  1. So what do you think of him as a manager then? Brereton is obviously not the only example is he?
  2. We are always X points off the Play-offs, it gets longer as the season progresses. Just like Bowyer---get close to Top 6 and we freeze. What Burnley did.
  3. That's where we seem to be.
  4. Future centre-back?
  5. I agree, we don't want another Mowbray do we?
  6. Assuming they ever will be!
  7. It helps to tell us why he's never picked, even when fit!
  8. No, not hard at all for me to understand, its the manager you have to convince! Seems to be hard for him to grasp eh? Maybe he has a different point of view? I note that I've asked you twice but you won't refer to him!!
  9. Of course I do! I'm talking about someone we signed over a year ago. I'm not talking about yesterday! You said he scores when he plays in the middle--you weren't talking about yesterday were you? So how about addressing the question I put to you? Is he not good enough to play and therefore TM has it right? Or is he a good central striker who is rarely picked in his best position because of the manager? Which is it?
  10. Ah, so its the mangers' fault! According to you, Brereton scores when he plays as a striker so its a pretty stupid manager who, since we're short of goals, doesn't play him regularly and in his "proper" position. Is that your position?
  11. Seems fine to me. What's wrong with it?
  12. Their likely attitude would most likely be "thank God I didn't have to pay for it"!
  13. Honestly, today was absolutely predictable. Whenever we have a sniff of the Top 6 and/or get a bigger crowd than usual, you just know what will happen. We'll be selling Groundhog Day season tickets at this rate.
  14. Exactly the case but too optimistic Jim! Will we supporters ever learn? Every time we get close to that Top 6, down we go and start up again. Been happening for years.
  15. You started off asking who cares if our billionaire owners were down £7M? You were told why it matters, now you criticise "the prevailing wisdom" on here as if you hadn't posted rubbish. That's what I mean by "stop digging"!
  16. We have to give him a chance , no-one else will anything like what we paid for him. Thing is, we need him now. You can't justify the transfer however hard you try. How is he a "quality footballer by the way?" What have you seen in him to make that assessment?
  17. Stop digging is my advice. Your original post was bad enough---don't try to shirt the blame to the rest of the Board! Whatever anyone thinks of Mowbray's transfer record, this particular one was spectacularly bad. Easily his worst.
  18. Curious post! Nobody's seen Brereton play more than a handful of games in his best position, because he hardly ever plays in any position. Who has a better view then? How?
  19. Exactly. Thanks for saving me the trouble ARA!
  20. I was going to post exactly the same thing. We would not have gone down but for them and nothing is too harsh a fate for them.
  21. So why £7M then. Couldn't we have got him for less? Or better still, not bothered and got 2 specialist defenders?
  22. That's a joke---isn't it?
  23. is it? This discussion started with me pointing out Norwich got one for nothing. Charlton got one better than any of our's, again for nothing. Sorry, its not common sense, its bullshit. Clubs have been recently promoted with out spending £12M on the entire team. Preston finished above us (again) last year and never spent anything like that, nor did they pay high wages. Burnley were the 5th highest profit-earners in the Premier League last season, they were promoted on a shoe-string. Sorry, but our's is a scatter-gun approach, I don't believe there is the level of planning and competence needed for promotion and I don't expect it.
  24. Is it? Really? When will top quality upfront be introduced then?
  25. McGinn? Looking terrific in the Premiership. Great buy.
