  1. Money, a job, opening doors elsewhere etc. Do a steady job here for a couple of seasons then move on ? No idea what agenda they've been sold but maybe they were the ones saying we can do this job on a shoestring.
  2. Maybe this reigning in of costs and restructure will lead to that also considering they've got the training ground on their own books as well now. Probably though it's just so it can sit quietly in the corner of the portfolio and carry on filtering profits, just in a more controlled fashion.
  3. Exactly. The writing for this was on the wall last summer but it's gone over a lot of heads because of that fantastic run of form and 2nd place. It was pitched as Mowbrays genius journey finally bearing fruit in growing a team for promotion but the reality of it was very different. There was a budget cut last summer and push towards lower wages model that can only be done by filling the squad with youth. There's another push towards that this summer it's a massive risk but they've stuck all their eggs in changing management structure in the hope it'll see us through. There is no budget or driving ambition for promotion and never was which after last season is criminal given the position we were in. 3 key players gone screams this loud and clear never mind no quality coming in so despite JDT and co possibly being a modern upgrade on the last lot the actual playing squad has suffered another very big downgrade....so far. I'll snap hands off for 11th place right now.
  4. They can sell him whether he likes it or not i think you'd find otherwise he could go on strike and have his remaining deal ripped up.
  5. That's where i think the owners come into it. Getting no joy with the players we are after and might need to ask if they can stretch a bit more. Then again if we are primarily in the loan market that often moves late. Loan fees and wage contributions might come down in asking price as the season approaches. Others come available later on that might not be right now so some clubs hang back a bit to see what becomes doable. I still think the ultimate say so for anything over 500k or a few grand a week will still need the big cheeses signing it off despite the new structure.
  6. Wouldn't be surprised if it was all down to the head honchos being on their summer hols and hanging out the do not disturb signs. We've heard that in the past, GB might well be finding out just how this circus is run.
  7. Most of this reply is nothing but empty waffle trying to cover the fact it was your chain that got yanked by a harmless comment. If ever there was a definition of a messageboard glass chin you've displayed it here, likewise you aren't normally so touchy. So we'll put it down to the hot weather and move on. My original point about gate money and budget stands though. As for lack of transfers i think you'll find iv'e been telling people all along we are going seriously on our own youth this time so nothing much will happen at all. Low cost/high risk is this seasons theme i'm afraid.
  8. How in the name of god is 'Not really thought that through have you' in anyway a seriously provocative post ? Grow up and grow a pair ! Your 'facts' are a one off season in which the ownership granted a championship budget. The room in that budget created by a few outgoings and a pay decrease through relegation clauses on a few top earners. That allowed a couple of million spent and a big squad to have a real go. How long do you think that would have lasted if we hadn't gone up ? A budget based soley on our income in this league wouldn't sustain championship football. A few years in league one would see a budget and crowds in line with that and that wouldn't be top 6 in our case. There, explained it for you but if you'd thought it through first time......
  9. Doubt they are that bothered to be honest, it's just the club that suffers as usual the days of them screwing big transfer fees are gone. I suspect it'll end a bit like the Rhodes saga where he went for a million or two more than what was paid with a few add ons. Meaning there's nothing really to reinvest even if that was ever the case, just a bit spare to keep running costs going a while longer.
  10. If you can't work it out yourself from my original post then i'll i'll not bother, i will say though being a dick doesn't suit you.
  11. Done to death this but here goes again, gate revenue here would make little if any difference to transfer budgets and wages going off what we know. You'd need an extra 10k every game in probably to make any significant contribution. As we know history dictates that at a club the size of ours and many others that only happens when in the top division. Gate money goes to cover Ewood running costs etc as we were told years ago if i remember correctly. The VH group and player sales cover the football side of things. If it was down to gate money dictating budget we'd be firmly in the middle of the league below. This is exactly why us and most other similar clubs need wealthy ownership with money to lose through a football clubs books.
  12. Yep another flash in the pan that will probably struggle to cover the cost of implementing it and paying wages for those doing it. It's naff all to do with the football side of things and just another fad that keeps the commercial dept in wages and it will contribute nothing to the playing side of things.
  13. What kind do wages do Malmo pay ? Surely coming here from there represents a pay rise for most so money shouldn't be an issue as long as there is no Sheff U or Boro in for him.
  14. You can't. The only conclusion is you weren't much of a true blue in the first place. Had similar arguments with 'life long Rovers' iv'e known who bailed to become diehard Chorley fans for a while. Pathetic in my book but each to their own.
  15. Watched him for Chorley v Bolton last weekend and it's absolutely the latter.
  16. Totally agree but if it was only about buy low sell high he'd have been shunted out regardless. Hindsight and experience also tells us it's just as costly not investing at key times as it is not making hay whilst the sun shines.
  17. I know, when i was typing that out i was looking back and thinking why didn't they continue down that path. Soon as they sold cairney the writing was on the wall.
  18. They actually got it going under Bowyer if we consider Rudy - a million maybe with inc ons and sold for 6. Duffy - similar and sold for 3.5 ish Hanley - cost no fee and sold for similar to Duffy Cairney - a millionish and sold for 3 mill Even Marshall i think brought a fee double for what was paid. Problem there is it was a fire sale over a period of time to obviously recoup running costs and there was no re-investment. Then they went bigger fees but will end up only with lower or similar profit margins and as before likely no re-investment. Remember it took relegation last time to get that ball rolling again.
  19. Factor in though he cost half that and is now twice the player he was, that's how this crazy business works now.
  20. Yet Rothwell cost next to nothing and could have gone for 3+ million representing proper Brentford style trading. Truth is there is no plan from Venkys they just operate on whims.
  21. Yes he's a miles better all round player his first touch and movement carrying the ball is Prem class at times. Arma is just your old school head down run and shoot type who is sadly about 20 years too late to be a Prem hit.
  22. Two 60 min games it's all about fitness today and getting mins on the pitch into the legs. So it might tell us about workrate and press but not much about anything else.
