  1. Tough night tonight for everybody but the 6 losses in 7 ruined the season. At least half of that was on the managers head. All wrong again tonight with the starting line up and tactics the guys commentating and in the studio highlighted it more than once. Good team they are but we were too easy to push back again. Decent changes and we looked a far better side. Dacks injury is a disaster for everyone but of course it seems Mowbray is getting half the sympathy for it 'because he really cares'. Well i think there'd be something very wrong if he didn't. Injury and penalty farces aside tonight told us nothing we didn't already know, he's overcooked the goose yet again.
  2. It's not usually those he rotates though, this will be some tactical thing to do wit the opposition no doubt.
  3. He was one fit geezer he told us one night in the pub that he used to do a full warm up routine. Sit ups, pull ups, press ups etc before he even went out to play although i don't think pre match warm ups on the pitch were quite the same then. In fact i think it was voluntary and only those who could be arsed had a bit of a kick about 🤣 He did also say when he went to Burnley Stan Ternant thought he was mad. He'd never seen anyone doing chin ups before a game !
  4. There'll end having to be a 24/7 rota by the sound of things in order to let everyone cover everything. Hope the residents like all late night floodlights, oh and the extra vans in and out everyday carrying stuff that'll end up being stored at Ewood instead.
  5. Terms that die off often reappear these days with a different or slightly different meaning. 'Expansive football' used to mean being open, using the width of the pitch and letting the ball do the work. Working it forwards in sideways passing and looking to slip the strikers in. Seems it's being used to describe what was once over 'pass and move' football which is different than the more rigid version. Expansive teams often held high lines and were often wide open at the back as a result. Needed very good very quick defenders. We had what i thought was a version of it under Souness in his later stages here once he'd declared the winger dead. It didn't work then either. Not actually sure what Mowbray version is but to me it's neither expansive nor pass and move, probably something in between. Just basic possession football most of the time with a slow build up and little end product mainly due to lack of movement up front. Dolan and Brereton help in that regard though at times when they get chance otherwise it's just keep getting it to selfish Arma or hope Dack does something.
  6. Just another backside covering sales pitch, we need to sell that land to build the Brenford model hint hint. Then we'll be up there challenging like them !
  7. That's what it is general as well, operating at their level. ToMo dragged the club back up at first attempt and quickly stabilised it that's true and fair play. It was still a midtable Championship club that had been messed around and miss managed front to back. Not like we'd be rotting in league one for years or had no capability to bring any players in. Now though that middle of the road Champ club is very much their level they aren't clued up enough to push it on. So what do they do, they come up with a plan best suited to that and them. No more bringing in 7 and 5 millin pound signings, big wage experienced pros and luxury young loanees then being told get us in the top 6. No madame we'll just sit here, cut corners, swap the team around every week so everyone gets games then churn out players for other clubs. Somewhere along the line we might have a lucky season. Some say that's the way we have to go but it still only works if you are churning out players every season worth good money. Young worth 10 mill and players you've signed worth two or three times that in a short amount of time. We'd still need masses of outside funding to prop it up and no way is it happening at this level paying less than ten grand per week. Fantasy land being pushed by those not capable of anything else. Hands up those who genuinely think they are capable of carrying off such a Brentford style plan anyway ?
  8. I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt on that one for now. I just think they keep coming up with bits to add to this 'journey' they've blagged the owners with. It's all in the name of stringing it out as long as possible to cover the fact at first team level we'll keep falling short. In terms of Waggot and Venus though there are too many parallels with stuff before for it not to whiff a bit. He's got multiple selling points on this one here though to cover over the cash grab for the club. And of course these things never ever pass without a set of people in the middle making a few quid.
  9. What about all the drones they've bought and staff to fly them as well as the video scouting offices and staff. You know all that stuff from the last round of bullshitting. where is all that going to go in the new setup ?
