  1. There'll be a big charm offensive at some point late summer no doubt. Their stock is low at the moment with people having lost faith in the manager, the football style and the training ground scam, sorry scheme. Surely somebody will realize this at some point although it won't be the ownership. Or their messenger boy who is in my opinion nothing more than another arse coverer out for as easy a ride as possible. Expect a fanfare of trumpets once STs have gone on sale and a few frees have been signed. Big talk again from the manager about history, hard work and integrity, non of which covers up for the previous few years bull. This is all before we take into account the damage covid might have done as well. Faith needs restoring but just expect Groundhog day, anything else will be a bonus.
  2. Winger/Striker ? that's nailed it then no wonder Mowbray is sniffing around.
  3. Think we need to remember we've still got the basis of a good squad here. It's mostly young and has flaws and weak spots that need strengthening . Half a dozen good additions makes it competitive again in the middle of the table. That's likely to be frees and loans so it's a big job but i don't want to see them chucking contracts at anyone who'll come on less than ten grand a week. Massive job but one that will probably have the usual last min casual approach to it. I'd much prefer a new conductor overseeing it though, everything needs freshening up. Another jobs for the boys, nice lads, do as they are told summer will leave us struggling next season once the 'knocks & pitches' take their usual toll (only in Blackburn) of course.
  4. We ended up having a good summer window last time around looking at it on paper. Didn't make any difference though once the manager, a few knocks and covid had entered the equation. I'm not sure i can get excited by any signings this summer given we know exactly what will happen. Maybe an underwhelming one and smaller squad will clip the the tombolas wings and work in our favor instead. After all 12/13th will be hailed a success and progress come next May !
  5. Hasn't he always been seen as a wide right forward by the management ? It looks like him right, Gallagher left as per the experiment recently then probably end up with Dolan in the middle. Or a young loanee winger, excuse being keep a berth open for Dack ! No way is this guy bringing in a proper striker if Armstrong leaves, just doesn't seem to fit his philosophy....sorry ..tombola.
  6. Yet more nonsense they ALL knew this was ongoing so they are either very naive or as i suspect bull shitting people. Makes sense when you think about it, both guys can have another payday in fights they have to have. Fights they both theoretically should win then the huge unification is still on. So i can't see either them or their promoters crying about it just like i can't see anyone tipping up 20 mill to Wilder. Doubt he'd accept it either.
  7. Mowbray most certainly does 'get' Rovers, the club/fans/town he spent almost the entire first few years telling us about it. What he also began to get was the owners, how they tick and what they like to hear, as well as sussing the void between here and India and what can get lost in it. He knows he's made a series of cock ups that have contributed a large slice of where we are now. He also knows by now what he can get away with/say and how far he can push it and that it only matters how the owners see it not the fans or anyone else. A very crafty old dog he is who did a few good years and has lived off it the past 2 but that won't go on forever.
  8. Got to have the right connections though and manager has to like them as humans. No real characters need apply.
  9. There was talk around that time that some of these guys were coming in on the same or bigger money than some who'd won the league here. Makes sense when you consider how quickly the rot set in.
  10. No he'd just be the difference between 15th and 11th......
  11. He will, in the dugout from about mid October to mid March. Signs of life either side of that as usual.
  12. Bang on, said a few times iv'e always thought Mowbray is like a lower league Hodgson. Asks too much from some bang average players, attacking full backs, complicated systems. Multiple in game changes and doesn't know how to recruit good center backs or target men. Doesn't make the best use of the backing he had and an obsession with playing guys out of position. That's before we start with the waffle and demeanour.
  13. Cairney was sold first from under GBs nose allegedly. Just before the season i think although might be wrong on that. It opened to gates for the fire sale though.
  14. I'd take Nixons comments to mean he's not heard owt and Mowbray will only leave if he suddenly decides too. Nothing in it imo, as you were, the signs and noises are crystal clear he isn't being pushed and is settling in for another grind.
  15. Rothwell is a bit like King in that he can carry the ball from one end to the other almost easily at times. That's when he often comes unstuck but it's something to work on and he has valuable skills. His manager though is just another limited ambition guy who's terrified of more than one flair player on the park at a time. Just another boss who doesn't know or doesn't want to harness a real talent. Rather have the ball going slowly and safely sideways and backwards so he doesn't have to stand up and bark orders. I'm surprised they haven't installed a tea and biscuits bar at the back of the dugout for Mowbray ! Also i love the attempt at dressing it up as letting Rothwell go gives a chance to keep Armstrong. More spin and bull.
  16. The summers talk and the seasons objective has been top 6 but it transitions into the above as time goes on and targets drift out of sight. The only game or journey Mowbray is on here is the long one to his retirement and that of his gaggle of buddies. Comfort zone plus 10 he's on here and he realized that years ago. Talk the talk, don't walk the walk then change the talk to suit. It just doesn't matter the owners nod along and shrug their shoulders in tandem.
  17. A line needs drawing under the Chapman saga i'm not sure why anybody expects it to be any different if he came back. If we'd changed manager then fair enough but as it is it'll just be more groundhog stuff.
  18. Bowyer, Lambert, Coyle, Mowbray.... all much of a muchness, all with alleged same representation. Not much point bickering about that lot really every one of them would need good backing just to keep Venky Rovers in midtable. All capable of relegating an average side ( 2 of them did between them ). Most of them probably capable of getting a lge 1 promotion with good backing. Any of them capable of challenging promotion with a good squad and backing ? Well 2 haven't managed it here despite having time. It's just a scrapheap agents client list merry go round. Non of them build or coach a solid aggressive style of football needed. We must move on, we some something different.
  19. They probably can't stretch to what he wants for a wage so he'll get another contract here and be loaned out again. I just can't see Mowbray ever using him properly in this division and to be honest i'm not sure he's up to it. I sense an old pals act again here.
  20. Nothing will work here until they have a proper locally based board of directors. Containing people with the clubs best interests at heart not their own, their mates or any 3rd party influences or hurting the owners feelings if they feel something isn't right. It's is as plain and simple as that really. We've had agents, managers, bit part ten bob shelf sellers and nobodies. Non of it has worked, not one bit apart from Mowbrays brief grasping of it in league 1. Until they finally come to terms with that their money will continue to be wasted.
  21. Evolution not revolution remember ! That's Tony mantra which the groupies are still clinging to - lets see what we've spent the last 3 years evolving into next season..........
  22. Same old same old, everything has to be signed off in Pune but Pune only listens when it wants to. Only power fat man has is protecting his pal. I had high hopes when they finally appointed a CEO who'd actually done the job before but just seems like another waste of money. All adding to the debt of course.
  23. They came over to see the Queen in Blackburn a few days before a match. Then fired off and didn't bother watching their 15 million per year 'baby'. Just about sums the whole thing up.
  24. Not sure what he's going to concentrate on. He said defenders were coming years ago then just scrabbled about for a couple of loans. Next he decided to change to possession football which was obviously partly to help our soft defense. Keep the ball off the opposition and we won't concede as many. Well it didn't work because we couldn't win in the main and still let in poor goals. So what he's going to try now god only knows. What we do know though is it'll be over complicated and still blighted by too many changes and rotations. That's a given with his management. So, THE only stats that matter are the win column and the points column, too fans but not to anyone at Ewood it seems though.
