  1. It's funny how they want to get historical talking about crowds and levels without Jack. From about 1980 till 1991 we stayed at least a division above them on ave gates of 5/8k without a pot to piss in before the coin rolled in. They were probably mostly operating on gates of 3/7k unless they were getting a promotion from the basement league. Factor in all the NW derbies were in their leagues as well during that time which no doubt helped the crowds. Didn't they come close to applying for the old re-election thing as well ? To rub salt in the wounds they've needed Hemmings annual millions to get back to then remain on the same level as us. Where the feck would they have ended up without that ? Clowns.
  2. Well Nixon usually starts it by putting the word out and he's been true to type with this - although he hasn't said we can't pay the wages or any installment owed yet. He has though dropped in the balance the books line. When the LT starts putting it about regularly you know there's legs to it.
  3. Historically 🤣 I'm sure that pillock will end up with egg on his fat Preston mush if someone presented him with facts.
  4. I fear getting rid of a load of players on around 5 grand a week, who might want 10k pwk then replacing with a load on 3 to 5k might be the order of the day.
  5. The Don over the Mowb for me anyday in terms of the last 3 seasons.
  6. Come on stop twisting it to sui,t you and everyone else knows he himself was operating under cutbacks whilst the parachute money was all spaffing straight through the club. What do he pay collectively for Conway, Marshall, Evans, Gestede, Duffy and Cairney ? Peanuts really about 4 mill in total and they sold for at least 3 times that. Yes he inherited Rhodes but Tony inherited Graham, Mulgrew etc and he's spent FIFTEEN MILLION collectively for Brereton, Gallagher and Armstrong !!! He's also benefited from the academy crop being ripe to be integrated and as well as he's doing with that ( and he is so credit there ) GB wasn't that fortunate. Hanley yes, Lowe, Henley etc no, they were crap as we found out. I think due to experience Mowbray is the better all round gaffer but keeping this club in midtable during tough times AND a dose of underachieving it's a no contest really. He's had far more of everything he hasn't even had to sell ONE star player until recently. Would i swap them back, no, would Mowbray have got GBs squad in the play offs ? Would he pump. Would Bowyer have kept Mowbrays squads in midtable ? Probably.
  7. Put your point in the bag and move on. 😉
  8. Bowyer did similar in the championship, a guy with zero experience with the height of the craziness in the background. Didn't have the backing nor patience Mowbray has had either. So he too must be a 'legend'
  9. Better than what we have and who'll play for the wages offered here ?
  10. Hes obviously started looking at the table and also prioritizing getting points for the team over individuals development all of a sudden. Remarkable what a good run can do, it isn't just fans that are fickle after all.
  11. I actually think the opposite BB is growing into a better all rounder than Armstrong and allows the team to be a bit more flexible.
  12. 100% spot on the whole idea of this journey to rebuild the club is to go the way they are going not jump off track every time someone waves an offer. If some club wants someone badly enough they'll make an offer that can't be refused otherwise stand firm. Tie up all the ones worth keeping who aren't being greedy barstewards and let this squad grow in stature and value. Trouble is here as always is the leeches in the middle looking for their cut and breathing in owners and their reps ears.
  13. Legendary status is only granted over time when looked back on. He looked anything but a legend before this season. how it ends is often more telling than how it started.
  14. Have another coffee, chill your bones we all cool 🙂
  15. 3 things here, it looks to me like hes been told to pull his finger out, not before time. A little bit of pressure does no harm now and again. Hes had his favourites and stalwarts ejected in order to slash the budget. His methods have been notorious in trying to keep his seniors and pals happy. That has been taken out of his hands and he's able to be more of a managerial figure to the young players. I agree he uses his experience to create a good enviroment by integrating good characters. He did it in the league one season. A rebuild has been long overdue and a new pecking order is now naturally creating itself. One not dictated by who's on the biggest contract or closest to the manager etc.
  16. Yes but they got 5 million for Gallagher from Rovers and probably pinched Armstrong for a lot less than is published. They smell a sting, no way are they tipping up 20 million for BB without trying to send someone this way again.
  17. Don't come out with the passive aggressive shite either, pal.
  18. 'The South American' 🤣 And to think people on twitter yesterday were arguing where Stoke actually was !
  19. Fulham at home on Sky on a Weds night or Preston at home on a Sat afternoon ? The coffee would smell nice with a guaranteed 20k plus thank you. Trying it at a game where there is more interest is the key and the good run of form just adds to that. Get out of Waggots back sack.
  20. Young lads with plenty in the legs and willingness to do it is so good to watch.
  21. I think it's about the right blend of players making it work now at the back. Having a dynamic midfield in front of the back 5 certainly helps. As does defending from the front and having a few who can actually run forwards with the ball.
  22. We might have a bad run or two but as long as everyone remains fit i don't think this young team has a real 1 win in 10 death spiral in it. Unless he reverts to type and reels them in or changes back to possession crap i think they'll keep bouncing back from set backs. With shackles of a squad full of defensive mids finally thrown off and trying to please a host of more experienced players just picking up wages this side has more spirit and hunger about it. Also good a player as Armstrong was it was all about being tailored to him the last few seasons. Far too rigid but now there's some flexibility to it and Mowbrays constant inter changing of systems and players is having a better effect. He's had pelters at times and a lot of it justified by he seems to have the handle on this young squad. Maybe because a lot of egos have been removed, not by his choice but he's benefiting from it so far.
  23. That was one of the best all round performances of the season for me, we looked the complete team. Still lacking a bit of presence up top and a bit of pace wide in the squad imo. However they covered everything today, competed with rough house Stoke and a dick of a ref. Got it down and played when they could, attacked on the break and pressed from the front. Exactly the thing you need to do to prosper in this league and leave to sideways possession crap well alone. I don't know if a lightbuld has finally gone off in Mowbrays head, his hand has been forced or someone has had a word but this is the Rovers we want to see. Even if they'd scabbed and equalizer it would be harsh to have a go. This team is clearly hungry and playing for each other, the boss and the fans. I hope people leave the expectations alone as well as they've surpassed them already compared to recent years. Not sure we have the depth, quality or legs to keep it up but it's enjoyable whilst it lasts.
  24. Not sure i agree with some of the posts sounding like it's a make or break game, it isn't. That kind of thing just leads to unnecessary pressure and gives TM and co ammunition when they are looking for excuses. We have a good young side in a good position and nothing to lose really so he should be brave and look for a win. If we don't we bounce back soon as we can but please don't be going with the attitude of a must not lose game. That's how we usually slip up in these games as in the past, just be brave defend like tigers and attack on the break. Nothing to fear and no pressure as long as the desire is there.
  25. They might have to commit a bit more money tying them up but they are tying future value into the club. Sell one for ten million in 18 months and it's covered. I thought that was the whole idea for this club now whilst retaining a good young team to be competitive in the top 10. Losing most of them for minimal money, then just putting that towards just grabbing what you can to fill up the squad, is not only counter productive it's going around in circles again. That's the thing we are supposed to be moving away from in order to build the club up again. Where is the forward planning instead of just winging it ?
