  1. "Venkys" and "to be fair"----doesn't really gell with me! Sorry!
  2. Pretty obvious that this was a major recommendation from the 2 auditor reports commissioned by the owners. (titled------" How to make money from a football club that has small crowds; buying and selling in the 2nd tier' )
  3. I went to the drawn Upton Park game where Byrom got 3. Terrible crowd atmosphere that day. Glad to get out alive.
  4. I guess we wait and see about the guy, not as if we have a choice.
  5. Sorry, he wasn't good enough. Had natural talent but soft, didn't exactly run himself into the ground and, apart from one great goal, didn't deliver.
  6. Rochina? In the Championship? Symbol of everything that was rotten about the club and ineffective as well. Would not suit us at all.
  7. We do break quickly though? That 4th goal on Saturday was a good example.
  8. Well if he's going to go, the more the merrier!
  9. C'mn--- you're Chaddy Chadwick not the Livesey Branch Kid!
  10. OK, fair do's and well said. BBC's was one report but there were several, relatively early in the piece, who reported that we had bid 6M and Forest had turned it down. We went back with a higher bid which was accepted. Must therefore have been 7M or very close? The lad's here, even bought a house hasn't he? I'd be astonished if this deal didn't do through in January. I feel its rather because its got a momentum of its own though,(rather like Charles and Diana's wedding!) than because Brereton has proved anything. You would argue he hasn't been given the chance but that proves TM doesn't feel he's ready or doesn't rate him so round and round we go. The England youth set-up chose Armstrong and Jason Lowe as well remember! So don't use that measure to assume he's a good player. We just have to hope with him, but his lack of time on the pitch is astonishing. As for signing players for monetary reasons, I really feel that's a key Venky trait and why they bought the club in the first place. Buy young players and cash in 2 or 3 years later.I want the owners to improve their club's stock but I don't trust them to believe that their real motivation. That's why I am keen for TM to do well and stay. At least he can protect us from their worst side to some extent!
  11. There are very few facts in football, overwhelmingly it's all about opinion. Armstrong looked a good striker last season in the middle. The only conclusion we can draw imo is that TM does not consider him good enough this season at a higher level. So he's stuck him out wide and, apart from that Leeds game, the general consensus is that he has been a disappointment. Sad for him because he is not in his preferred position. Whether we've won more games than we've lost is not, in itself, an argument for picking Armstrong out wide. We can always improve and ,indeed, we should have won more games than we have. Conway is a genuine winger and showed exactly what we have been missing all season. Your closing comment is purely your opinion and you produce no other evidence for it other than that's what you "think". We need proper wingers alright and I hope very much TM comes round to that point of view. At least we need that option, Conway proved it.
  12. 1) All the info on this transfer values it at 7M, there has never to my knowledge been any info to the contrary. You, of course, think you know better and have consistently implied that the figure is inflated without ever producing any evidence of any kind. It simply an assumption on your part. Not only is there" little chance" that this fee wasn't all paid upfront, there is no chance whatsoever and no-one has ever claimed it was! It simply isn't the way transfers are done. I don't see anything nefarious or dodgy about this transfer, I simply believe its a Venky transfer aimed at capital investment rather than football investment. TM doesn't seem to have the faith in Brereton that you and Chaddy do since he has never started a game and usually plays just a handful of minutes.. Yet in these cameos you and Chaddy seem to see magnificent talent in him. Travis looked good for 5 minutes too, think we could get 7M for him (in instalments of course)? 2) You've said it yourself! You've based your own opinion on Brereton's talent on "a handful of cameos"!! What else is there? And WE don't prefer to start a goal scoring number 10 ahead of Brereton! Tony Mowbray decides that which goes back to my Point one!
  13. I think I remember some blaming Raya I don't see what else he could have done? Bannon was left totally in the clear, in the 6 yard box. Don't see how Raya could have covered that!
  14. Only in the same way that you claim to have explained obvious contradictions in your posts. Many of us (most?) clearly don't find the explanations about Brereton very convincing. Judging by the way TM plays Brereton, he doesn't think this was a great signing either.
  15. So true. The problem is that Conway could start next game and be completely anonymous. What this game should show Mowbray is how we had an extra dimension to our attacking play because we had a genuine winger rather than a "wide forward" and that he should sign one in January.
  16. Sorry, "thanks"--- what for? What am I missing?
  17. Winger winger winger! That's my wish for Father Christmas!
  18. Pretty easy Chaddy with you sometimes. Your attitude to a loyal servant like Graham is insulting and embarrassing and its all about justifying your opinion that Graham should make way for Brereton. When the facts show you to be wrong, rather than accept it, you try to change the facts---ie he just scored 3 tap-ins. Absolutely pathetic.
  19. If we substituted "genuine winger" for "Conway" there's the lesson for TM to pick up on. No way Armstrong can supply that.
