fulham and QPR have done better than we have. Expecting Fulham to finish first but getting really edgy about QPR!
  23. Well you're right but the problem was that TM pushed for it when we hardly had 2 centre-backs to choose from, never mind 3!
  24. Yes-- because the officials are so bad.
