  1. You can't keep bringing up the Oxford game, it was a special occasion----a one-off. Unfortunately that applies to the ticket prices as well. Lesson is, if you want bigger crowds, lower the prices. It worked before.
  2. Surely Chaddy has Roversfan99 on ignore? Everybody else is on his list. Obviously can't resist a peek! -----clear case of discrimination if you ask me.
  3. Under Coyle we used to say it was because we were so unfit, we can hardly use that one now! I agree with those who think we don't keep the ball long enough, opposition can't score without it. That's a skill and organisation issue. You could throw confidence in there too, we do seem to panic.
  4. Not sure about "the new Tugay" but that little cameo was very impressive. We could do with more of that!
  5. Was just about to write this! Lets hope there's no other Crouches about!
  6. HA! Obviously it hasn't but the manager's job includes contingency plans for when it does. We lack adequate cover in key areas whereas we are overflowing with mid-fielders. If we can get through OK till January, well and good but.........
  7. We brought in 7(?) players in the transfer window but the areas of weakness which we all identified were not addressed. We didn't get a winger in but fair enough we did make an attempt for Chapman, we didn't buy a centre-back which is really coming back to haunt us with Mulgrew's injury, and we are still totally reliant on a 33 year old staying fit up-front. We can't rely on Rodwell coming good ,Armstrong is not good enough at this level and Brereton is "one for the future" the problem being that we are playing now. We didn't sign a keeper to compete with Raya and we just pray Raya stays fit. Looking back we didn't target the key areas of need.
  8. Crouch coming on was what unnerved our defence. I think they knew he'd do to them what he's done to so many defences over so many years. What a great character he is. When Raya made that double save from him, Crouch bent down to pat Raya on the shoulder.Terrific gesture he didn't have to make. Has a good line in self-deprecation too. When asked what he'd have been if he hadn't been a professional footballer his reply was----- a virgin.
  9. Sorry if its been mentioned but cracking goal from McGinn at the weekend.
  10. Love that mid-field 4, this could be just the right game to try it. Up-front's a worry though. Armstrong doesn't look the same player in this division and Brereton so far doesn't look any sort of player at all. Emphasises----hope to be wrong!!
  11. We never lost to Chelsea in the Premier League till Abramovitch catapulted them into the financial stratosphere!
  12. We were at panic-stations in defence the last few minutes. The lack of experience back there is telling. Needed an old head at centre-back but no Charlie sadly. Maybe this played a role in Rodwell's signing?
  13. Always pulled in 2 directions after a result like this! Overjoyed at the win of course but worried about how such a late collapse could affect future games. An opposition manager 2-0 down will tell his players " put the pressure on and they'll crumble" (unless they're Derby of course). Looks like Reed will become a first team fixture? Still, would have taken a draw before the game so got to be chuffed.
  14. Yes, remember that! Penalty was clear-cut as well!
  15. And Rovers were guilty of the same thing! Bump to the gate at Ewood and only found he wasn't playing when the teams were announced just before KO!
  16. I saw us win at Stoke early 60's. Cup-tie, 1-0 ,Duggie penalty. It was the time when Stanley Matthews came back to them but he was injured that day, as he invariably was!
  17. I think we attracted a lot of non-Rovers supporters at that time who simply wanted to see a high quality PL game. After all we had some of the biggest names in the game, the atmosphere was electric, the cavities were top class and you could almost always get a ticket. Somehow can't see that happening at the Turd! (apart from ALWAYS being able to get a ticket!).
  18. That's all anybody is saying. Nobody has written him off. Night night!
  19. How refreshing to come across someone who has absolute certainty over an issue. Very Rees-Mogg! The rest of us will just have to be satisfied with our opinions based on what we see.
  20. Eh? I thought we had already established that he's played in 38 Championship games for Forest and started 15 of them? Where's 50 come from? You've sent just about every other post on this thread---I'm wondering if you're his Dad!
  21. Well you've come round to my point of view, we have weaknesses which should have been addressed. We had the budget by the way, we chose to we spend it on Brereton. Time will tell whether that was right or wrong. Whichever way you look at it though we needed a striker who could play NOW, not in 6 months. Can't expect Graham not to succumb to injury at some point
