I think Downing certainly in early season if not recently was no 3 behind the first choice two until Rodwell got up to speed, i'd love a bruiser but reckon it'll more likely be a young cheaper back up option or Williams is ear marked for it.
-
Just moving Downing out because Rodwell has proved his fitness I think so he'll be moved up the pecking order.
-
Yes, here ahead of Brereton for me I think he's proved that. They'd be sending the wrong one on loan.

I don't get the obsession with resigning injury prone former players who've not done much except be mostly injured since they left. We need to leave that alone and move on if they can't find an affordable decent player or two if there is a budget even if it's loans then they might as well scrap the so called recruitment dept because it's only delivering similar to what the agents vehicle model did going down the busted or oap roads.

Your best 5 and worst 5 Rovers games!

That would've been exactly some of the comments because he replaced Speedie ? -
Williams is a league one centre half playing at left back in the Champ so Mulgrew would be a definite improvement on him but agree it's all about keeping it tight there'd be no charging down the flank but Mulgrew doesn't need to with that left peg. I suppose it depends on who's in front of you and the protection you get but we don't play with a flying winger out there anyway ! It would give TM the excuse to start Conway at least ?

Hart it seems they are just having another look at him after he's allegedly done ok at Rochdale although there was chatter he's another of the stable of one of the clubs favourite agents when he arrived and looked crap.... ( where's Jal ?) Straight out on loan again with hopefully some decent contribution to his wages, no harm done I suppose. We'd be moaning if he slipped through the net then came good although I think it's more likely he might carve out a lower league career.

In a similar way I think young Kevin was happy where he was and was shoved here before he was ready rather than chose to come despite the obvious rise in salary.

Best - Shearer v Norwich in the 7-1, Flowers VE day just for the sheer significance of it it was a league winning performance, Speedie away to Plymouth that got us in the play offs I think and help make all that followed possible. Worst - Duffy by a mile or fifty closely followed by Orr and Murphy v Peterborough at home. All not just stinkers but real I don't give a toss fingers up to the fans style non effort. What an awful period in the clubs history they made a massive contribution to. Varney, Brown, Ashley Ward etc were poor time and again but they always tried !

More like 10k then 20k i'd wager. Like Graham and Mulgrew he could turn out to be one of those that's worth it though if his attitude and fitness held up.

Something resembling 'structure', never thought i'd see the day again.

500+ is a more than respectable following when you are struggling and Ipswich have always done ok up here like that so credit where it's due. Real struggle on though and I think like Bolton a few seasons ago and us not long ago the drop is destined. Nothing to fear in league one if you can keep the nucleus of a good squad together and cut away the deadwood. A lot will depend on how you are managed though and whilst Lambert might get you having a good stab at staying up I can't see him getting you straight back but then again you never know, maybe that's his real level baring the one Coylesqe over achievement. Best of luck, good club and fans Ipswich and too big for league 1 for any length of time.

Funnily enough I was thinking just the same when I saw it earlier.

Or Tony reads on here a lot .. ?

He's another young player even though he's got quite a bit of experience under his belt already but at 21 or whatever he is he still can develop into a player good enough for this level on a regular basis.

If we are forgetting the price tag on Brereton for now then he needs handling like Nuttall himself who banged in loads for the U23's then had a taste of first team, poached a goal or two but didn't shine at all so it was back to the u23's. He's earned the right for another stab at it by grafting away and obviously filling out and working on other sides of his game away from the spotlight and the critics. Same thing should apply here they can't say oh we''ve paid big money for him put him on a good contract so that automatically entitles him to a first team squad slot when he's contributing nothing then apply then opposite logic when questions are raised and say he's only a kid who needs development don't expect anything yet ! He needs developing so get him in the 'development squad' for a bit and let someone from there take his place on our bench for a bit as the next phase in their development. That isn't closing the door on him or admitting defeat it's just another part of the learning curve and if the fee doesn't matter then that shouldn't matter unless those who signed him are worried about losing face.

The salmon will return up there once the riverside is redeveloped and has a proper bog system !

Was it not 3pm ? I do remember it being a belting afternoon weather wise, as for Fulham I think you've overestimated lol
