Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
alex l replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Arguably VI has had it worse in a way - they sold/lost half of his starting team in one window and brought in the calibre of de neve, Sidnei and henriksson, plus a lad who would miss a third of the season. JDT and JE didn't face that level of mismanagement. -
Seems a bit of a generalisation, and not something I'd heard of. And in Alebiosu's case, it was reported he had to apply for a Nigerian passport months ago in order to be eligible, so hardly a shock to him.

No expertise beyond GCSE physics, but I suppose the water is now channeled to where the river runs faster?! Rather than slower moving in the wider part where the wall is. However it doesn't resolve the primary issue which seems to be how slow the immediate drainage from the pitch is, or when the river level reaches the outlet height

We need to take a philosophical approach. 'if a goal is scored at ewood, but it's raining, will the goal count for anything?' -

Apologies for the lack of clarity, yes I meant bringing de neve on for hedges rather Ribero, I know hedges was injured. Another one to add to our casualty ward. -

Not sure it's a list he has kept, perhaps him scribbling down the decisions which came to mind when he lost his cool at the ref performance? I think he got the sub of hedges wrong, Yuri would more likely have sat in and helped the backline. I prefer him being honest and not biting his tongue tonight, at least it shows some passion, even if it may come from concern for his own position -
I don't disagree that ST pricing is too high but I'm not convinced £300 is the mark to really move the needle on attendance. If it was, and I'm happy to be corrected if my recollection is wrong, the Riverside would be much fuller as that was the initial price. Make it £300 all around and we have an empty Riverside and possibly much lower revenue.

Probably very, but I'm seeing it as a bit of fun. The club shift some stock they've struggled to get rid of, it's set at a reasonable price to see what you get in the 'lucky dip'. At least they've used a bit of imagination and not set it at a stupid price. Fair play on this one, I await my 7 year old training shirt in size xxxxl.

Of course attendance is higher when the team is winning - you're more inclined to go if you're more likely to have a good time, rather than a waste of time. The other factor is cost - I can only speak for myself but with everything costing more these days, I've far less disposable income for leisure and many are likely in a similar position. Combine the above and it's not tempting to use your money on the 'product' at ewood. In 22 years (since I've been driving, I live 35 miles away )this is the longest I've gone into a season without seeing the team.

De neve shouldn't get near a shirt again. His lack of effort for Smyth's goal and volley are embarrassing. Only been on the pitch a short time and no desire to get back in. -
Venky’s (& Suhail) Out Protest Ideas
alex l replied to DuffsLeftPeg's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
We're probably nothing more than a loss making venture in amongst many business interests for them. Can imagine a weekly meeting going through their portfolio: "Anything on the football club?" "Nope nothing from Suhail, must be going smoothly, he's not asked for anymore money". Of course they should take more interest, but i imagine at their level of wealth, you employ people to do that for you. We just ended up with people who care more about reducing the losses. -
Wharton starting confirmed. Rudy rubbing his hands for a war chest until the funds mysteriously disappears and board pay increases

A CB. Who would have thought this would be needed when you've lost 2 senior CBs, 2 others have bad injury records AND you decide playing 3 CBs in a game is a likely option. -

Not subscribed to his patreon so only seeing the 'teaser', Nixon saying we're planning on signing 3 in the winter window. -

That would be an even lower level of administration at Rovers, when his parent club turn around and ask why we've tried to sell their player. -
Simple idea to show the club what is thought of this situation - get hundreds of LT front pages handed out at Charlton for our fans to hold up. Then hopefully thousands the next home game. Wouldn't need to be the full paper, just copies of their front page.

Can't see it happening but would be sporting if Ipswich allowed us a walk in goal at kick off. We get our advantage back, they have longer and no red card to try and get a result. That's the only way I can see it now being palatable. -

If we're losing with ten mins left, get the sprinklers on and waterlog the pitch. -

Flip the teams around - with it being only a one goal lead, you'd want your side to at least be given the remaining 10 (probably 15 with added time) remaining minutes to try for an equaliser. It would feel unjustified to have that taken away from your team, the way we feel it woutbe unjust to have the goal and many advantage taken away -

Trying for a balanced, non-emotive view on this window, and God it's hard when players who have given so much effort leave en masse. I think it's fair to say fans were sick of players leaving for nothing. It's also responsible to have an affordable pay structure. However the club clearly has something wrong when it can't retain any senior players. The only scenarios I can think of where you'd usually sign so many players is either a) promotion and needing to improve your squad or b) following relegation and an exodus. A) has players you'll have awareness of, we're much closer to which is alarming for a club who nearly made the top 6. The board have gone all in on the approach. If it's a bad season it's all on them. -

Show me another club, who, between the beginning of the January window and end of the August window, lose their entire starting back four! And yet the people who we want to get rid of stick around forever and a day -

VI quoted over the weekend as having no interest in Browne and not looking to bring a keeper in, same old stuff about needing pathway for the younger guys. Also said whilst it can change and opportunities can come up quickly, no loans were being looked at.
