I reckon we'll have 2 lists of targets. Nothing will be done until after 20th August though. Szmodics to be sold and either we spend a bit, if the owners win the case. Or, the Szmodics fee goes into running costs and we go for our B list, which is mainly free/cheap transfers or loans only, should they lose in court. Edit: post wasn't written well.

I don't know when Ipswich get their Premier League money, or how much of its in installments but I'm struggling to see them not paying the £500k to land Szmodics. It's peanuts to them either way now. Bizarre that they would hold off on a deal, making him miss all their pre season as well as ours just for £500k.

Wouldn't go as far as to call him rubbish but he needs a good amount of consistent game time to see where he is. Certainly wouldn't be writing him off just yet.

Leonard leaving on loan would be good. He needs games.

Great result and some good goals scored as well. I think it's fair to say though, without Szmodics, we'll struggle. They'll need to reinvest more than £100k of his transfer fee.

If we are planning to keep him and put him in the starting 11, probably the best place for him really. He isn't a striker, or a winger. Be some downgrade on Szmodics though.

He needs regular games. He won't get that here. I rate him and I think this loan should work well for all parties (assuming he gets into the team) We have an option to recall in January should we need it.

Luton town have announced that they are only changing their home kits once every 2 seasons. They are wearing last years kit for this season. Stops people needlessly forking out £60 for a new shirt every year but then some love a new shirt every season.

Nar means nothing these days. Clubs and players can agree terms before the deal between the 2 clubs is agreed. Rovers will have said its OK for Sammie to talk to Ipswich and the fee can be agreed later. I'd imagine we have got the fee sorted as such already but it'll be the finer points that need finalising.

Buckley and Markanday have consistently shown that they aren't up to it at this level. I think we'll end up keeping Buckley just for numbers sake, but if we land a few more attacking targets, we'll try and shift Markanday for sure. He'll end up in league one.

2 really interesting options for a goalkeeper but for some reason the manager is pining for Ruddy? Ruddy would be a terrible, short term sticking plaster. If we actually pished the boat out and signed someone decent, it would make a huge, huge difference to the team.

The situation we were in was probably the main reason but JE has always tended to play more experienced players when possible and he's been playing an experienced team in the friendlies so far (and then a second 11 in the second game/half). I think he'll give them more time in training before putting them on the pitch in the championship, Weimann is ready made for the championship and I just think JE will go with that to start with. Also, Gueye doesn't even speak English and Ohashi's English is poor. Think it will be a few weeks before we start seeing their involvement. Could be wrong, just my take on it (which means nothing really 😂)

Yeah he's no where near good enough. With Gueye, Leonard, Tyjon and possibly Weimann and Ohashi able to play in the striker role, I can't see Vale being kept around. Someone has to take him off our hands though.

Shame really. I had hopes that he would come back and have a good season for us in the back of a seemingly positive loan spell. He's also supposedly a good crosser of the ball, which makes it even more odd now we've got a striker who is built to get on the end of crosses.
