  1. I certainly think the club have PR people reading and feeding stuff back. The number of times it's sounded like he's answering stuff directly that's been mentioned on here is noticeable. Might just be coincidence but there's been quite a bit of it.
  2. Another sickening PR job that's barely left a dry eye on some social media platforms. Polar opposite to what he was trotting out the other day, i'm not sure he's devious i just think he's muddled again. Right from when he walked in the door i thought he looked like a man caught between two minds. That's probably why he's never been a top end championship manager because he does have his good points. Something though is lacking and i'm convinced it's the conflict within his own mind. His stuff on the pitch and in recruitment screams it loud and clear.
  3. Much needed resounding win and welcome 3 points versus Tony's whipping boys. Changes absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things but the marginal gain journey will be back on track.
  4. If it's followed the same level of care and attention the pitch and ground have.....
  5. It seems part of his role is that of 'think tank' to come up with handfuls of ideas, pitch them and hope to get one signed off. If that's the role of a football club consultant i think i'd like to have a crack at that job. The only thing so far i can see that he's pushed through is the waggot tax and shutting the Darwen end. That's a tiny matchday saving offset by the loss of those who jacked it in instead of being shunted about. And a moderate matchday income increase offset by the ones who decide to go at the last min jacking it in on principle of being penalized for doing so. Doesn't exactly inspire much faith neither does the tying up of 12 million in two fanciful punts, i presume he had some input in that as CEO. Perhaps he's trying to atone.
  6. He's clearly angry it leaked out and there can only be one of two reasons.... They wanted to trumpet about it in a big fanfare that would have come in handy covering this seasons washout. or It was intended to be done and dusted as stealthily as possible for as long as possible. Just wondering if it all isn't about the balance sheet in the short term. The moving & rebuilding of a state of the art pie in the sky site will take years. And years after that for it to bear any fruit. Still 'the boys are struggling to train properly due to the renovations' will come in handy for future under performing reasons.
  7. It's an over ambitious plan for a side piddling about in midtable in the championship. All the clubs efforts and focus should be directed towards trying to get promotion, even a play off or 3 would rake in extra cash. It really sounds to me like another fanciful plan sold to the owners with big promises of things to come. All part of this 'journey' sales pitch you might say. Get to the Prem the running costs would be covered or there'd be finance to do the project. Until then it would be better left alone its got crackpot scheme written all over it when you consider the last 10 years.
  8. These lot have their feet firmly under the table, regardless of midtable mediocrity forever. They have big plans for themselves, sorry, the club by the sounds of it.
  9. I did notice the eyes averting from fixed gaze and the twitching and blinking when it went off football into the housing etc 🤔
  10. Yes that's one of the many upsides to it i think quite a few are now fed up with his cack handed methods. Like with a lot of fans though the nice guy tag goes a long way to over compensate.
  11. Yep, the initial success of Mowbray and finding a CEO to go along with it was dropped on by shear chance. A line of duds supplied by the same agents and the law of averages meant one finally fit what was needed at the time. Typically of them and their arrogance they probably thought finally 'this it it we've struck gold we knew we were right all along'. Then just tossed everything over to these lot in a similar way they did to the rat and fat dancer. They still just don't get it and now instead of just gently moving on this manager, then getting one with a bit of pedigree it's likely to turn into another long drawn out expensive circus. Gods know where it might end but fans will end up blaming fans again for sure. People back in the ground all vaccinated and ready to kick off with each other again no doubt. Now if they actually got this right we could really go places.
  12. If any of those rumours are anywhere near the mark it's the tricky situation a lot of us predicted it might come to. Allowing a manager so much power and surrounding himself with all his mates is great when things are going ok. Soon as they aren't and you want rid there can be huge problems. Be easy to boot them now but such are these noble and honourable football people you've no idea how many nasty spiteful things they might do. Some players might down tools ( not that it would make much difference ). Others might begin plotting exits, possibly assisted by the departing cronies.... That's why it needs a real set up getting in place ready to step in, give everybody something to cling to. Players need a reason to stay focused and a real aim for next season. And the club as it always has under these owners desperately needs a good honest set of football administrators. Not agents or manager recommendations or part time corner shop chancers. A proper set up with the right remit.
  13. Comments most of this season have seemed aimed at placating the owners as much as the fans. Owners who still clearly don't follow it closely enough to see there's been spoonfuls of bull to cover the flaws. Flaws that have recurred here for years now, SILL no proper defense or back up after 4 frigging years. That's nowt to do with injuries as pointed out apart from Ayala it's the same lot who've proved they aren't up to it consistently. The center pairing now is as bad as the one we ended up with in the relegation season at times. Brown & Greer and an injury prone loan, too old/weak, now too young inexperienced and weak. Damn good job those early season wins are still propping us up otherwise we'd be really in the mire. Some journey this is.
