  1. Aye possibly. He is our captain though, which is why it would be a surprise to see him dropped in the next few weeks.
  2. I really don't want to see a back 3. I think, as someone mentioned in another thread, the surprises in the team selection going forward will end up being Lenihan phased out in favour of Wharton. A back 3 keeps Ayala and Lenihan in the team (for now) but gets some much needed minutes into Wharton. Just my thoughts anyway.
  3. In other news, the Scottish Wayne Rooney, David Goodwillie has scored his 12th goal of the season (in Scottish League one)
  4. Is this why we sold our training ground, to avoid a points deduction?
  5. Yeah, I was thinking that not having a new deal sorted might galvanise him a little but if got a new deal he might just revert to type. I suppose ultimately, he's too streaky to make a consistent assault on the play off places, regardless of his contract situation. Bit no, I wouldn't be handing him a new contract before the summer and even then, he would have had to pull off something spectacular to even be offered a contract in the summer. Inevitably, we will tumble down the league to our usual Mowbray place of mid-lower table and hopefully a parting of ways in the summer (at the latest)
  6. The problem with Mowbray (ok one of the problems) is that he is a very streaky manager for us. We often go on good runs of being unbeaten, only to follow that up without being able to buy a win. Because of that, any contract offer needs to wait until the summer. Give him a new 2 year deal (let's say) in Jan because we are 5th/6th but then could very well nose dive down the league and win something like 2 out of 15 games. I can see where you're coming from but there is also the possibility that him knowing he'll be out of contract at the end of the season might actually prove to be a motivator to make him actually earn a new contract (I know, I know). As soon as he's got his new deal, he might take the foot off the gas and start talking about Journey's again.
  7. For the first time, I tested out streaming my Xbox to phone, connecting my controller to my phone and playing it that way. Have to admit, I was skeptical it would work at all but it worked really well. Admittedly the screen is small and that does have an impact but I am now tempted to get a phone mount for my controller (can be bought for less than £10) as the wife often watches utter crap on TV on a night. Anyone else regularly stream their console to a phone?
  8. Appointing him only till the end of the season is a smart move. These sort of appointments normally start well before fading quickly. Cardiff probably hoping he can gain enough points to avoid relegation and review in the summer.
  9. Next job for Lamprd is a big one (for him) he wasn't at either Derby or Chelsea for very long and his team's have always been prone to conceding goals. Norwich would be a risky move as I doubt he'd keep them up, would Norwich be willing to grant him the time for a promotion push if they did go down? Gerrard to Villa is definitely a gamble but at least managed 3 years at Rangers, winning the league and going unbeaten etc. The caveat being, it's the SPL with a Celtic team on the slide. Even so, I suspect that Gerrard will have more success at Villa than Lampard will at Norwich (or wherever his next job is)
  10. I'll be amazed if we sign anyone in January. Most likely scenario would be selling Lenihan before his contract expires and lamating a difficult window to buy a replacement and failing to sign a replacement. "Go with what we have" until the summer (when we will probably fail again)
  11. I've never understood the blaming of the players arguement. Unless it's clear that the players have downed tools completely but even then I'd be looking at the manager for allowing to get to that level. Everything from the training and preparation before games to the formation, tactics, starting 11, game plan, substitutions to the mentality, desire, will to win of the players is all stems from the manager. It's shown time and time again that when poor managers fail, better ones come in and get more out of the same players. OGS is a poor manager, if his next job was for a mid/lower prem team, he'd really struggle. No point in giving him anymore time as he's no where near being a top level manager.
  12. Probably an issue at my end but I realised that I followed the Rovers Trust on Twitter but none of their posts appear in my timeline. If I go onto the Rovers Trust Twitter page, I can see them?
  13. The odious little cretin is clearly after anothe job in the UK. Name drops: ✅ Alex Ferguson ✅ Moyes (in form manager of the moment) ✅ Pulis ✅ Coleman Glamourising his playing career by saying he played with (former) Portuguese internationals, forgetting he amassed a grand total of 49 senior apps in his entire career. Worked with (and presumably claiming the development for) ✅ Kasper schmeichel ✅ Jordan Henderson Throws in the mental health aspect to keep it more current and to show his human side in the face of all those horrible Rovers fans. ✅ Career success in the form of a league title (in Brunei 😂) 🤷‍♂️ Would he return to "where it all began" back home in Scotland⁉️ 👍 Of course. (Reads, please give me a job in Scotland) What a scummy little prick he is.
  14. Mowbray's tenure summed up in a week: The old adage "it could have been 5 or 6, we were that bad" has been trotted out many a time under Mowbray, only this time Fulham put us to the sword in emphatic fashion, with us being truly woeful. Fast forward just 3 days and we are putting in a great performance and winning, against a newly relegated team, which our manager constantly tells us we can't compete with. As always, the truth lies somewhere in the middle and no doubts that's where Mowbray has us heading. Not consistent enough to mount a serious challenge for a top 6 place and always prone to some seriously horrific performances which throw the managers ability into question. As bad as Wednesday was and as good as yesterday was, ultimately, we'll just end up somewhere in the middle. 12th (ish) and that's all it ever will be under Tony. The only question is, how ambitious are Venkys? If their aim is to get back into the premier League, they are going to have to ditch this ridiculous HSH managerial list and actually appoint someone decent. If the aim is to plod around the middle of the championship, then we might as well keep Mowbray in place forever. We might as well turn the lights off now if the answer is the second one.
  15. Well Mowbray being away from training seems to have done the trick! Go on, you've gotta say more about the out of contract lot now!
