Maybe I’m being stupid here but surely it’s someone’s actual job, each and every day they’re at work, to be looking for possible targets for every possible scenario (eg in case we suddenly have a higher budget (I know I know!) or long term injury to a key player)

A squad list can be changed (both adding or removing a player) as many times as a club wants during a transfer window. So if we had 26 players at some point during January we could literally pick which one isn’t on our list on a match by match basis. The final squad list must then be submitted within 24 hours of the window closing.
