v Huddersfield Town (h) - 20/01/2024

Feels like JDT will Start Gallagher and JRC, how long would they last though? 45 mins? I would start both and Sub them off when they Inevitably tire. JDT does have a tendancy to make subs a bit too late but that might have been more down to a lack of options on the bench. -

Venkys wouldn't give the green light to sign a 32 year old centre back, can't see them signing off on a soon to be 35 year old. -

No idea how good Huddersfield are at set pieces but if Moore has half a brain, he'll have his lot working on them all week and targeting our pathetic attempts to defend against them as a key tactic. -

I guess it's keep Gallagher or sell him and bring in another kid on loan. Maybe JDT opted for the first option. -

Impossible to predict a win with our current form. Most likely another 2-2 draw having to come from behind, possibly 2-0 down to scrape it. We are guaranteed to concede at least 1 goal, we've gotta hope that JDT either tweaks his approach (he won't) or at least has had a week on the training ground doing some good work. -

What does it mean if we are already on a payment plan? (As it says we didn't pay as agreed) (I don't know anything about this sort of stuff) -

He's definitely had a mare and he's obviously culpable in conceding the goal but he's not the only one who needs to take the blame. As you both say, the defending was abysmal as well. Just what we need, a poor keeper and a shocking defence. Not sure Pears returning will change too much (but he does need to come back) -
Jon Dahl Tomasson - no longer Sweden coach
davulsukur replied to Tom's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Obviously that's an extreme but at professional level it happens in every league up and down the country. A club, playing poorly with players making mistakes, changes managers and the next guy gets more/better out of what he's got. We've seen it at Rovers several times Souness > Hughes, Ince > Allardyce, Coyle > Mowbray. Your example, whilst clearly not being realistic still does keep some of the logic. If you gave the same 11 players to 5 different managers, you'd get varying degrees of results based on their management style/approach. Clearly there would be a limit to what you could achieve. -

Players regularly making mistakes always stems from the manager/head coach. -

Didn't cover himself in any glory for sure but it should never have been allowed to get to that point in the first place. Defenders didn't get anywhere near in dealing with that long throw. -

It's a huge problem. Outside of the top teams, this style doesn't work. Wigan (under Martinez), Blackpool (under Holloway) and even Rovers (under Coyle) all received plaudits for "playing football the right way" but ultimately couldn't defend to save their lives and were all relegated from their respective leagues. It's too open, expansive and the sheer negligence of the defence is the stuff of amateurs. It leads to a shocking amount of individual mistakes, the defenders don't know what they are doing. We have conceded more goals than anyone else in the league, the style of play is absolutely not good enough with the amount of goals we concede, which includes shipping 5 goals across 2 games against lower league opposition at home. Even our U21's now concede a stunning amount of goals, including a last second equaliser a few mins ago, despite Telalovic scoring (what should have been a winner) late on, in a 3-3 draw. -

The defending and keeping for the goals today was nothing short of amateur. Absolutely unacceptable. He's been dealt a rough hand but when players look like they don't know what they are doing it's coming down to the coaching. We're in trouble anyway but lose against Huddersfield (who have already beaten us comfortably once already) it'll be panic stations. -

Rovers shouldn't surprise you anymore. Conceding immediately after scoring is the most Rovers thing ever. -

There is nothing Hyperbole about conceding the most goals in the league and expecting to be nearer the bottom of the table than anywhere else. -

Really coming to something seriously poor if we can't pay £500k for a player.