  10. When you know you are going nowhere there's no pressure on him that's the zone he's most comfortable in. The one big experiment can continue then, it's where he's most capable. Give people mins, mix and match, play about with formations and it doesn't matter. End of season in sight and possible scouts from big clubs watching, everyone developes a spring in their step. He's developing the squad not the team.
  11. He's just switching tack again to making it all about producing players to sell. I'm sure he'd just love that scenario of now brainwashing the owners into forgetting about the top 6. If they haven't already of course but the seed he's planting now is the resources we have we can't even trouble the top 6. Abject nonsense it's his own capabilities and signings that are falling short of at least having a go at it. In short he's looking at yet another way of covering his own failings and cock ups. Said it a thousand times but what would some gaffers in this division give for what he's had the past few years ? Are his might Boro - a club very similar to ourselves just in a less diluted catchment area - Are they looking to downscale to copy Brentford ??? Why can't we continue to concentrate on making the best use of the good resources we do have. Instead of bemoaning what we don't have all the time ? Defeatist tosser.
  12. If you were genuinely going down the route of an all in one state of the art upgrade you'd have an idea of what you actually want. You'd then be looking at a cost and if it was really feasible to do it. Then you'd be after funding guarantees for any possible shortfall before you went ahead. This is back of the fag packet stuff here it's crazy and a plain money grabbing attempt. Get PP, get it flogged, get the money in then see where we are. Still nobody has come up with an explanation of why now, why embark on this right at this moment. What is the real driving issue ? sack the effing lot of them now before anymore pants get pulled down. If the fact schemes like this have been attempted at their other clubs doesn't wave a serious red flag i don't know what does.
  13. 😂 we'd all like to think so ! Don't get me wrong i know it isn't easy and i'd predicted us to fall short anyway this season. Been very disappointing though and my main problem with TM is i think he's too quick with the excuses. He always seems to have them in a row ready even before anything goes wrong, i think it rubs off on the team. Collectively they don't want it enough and they don't believe in it enough. Mindset is all wrong but it's ok when they can all just keep shrugging their shoulders and plodding on. Soon as the comfort zone gets threatened by hard questions dummy's and toys start flying. It all needs a reset imo although we all know a Venky reset isn't exactly reliable.
  14. There is no chance of challenging the play off places come April/May next year under Mowbray. Whatever happens with Armstrong or anybody else, non, zilch, zip, nadda, zero.
  15. Just commented on that on twitter. The propaganda machine is cranking into gear now priming for what's about to come. All goes to back up the land sell training center bull then begin dismantling this side. There's lots of lovely potential commission in the offing here. And the perfect excuse to sit in the middle of the division under captain midtable another 4 years. I'm not alone in suspecting the real plan here all along has been to grow a side with as much value as possible. It's maturing now, ripe for picking and clearly going nowhere in the league. If i thought he could sell Armstrong for big money then use it wisely to make us better i'd back it. I do not think for one min he's capable of that nor that bothered.
  16. They finally managed to get in a good keeper plus and potential good back up. He put those down to the recruitment dept. Then in comes Pears from Boro and is automatic no 2. Defenders have been coming for years - except they haven't unless we've borrowed them. Then comes Ayala, from Boro, who hasn't played since the previous Jan, has a few games and struggles. Then he disappears somewhere inside his THREE year contract. We still need more defensive cover but old Tone makes sure there's enough left in the pot to bring back 36 yr old -ex boro- Downing. Meanwhile ex Boro Richie Smallwood who's been allowed to basically sit in the managers office for 12 months finally leaves. All after staying safe, staying fit and seeing his contract out. So he can further his career nice and ready to go elsewhere. Then there's Harry Chapman, er ex Boro ! Something isn't right about all this at all whether it's just him terrified of players he doesn't know or something a bit more interesting. He's been running his own show here for the last few years covered by his own CEO. It needs to stop.
  17. Rovers 2 Bees 2 We'll score first then end up 1-2 behind before a Raya clanger gives us a point for that big half empty bag.
