  1. Actually I think his "squat frame" is a positive for him. He's strong enough to survive the hard tackles (either he bounces off them or they bounce off him!), he has that low centre of gravity which enables him to twist and turn in close situations and, players of his shape don't seem so prone to muscular injuries (thigh strains and the like) the same as taller ones.
  2. I've asked, at least twice, has the Forum taken on board the opinions and ideas expressed on here. We do or did have Forum members on here? If they haven't what's the point of them? As for the surcharge Chaddy, Waggot has reiterated his support for something, he hasn't explained why our opinions on it are not valid.
  3. Its very simple really, clubs can either take Sky's money for live broadcasts of their games and have smaller crowds OR reject Sky's apparent wish to televise just about every game live. They can't take Sky's money AND expect fans to turn up in large numbers. When football loses its fans it loses its point. Waggot please note.
  4. I must admit to being distressed when Southgate got the job. I thought that if some of the most experienced managers in the world couldn't succeed how could Southgate have any hope? In retrospect Southgate has set England players free whereas the experienced managers repressed them.
  5. Let's hope that Venkys "understand what we are trying to do here"!
  6. My dream is that they sell to someone sensible and rich! Well, I can dream can't it?
  7. They will surely try the aerial route and exploit our central defence. Leeds were really dangerous in the second half against Brentford and finally scored via a headed cross. Other than that I thought they were surprisingly limited upfront. So, I'd expect at least one clanger back there, meaning we have to score. Prediction---we score first and end up with a draw.
  8. Chaddy, you post endless speculation but hound other posters to prove what they are posting is accurate. You are always asked questions which you never answer and when prodded further you reply "I've already answered that" And now you claim double standards! You are, thankfully, a true one-off!
  9. Given that Jack went to all that trouble (and Expense) to preserve the old Boardroom, he clearly had a love and respect for Rovers' history that did not rub off onto his family or anyone else he trusted to carry on his legacy. Shame on them.
  10. But on that Bentley hat-rick day the ground was nearly full! If you are going to be in the Premiership you need a ground that can cater for those big days when big teams bring thousands. I think 30000 is about right.
  11. When (if!) we get back to the Premiership, the size of the crowds will not matter from a financial point of view. Waggot's job then will be to manage all that TV money and up the sponsorship stakes. I think we'll see that the attendance figures sort themselves out in that scenario and we will get back to 20000+ a game. Many will be away supporters but so what? We can switch to moaning about transport and parking then! Happy days!
  12. That's a great scheme. Are there Forum members on here. Are they intending to pursue any of this?
  13. The damage was done before Waggot got here but it doesn't make sense for him to compound it.
  14. It would be nice if you could empathise with people who cannot afford to pay for Sky, Amazon and Netflix and stop being one of Thatcher's children for once. For decades, live cricket, for example, was free on the BBC. Poorer people are now deprived of it.
  15. Fair enough. I never put this thread up from a judgemental point of view anyway. A bit of nostalgia and also interesting because I never heard of it at the time (or I've forgotten) was my take. I just about remember Ben Thornley and who knows whether he would have gone on to be a superstar or not?
  16. I wasn't at the game he put Ardilles out of but those who were came back very angry about it.
  17. We really only got around 20000 fans when we were in the Premier League, sometimes rather less. The 25000 average was made up from away supporters. And, prices were cheaper then! Have to recognise reality I'm afraid. We have a relatively small pool of fans to draw on and it will take years to undo the damage Venkys have caused. Additionally the area is one of the poorest in the country. Income is increasingly dependent on sponsorship and broadcast rights and our club executives have to pull out all the stops there. In particular they should be agitating for a better rate and share of TV money.
  18. Well of course he would be and I'd put any doubts I had aside for the the duration of his hopefully successful run! The "caveat" I made about his past Premiership experience is simply the truth, doesn't mean he's doomed does it? I think if would be a very dull MB if everyone felt the same which is often how you seem to want it. Offering him a 6 year contract now was your suggestion, bit too deferential and naive, imo.
  19. I think you might have have hit the nail on the head with your 2nd sentence.
  20. As I said, if he gets us up, he deserves the chance to carry on. And then be judged on how we do. Would you have it any other way?
  21. Agree with Rover 99 on this, Waggot seems unbelievably clueless. He does not seem to have any understanding that anything he has done has reduced potential crowds. If he needs help, there were plenty of good suggestions on here. Read the thread Mr Waggot, we don't mind earning your salary for you!
  22. I think the vast majority of people on here do think Mowbray is the man to get us promoted. Or at least believe he should be given the chance. However I'd be less sure about whether he'd be the man to take us on from there. He does not have an imposing record of Premiership management after all. However, in my view, as I've already said, having got us up, TM would deserve his chance to continue to lead us. The problem on here is that some posters can't take any criticism of TM at all. He has his faults and they would be magnified in the Premiership. As for Warnock, he is good at getting teams promoted but that's where it ends.
  23. He'd also be much better in a side that attacked more consistently over the course of a game.
  24. I don't believe he'll go in January. I think Venkys are backing TM to achieve promotion.(not necessarily this season!). January window will be quite illuminating. Will TM get the opportunity to develop a promotion squad over 3 or 4 windows? Its been a good start.