  14. He knows he's annoyed people now on top of the results being a disaster so now he's playing the self pitying card. In between saying you'll have to pay me off cause i'm digging my heels in otherwise. Don't worry loads are lapping it up, poor Tony what do our fans really want etc etc. Most of these numptys with those comments clearly do not watch the team regularly.
  15. I said the same last mid season, i'm just trying to look at it from their angle and his. If they are all as fond of each other as is made out then doing it the right way is the answer. Imagine if they are holding off removing him because they don't want to upset him ? Lambert had a similar exit although he obviously had a clause but it was an amicable split and saved this type of mess developing. If it was up to me i'd have sacked in the last winter slump or replaced him in summer. This season i'd have sacked him ages ago as soon as it was obvious it was going up in smoke. I'm still angry at the ridiculous nature of the way they folded after lockdown after again being in a good position. He kept up the possession football when we had nothing to lose in just going for it. That was passed off as the transition bullshit and so this season we are largely seeing the result of that. It doesn't deliver and neither will he, ever !
  16. That's a huge part of the problem here especially with detached ownership. Any big football club should have a structure in place that allows for change with no more upheaval than is needed. Change is part and parcel of football. No chance of that here when they get a guy they like they let them run it like a franchise. And when it isn't like that there is nobody or a collection of dummies.
  17. Strachan nooo thanks, a dinosaur i'd rather punt on Roy Keane No need to bother though nowt'll happen.
  18. Did the same in that bad run after we'd come back up basically saying the seniors call the shots in the dressing room. Like he was just there to advise or something, said it a few times he's a crafty old soul.
  19. Good post agree with most of it apart from the resign bit he's used the burden line before. He's feeling sorry for himself you could tell that with the tetchy comments towards the media guys. He's had it far too comfortable here so he's gone all defensive but now it's turning to that. Probably realized he can't be angry at others when it's his team keep losing games. Ideal world it would all end amicably with him acknowledging his failings, owners giving him till the end of the season to have a swansong the paying him up. Might even get some fans in to give him a decent send off, there'd be a few tears ( rivers of them on twitter & facebook) then we move on. The prospect of a bigger name coming in next season would reinvigorate the fans and stimulate interest. Whilst TM would leave with enough dignity and a cv that says mutual consent, should net him something else should he fancy it.
  20. It was the following season Souey got us promoted, maybe though he wouldn't have done had he not had those 15 in the previous to have a good look. A few of those losses especially the cave in to Man City at home showed him he needed men/leaders not nice boys.
  21. Dead rubbers have put points on the board in the past that perhaps skewed what had gone before then got dressed as marginal progress. Some of our players suddenly seem to get a spring in their step when the beach is in sight. Might be a few playing for contracts as well but as the end gets nearer and there's zero pressure for anything other than upper midtable even the gloomy manager seems to get a new lease of life. We've also beaten a few teams higher up in the run ins to be fair but the pressure is all on them and it sometimes shows. You still have to go out and beat what's in front of you of course but it's annoying how the 'want it more' mentality disappears here every mid season.
  22. Encouraging the interest already registered by Moyes and the gang. Worryingly this is having a similar feel to when the downgrade started under Bowyer. Perhaps they've got wind there won't be much of a budget at all next season as the massive hole from this needs covering. The taps might well have to be down to a trickle again. Now if only Vs had a spare 12 million in their back pockets.....
  23. I know it's easy to nit pick now with hindsight but there were elements of his first games in charge that gave concern and still ring true. I remember the Barnsley game at home one of his first in charge and i came away from that lame effort knowing we were doomed. Pretty much confirmed everything i feared about the appointment, it wouldn't be enough. Some of the stuff in that very game goes on exactly the same today he's just got better players. The confusing systems and over egging it is just the same. As was this need to try and 'play' instead of getting a solid formation and in the faces to fight bite and kick to where you needed to be. That day nearly everything we did was tried through Mahonney and i recall he moved him around 3 different positions. He was bright early on but his effectiveness just disappeared when he ended up out of position. TM does exactly the same with Elliot now and often has with Dack. Also that day we were undone by horrendous howlers at the back although in no way was he responsible for Wes Brown being so shit. I know the appointment of Coyle virtually sealed relegation but there elements missing that day that still are now. Difference is they really shouldn't be.
