January Transfer Window.
rigger replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Playing for the U21s Mola has been used as a center-half, he gets drawn out of position and ends up on the left side of midfield. When he is in that position he is very successful. He is aggressive, strong in the tackle, reasonably good in the air. All this said it is only at U21s level, as I stated I think the move up to Championship is too much for him at present time. I wouldn't rule it out for the future. The big question is can we afford to take the risk ? -

I could live with that sort of business, if they are used correctly. -

At the end of this season, doesn't his contract revert back to his five year one with Rostov, in Russia ? -

Markanday, through the middle, not as a wide striker. -

I still think Mola has shown for the U21s that he has something. The step up to the first team seems to be too much for him at this time. Perhaps he is a future championship player. I will stick to my feeling that he is best as a left sided midfield player -

I think Markanday and Gallagher would be a decent central striker partnership. -

Adam Wharton is already playing at a higher level than Garret. -

We are more likely to be losing bums on seats, rather than getting them. -

I agree whole-heartedly, The only thing I differ on, is the watching it on TV bit. I have stopped doing that, as I find it easiest not to watch at all. -

For me what is essential, is to win the midfield by playing three in there. It is pointless getting a strong midfielder if they are played in a system that is never going to win the battle. I think we will find it hard to get better strikers, with the money we probably, will have. I think whoever we get as a striker (if any), we be a plan B type. Again a change of system to use the strikers we have in a more productive role may be the answer. I agree about the addition of pace, it scares defenders. -

Yes, I make judgements on what I actually see. Played wide he is almost as ineffective as Hirst. Spurs let him go for a knockdown fee. -

Fair enough we have to pay Hirsts wage, that does not mean we have to play him. Everyone makes mistakes and I can forgive whoever signed him, for that. They should just bite the bullet, admit the mistake, and say to Hirst you have five months to save your career, starting in the U21s. -
I was always taught the best relief of football tension was to play better. The worst was tetchy retaliation. Don't give the officials an excuse to make a shit decission. They can do that themselves.

He hasn't shown what you have seen, for the U21s. -

That is were our use of Markanday has to be called into question. He does not have the qualities needed to play the position, the Rovers have asked him to play. I will say again - The only thing I have seen from Markanday is a good shot when he has drifted into a central position. I have never seen him show any ability to beat a defender, what are the skills that you mention ? -

Optimism for me, is that Hirst isn't in the squad.
