Venky’s v Indian Government (a)

I don't remember many saying that either. Its clear we were stagnating under them, they wouldn't finance Hughes" moderate plans when we were on the up. So shortsighted when he had us finishing 6th. Supporting him properly would have seen us attracting more buyers and them getting more money. But they wanted what they could get "now" and didn't care who from. -

To complete the quote "You have been here too long for all the good you have done, in the name of God ..GO!" Oliver Cromwell to the Long Parliament. 1660!! -
Leeds allowing Paveda to leave on a free at the end of the season apparently. Better than what we have? Only a goer if we stay in the Championship of course.

It needs someone like him, famous and popular, to draw attention to what's been happening to Rover over the last 14 years and to possibly attract attention from people with real wealth. Any chance of the Trust or anyone else making contact? I know it sounds far-fetched but if you don't try you never find out. He seems passionate enough about the club. He could be the perfect figure-head if someone could get him involved. Media would be all over him! -

True but the Academy is not being used as we had imagined. We've just become a feeder club for others. The usually inadequate transfers fees are swallowed up by day to day running costs. But you're right, the Academy is doing well. -

These people have things completely the wrong way round. They effectively argue that "if 20000- home fans turned up to every game we would have a good team". In reality, if we had a good team, 20000 fans would turn up! Its the entertainment game, the club has to incentivise the fans. They have to put on something that's worth paying for. What they are doing is relying on the loyalty of fans which has built up over years without giving them the experience which attracted them in the first place. If you were 9-10 years old in 1993, and living in the Blackburn area there was only one place to be on a Saturday--- all that has been thrown away years ago. -
or even winning a game!

Or is he a success in the Championship but not good enough for the Premiership?

Will leave for a low-placed Premier league Club or a Championship club looking for promotion. Given the state of our finances and his age---£10M?

Behind iron bars rather than wielding them would be the optimum result!

Good post Len. I've liked it but there's a gremlin in the works! -

We simply had to win at home to Plymouth and the previous game and so on. But we never do. Fast running out of time and fixtures. Down without a whimper I fear. -

We'll lose anyone capable of playing in the Championship for a start. Sammi first to go. It'll be a real battle to get back up and I can'r see how we will. The problem is I'm wondering if I'll care. 75 years since I saw my first game and a long family history of support before that. Never expected it to end but it doesn't seem like Rovers anymore, it seems like we're buying into a foreign scam. Time to give Venkys an ultimatum---fuck off or we will. -

We went into the last 2 games saying we had to get 6 points. We got 2! With every game we get nearer to the drop and those around us get unexpected wins. Given the remaining fixtures we look doomed. -
In former days Ash Philips would have become our captain and stayed with us although a regular for England. Instead, this weekend, he will turn out for Plymouth against us at Ewood Park. Just another sad sign of how far we have fallen. I thought our reliance on the Academy was to save us transfer fees, instead its to pay the lekky bill.
-
Seems to me that they will refuse to sell no matter what and "funding is guaranteed". Which means the inadequate funding will continue to drag us down and down till there's nowhere to go. What a prospect the diminishing band of our supporters face. Absolutely no relief in sight.

The odd win here and there and you stay up. Takes a lot of draws to make up for just 2 wins. That's our problem right now. -
The replacements will be cheap though! 😨
-
We did have a good keeper---once.
-
He's a genuine Championship player and experienced though. How many others of that ilk have we got? A real blunder that one especially with the games coming so thick and fast and fatigue being such a factor.
-
They are all massive games. The problem is we win none of them. Millwall, 4 shots on goal the whole game and 1 on target---the goal! We're a mess and it will be a miracle if we survive. Number of clubs below us with a game in hand and only 1 point behind. That 10 point gap that protected us not long ago has been frittered away. We are a shell of a club.
