Its a serious blow to us though if/when he goes. All that time spent developing him, we got virtually nothing from him for 2 years. Now, when we're expecting a goal from nowhere every game, he's off! If anyone says "time for Gallacher to step up" I think that would push me over the edge!

You have to pay a player what he's worth regardless of age. Money paid to keep Philips at Ewood for another 3 seasons maybe, would represent an investment not a cost. If he carries on along the trajectory everyone expects then he will be worth a fortune. Every EPL club will want him. Put simply----Philips is a Special Case.

I suspect we couldn't buy a better centre-back than Philips and pay him less than £10000 a week.

I don't think he'll get a better mentor than Tomasson.

On the basis of his value to us in a promotion campaign, I'm wondering if we should gamble and keep him? Would have lost without him? 2 gambles that have to be dealt with right---Brereton and Phlips. Is our admin up to the challenge? So over the moon right now, great time to be a Rover!

His football was boring, his teams underperformed, his tactics were baffling as were his substitutions and his player were nothing like as fit or motivated as they are now. In 5 years never remotely had a Cup run. That's not normal for us even in bad times. We were just paddling along in the slow lane watching less talented squad overtake us. A 5 year "journey" and we went nowhere. "Of course, I'm pissing in the wind by daring to suggest such heresy on here " NO need to play the martyr either!
