Have to sell the squad first though. -
Oh good!
-
Over 102 years since we won it. Growing up in the 60's I'd never have believed we wouldn't have won it again by now. Several semi-finals but never that last step. I don't expect to see us win it now nor ever see us in the Premier League again. lIfe's a bitch.

The Aynsley Pears depreciation thread.

Pears has done alright. He's a reasonable No2. We won't do better. Those late goals weren't his fault. -
Could get back into it! Hold those catches lads!
-
That dropped catch from Smith as opposed to the ripper of a catch from Labuschagne sums up the difference between the 2 teams. The Aussies are ruthless.
-
Aussies now playing real Test Cricket! On the way to a big lead I imagine. We have had good moments but compared to them we are amateurs. No dabbling at balls outside the off stump while the feet are stuck to the turf.

We have a mixture of players who are definitely capable of performing consistently in this League--Toth, Alebiosu, Trandstad, Cantwell etc, speculative gambles---Gueye,the 2 Japanese players, and those just making up the numbers to get us to 25---3 of your examples above fall into that category. There's no plan other than just carrying on from day to day, week to week as best we can. The trouble is the ones making up the numbers come on when players are tired and the game is in the balance. And the outcomes speak for themselves! I could add a 4th category---young lads from the Academy, and handled well they probably represent the best chance of a profit. -
-
248 for 6 so it won't be that bad Jim! They should get 300 at least from here and the pitch is already showing cracks so its not a complete disaster. No team has got to that score at the Gabba batting first and lost I believe.
-
Instant disaster! Stokes run out. Pair seemed really settled too.
-
Brook should be shot for that one. Played a wide ball from Starc, only the second ball since Starc came back on and caught in the slips. Just stupid.

If he wasn't why did the defender foul him? He didn't accidentally make contact did he? -

True. I suspect that Gaye would do very well in League 1 and attract offers from Championship clubs the season after. That's if he doesn't go abroad of course. -

That's a promotion for Pickering! (ridiculously). -

With all the injuries we have and the need to carefully manage the players do you not have a problem with Ribeiro and Pickering not playing? We are lacking defensively, particularly in the final phase of the game but these 2 who played regularly (and well) in a team that finished 7th are never picked, not even as substitutes. Aren't we shooting ourselves in the foot! -

Off to Arsenal? -

Same old every game. Rarely score more than 1 so every opposition team knows never to give up. Same subs at same time even though its failed almost every time. Any other manager would have carried on as we were or shored up the defence. Not us. We should be looking up at a Play-Off position after these last 2 games when we were in control for 99% of the games. Instead we are looking down. Gut wrenching. -

Wouldn't hurt if he learned to shoot. Noody has a decent shot on them with possible exception of Cantwell. -

Does any team concede late late goals like we do? -

Has to be a reason why Ribeiro and Pickering never feature. -
That's a good response! But short-term!
-
One thing that will go in your favour Parsons is travel. The way we are going, away games will be nearer in the future!
-
And off-sides, though even that's gone crazy---5 minutes to decide it was a hairs' breadth in it!.
-
Exactly---how can getting rid of your best assets and replacing them with mostly inferior ones justify the description of "overhaul"? Overhaul implies a plan.. This is just wish and hope. We finished 7th Chaddy! Remember?
