  1. If he sent Wharton off for illegally preventing a goal opportunity , doesn't the the fact that he made contact with the ball first render that decision incorrect? Because he touched the ball away, it wasn't a scoring opportunity anymore. Your view Arbitro? If the ref is saying that Wharton's left leg was the culprit and the tackle was reckless and dangerous and therefore worthy of a red card, then 1) it didn't seem that bad to me and 2) there were several such tackles in the game that were as bad or worse and the result was 2 yellows for Norwich.
  2. A classic "its the hope that kills you" post!! Good on ya, hope it comes true.
  3. It was conclusively over the line. Couldn't believe it.
  4. That Newcastle goal should never have stood. VAR clearly showed the ball went out of play before it was crossed for the goal. What's the use of it?
  5. Fair chance we'll get overrun in midfield unless JRC can miraculously be 2 men at the same time. No wonder he's injury prone. And any good work the team do will be wasted in a second by Flapper in goal. In summary, I've no confidence at all going into any game now. Sometimes we turn it on, most times we don't. Whatever the line-up. Hard being a Rovers supporter right now.
  6. Lovely!
  7. I got the date wrong---1949!
  8. Rovers v Man City-- 1952 I think. I have no recollection of the game at all as I was 2 years old and sitting on my Dad's shoulders! He told me Trautman was in goal for City, we had 3 penalties and missed 2! But really, on the day I was probably busy teething or wondering where my Teddy was!
  9. Ha! Some special circumstances there. You have to remember that attendances plunged at Ewood after that Cup Final disaster. We were building them up again with that 1963 team.
  10. Close--- 28000---looked it up!
  11. I did hear at the time, the players had been promised a pay rise at Christmas or bonus (whatever), and our shop-keeper board reneged. Something was definitely off at that game, the atmosphere was weird. You definitely got the impression Rovers were not focussed on the game. Big crowd too.
  12. Or Waggot!
  13. I was there Den! I've talked about the experience a few times on here. And I'm not up for repeating it, its too painful. My dad never went again after being Rovers fan all his life, (was at the 1928 Final! ) He was tempted back once after me enthusing about the football for months with Duggie, Pickering, McEvoy etc. Unfortunately he chose the Christmas West Ham Ewood fixture just after we'd spanked them 8-2 away and we lost 3-1 at Ewood. That was it for him "won't get fooled again!"
  14. I've not looked up the stats or anything but don't we always struggle against the lot, especially away? Apart from the never to be forgotten 7-2 of course when we did have a striker or two! Anyway, I expect to lose this one.
  15. I think we regretted selling Kaminski the day it happened. It was purely about Venkys and no money. Endless dilution of the squad for pennies. How many points will it cost us? How much money will it cost us in the end? No plan, no future, no hope as things stand
  16. That's a big call right now.....
  17. He didn't even punch throne for the goal, he just slapped it. Never seen anything like it.
  18. When we were promoted to the Premier League for the first time we finished 4th. And with only 2 new signings--mind you the signings were quite good! I agree with you about the ever-widening gap, all about money.
  19. Wasn't a pen--the first one. No intent, it hit him. You'd be furious if it had been awarded against us. We gave 2 goals away, that's the actual story of the match. Absolutely criminal. Forced to sell our best keeper, no money for a striker, result fucked at both ends(I'm sure someone can make a joke of that!) That first goal was absolutely ludicrous. What the heel did he think he was doing. Flapped it 8 yards to their player who couldn't miss(mind you, we would have!)
  20. "a little". You're joking surely? A lot!
  21. Great foresight on our part then? Wise decision.
