  1. I really don't see him as one of the best in the Championship. He is of average standard to me. Throw in his injuries and it's a poor signing
  2. The missing line is: Now we're in three, it doesn't bother me. The three (for the youngest ones) was the old Division Three. Its origination was on a Ribblesdale coach from a bloke called Nolan from Mill Hill. Not a bad memory for an old git eh Nick 😁😁😁
  3. I didn't see all the game but I heard Andy Hinchcliffe praising Readings fitness levels. In fact he said they were the fittest team he has seen this season and were able to keep up a high intensity game for its duration. Sometimes fitness and its importance can be really understated.
  4. Personally I wouldn't describe either Williams or Lenihan as technical footballers 😁. On a serious note we also discussed whether Lenihan may be happier to be the more senior of the partnership. I thought Lenihan was decent last season with Tosin beside him which adds evidence to the theory.
  5. Another clean sheet which is the way to Championship success. A couple of Rovers supporters I speak to have given me some food for thought regarding Lenihan and evedentially I find it hard to disagree. Lenihans best matches this season have been with either Wharton or Branthwaite beside him and both are better footballers than him which, in a strange way inspires him and he does seem a better player and not the panic ridden, error prone footballer we sometimes see.
  6. That's how it comes across Nick and from the responses has been interpreted the same by others. I know from our conversations where your heart lies but your poor choice of words to somebody who doesn't know you and taken at face value give a poor impression.
  7. Your use of the word scum was poor Nick and to be honest you saying "who could blame them" is an insult. And your description of "investing" £150m couldn't be further from the truth. They have brought everything on themselves.
  8. So it's plan B then. Oh wait a minute...............
  9. I thought he was in ICU and preparing to audition for the new Cyclops film when he is released. 😁😁 Typical Warnock embellishment to deflect away from a defeat.
  10. I predicted not long after he signed his lucrative deal that he won't see it out and we will end up paying him off or loaning him out whilst massively subsidising his wages, just like the last thirtysomething we gave a three year deal to.
  11. A great scouse saying for somebody who is naive is 'as green as the grass'.
  12. But please Tyrone Don't Stop Believin'. This could be Mowbrays mantra and ties in with his oft used word. https://m.youtube.com/watch/1k8craCGpgs
  13. I have been reliably informed that he limped out of the warm up prior to training today with a calf injury. Without stating the bleeding obvious this lad clearly has issues and we have another two and a half seasons of this. It's appearing to be more of a panic signing with every injury given his record.
  14. Skinners parallels were the order of the day along with, as you allude to Doc Martens (cherry red of course). AG-AGR-AGRO 😁😁😁😁😁😁
  15. That's a great shout. It was bitterly cold, certainly the coldest have been watching Rovers but a few weeks earlier we were scheduled to play Gillingham away and the game was called off a few hours before. We were on the train to London when we heard and had a scheduled return so we scoured the games on in London and decided to go to Barnet v Wycombe. That was seriously cold and it was only on the train back that I got some feeling back in my extremeties. 😃😃😃
  16. It looks more like the old Wine Lodge bar to me Gav. I remember the contraptions on the front of the bar so help with an orderly queue. Hopefully somebody will remember for definite.
  17. Are you referring to the original one? If so can you remember the street name? Edit: Just found this. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/6041750.mystery-old-yatess-wine-lodge/
  18. Wasn't that the new Wine Lodge which Gav said became the Blob Shop. Before that there was a different one which, if I remember correctly was demolished.
  19. Is that not the original Wine Lodge? I don't remember the name of the street but it was round the corner from where M&S is now.
  20. Great stuff Gav. So many forgotten memories.
  21. Shocking journalism.
  22. He sells himself well to the public and he has done it at every club he has been at. I can tell you that after refereeing his teams on at least a dozen occasions he is a nasty piece of work. Here is an example. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2304152/Neil-Warnock-wont-missed-referees--GRAHAM-POLL.html I had a conversation with another manager a few days after I did a game between him team and Warnocks. He told me he heard Warnock telling one of his players to break an opponents leg. He called Diouf a sewer rat and then signed him. https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/neil-warnock-signs-sewer-rat-el-hadji-diouf-8034496.html Ternant has it right. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2003/jan/01/newsstory.sport4
  23. I'm happy with the win today and I've always said substance over style for me any day if results depend on it. Although we were under the cosh we were quite resilient and in truth limited Boro to very few chances. There wasn't any real stand out performances but the team and work ethic were highlights for me. I have always said the secret to success in the Championship is clean sheets and for me that's were our focus should be in every game.
  24. I had several rows with him over the years and I have to say I found him a nasty individual who invariably blamed me when his team had lost. In the same season he called me the best first year referee he had ever seen to the worst official on the list later in the season. Today's rant was typical of him and it's simply a deflection tactic designed to ease any criticism for losing. This is a man who called Diouf a sewer rat then signed him.