  18. Considering the signings and money he's spent here, just to have us bang middle of the road i suspect he'd be taking clubs like that the other way. Maybe at Barnsley with a small squad he'd have to keep the same team so that might help keep them midtable. At Cardiff he'd have far more to rotate the arse off and mess around with every game. So i'd wager they'd be very similar to what we are now under him.
  19. Lets hope things are monitored tighter than in Shaw's days then when amongst other things he not only signed off Bergs contract but changed the detail. I know all football related stuff is allegedly run past them but they were supposed to be having Waggot to oversee day to day stuff on the ground in Blackburn. I presume he has certain authority as a CEO to make some decisions. Besides just how it is presented to them and in what context we don't know. That's why i'm praying they give it some real attention.
  20. If we'd missed promotion from league 1 and sat around 8th place there with the owners cutting funding to that level then yes that would be a great blueprint to 'try' and follow. It would be the only sensible one and that's when costs/wages start to get cut, training grounds get squeezed into one and land sold off. As we are now the way forwards however unpopular it might be is to sell Armstrong and put what money is left towards reducing a bit of debt and reinvesting in the team. We still need far better management at pitch level but really it's the only way forwards now unless they upgrade things, keep the players and go for it. To Mowbrays credit he has given us a good platform now to move on from, not downgrade and pull it to bits. If these owners want to pump 15 mill towards the losses ever season for as long as it takes then let them. They just need to realize it's going to take more than empty promises to make real strides forwards.
  21. Right now we aren't talking about promotion it was always a fantasy this season. What we ARE talking about is this squad - even this season - doing better than it is. The fact that we've relied so heavily on one mans goals and a 17 year old loanee shows how poor a set up its been this season. Arguably last season in the absence of Dack we relied a lot on a 36 year old on a one year deal and a young loaned in defender who could pass it well from the back. Also another loanee who's now in the Prem. Combined those 3 probably cost round 3 million quid just for a season, that shows tow things. How much you need just to sustain yourselves in mid table at this level. And how flawed this management set ups so called journey really is.
  22. Apologies but at first you were presenting it in a way that said we were improving because the passing stats were better than recent years. Then you get some agreeing saying we are on the right lines, you're all basically repeating what the manager trots out however results and league position strongly suggest otherwise. As for the above stuff on a plan forwards we were in a stronger starting position than Brentford. How many academy players have we had in or knocking on the first team door already ? Only real difference to them has been we haven't been buying cheap and selling for a profit to plough back into the squad. If we were thinking of following them we've already been badly mis-managed signing a kid for 7 million and another guy for 5 million. Plus they sold our highly rated but erratic young keeper for a modest fee.........to bloody Brentford ! To pull what we have now to pieces and rebuild smaller to follow them is plain crazy. Once Vs stop pumping money in they might never start again. Sorry but it's an absolute fact of life Championship clubs need outside money to be sustainable. Whilst we have it we should use if correctly not on whims, either way whichever route is followed it needs a very good manager and boardroom setup. Following your plan under Venkys is doomed to failure and lower league football.
  23. Do they have to sign off the bill of sale though or can the CEO of Blackburn Rovers, the company the land belongs to not just do it ?
  24. I also think if this gets pushed through it'll mean another 4 year contract for the midtable messiah. Then the water treading excuse will be because of the training ground upheavel whilst he works on implementing the 'Brentford model'. Surely with a cat 1 academy already in place and two sites on the go the likes of Brentford were aspiring to be us ?
  25. The gist is the owners haven't pitched this the club have - the club being Waggot, Mowbray & Venus.... They don't even know how much the new facility will cost and don't appear to have a guarantee from India to make up the difference. If that difference is too large what happens then ? What's the next step in the grand plan, sell players to cover it ? Take it from the 1st team budget ? Or just cut corners and downscale the refurb rendering it pointless in the first place ? Bullshit of the highest order this is, they just want that stamp of building approval asap then get the money in and go from there by sounds of it. No owner or director in their right mind would sign this off its been cooked up in the boot room at Ewood. More worrying is do they actually legally need approval from India to push this through ?
