  1. 3 games gone, less than 2 weeks to go in the window and we still havent done anything to improve our attack that desperately needed improvements long ago. Guessing the Travis situation is a bottleneck before we can scramble in some nobody of a right winger and thatll be that, 4 or 5 senior bodies down. Exciting indeed.
  2. The issue I have with the Mafoumbi situation is not that we took a cheap punt on a youngster, didnt work out, thats fine. Its that we clearly had intentions of looking abroad. So it was a total lack of foresight shown by Gestede and Owen to be willing to use up an ESC slot on a cheap punt.
  3. Where is this from? Also, you have not elaborared on your comments about Hyam being missing at the weekend.
  4. Strange that he doesnt considering these stupid targets for bringing kids through, ready or not.
  5. Need more than one either way. One if not 2 wide men and a striker. And seemingly will just get a winger. Probably some random no mark from a poor foreign league.
  6. That is one hell of a statement. Modric won the Balon Dor and Scholes is seen by many as the best ever Premier League midfielder.
  7. Taking direct replacements for the likes of Travis and then if they go, Tronstad and Hyam as a given, and a seperate issue. A right winger and striker obviously are essential. On top of that, I think we need another winger as we dont have any quality there, a midfielder as Montgomery/Forshaw are not of the required quality. And ideally another centre back due to injury proneness. Its about quality, not just names written down. Even if we bought a right winger and striker and loaned 2 or 3 on top, that would be ok. As it is, only a right winger seems to be on the agenda. Not only do we lack quality but when injuries hit we are going to look very weak.
  8. Even more of an issue with Hyam out, like he was on Saturday.
  9. Didnt Mercer give the Burnley game a wide berth out of fear?
  10. Did Montgomery not stand out at under 21 level either? Certainly doesnt look close to being at first team level.
  11. He will wriggle out of an answer then say down the line that hes already answered.
  12. Thats not justification.
  13. Wages are higher than turnover across the Championship. Why are we now justifying our total inability to get any senior players to sign new deals? If anyone sees what is going on at this club and thinks that its got a genuine ambition to get into the Premier League. Then they havent been paying attention.
  14. I still am none the wiser as to finding a valid justification and it wasnt a question to ask what best suits you personally.
  15. Yverdon Sport have played 3 games since their opener in which Baradji played, and he hasnt been involved in any of them.
  16. Grass isnt always greener though apparently and he should have just accepted whatever pathetic offer we put his way. Plus he missed some of pre season which proved that.
  17. Assombolonga has had 2 failed seasons abroad in Turkey (the latest in the second tier) after a failed brief spell at Watford, and is 32.
  18. @chaddyrovers do you think its fair to "give options" for fans and indeed is it thinking of fans. To show SEVEN EFL games at the same time (an awkward time of half 12) every Saturday? Considering the inconvenience to fans.
  19. Come on chaddy. Are the actions of this football club, one who cannot offer competitive wages to get any proven first team players to sign, befitting one that genuinely cares and is striving for promotion? You seem a bit paranoid about the alignment but Ismael seems more and more pissed off with each passing interview. Dont swallow the "transition season" rubbish. Its operation cut backs, results are secondary. New players will always say the stuff about pushing for Premier League etc. I do somewhat sympathise for Ismael as no one can possibly appreciate how rotten this club is until in on the inside. He is far from one of the major issues at the club, although to be honest I dont think hes a good manager. Maybe you disagree now.
  20. Trust you to dismiss the majority of my post that you have no constructive comeback to and instead be pedantic over wording. If we genuinely are holding off signing someone until someone who will be on a really low wage who isnt part of the first team picture departs on loan, then its pretty pathetic. I suspect that Leonard might go out but he isnt one of the players they consider that needs replacing. I dont think Buckley would be replaced either, I think Ismael spoke of first teamers needing a replacement. To be honest, it wouldnt surprise me if Pears wasnt even replaced and we went with Michalski who clearly isnt ready.
  21. Yep, its not like our team is uncompetitive. But you strip away all of them pesky snakes that were also our key experienced heads who could manage games properly and results will go in the opposite direction. Also, Eustace was pragmatic enough to set us up in a way where we could grind out results. Still not entirely sure what Ismael is trying to do. We got the odd thrashing but even under Coyle or that second season under Tomasson with such a young and underfunded teams, it was often frustratingly tight games that kept going against us. At the moment we can put it down to misfortune but it wont be if it keeps happening.
  22. So its because we cant afford to sign someone without loaning out a young lad who isnt part of the first team? "Simple football matters" yet you arent implicitly saying its financial or otherwise.
  23. Having 7 EFL games all on simultaneously but on Sky - totally justifiable (for reasons as of yet unspecified) Teams moving games because they are playing European football but on TNT - the real issue
  24. No doubt that strikers would score less without better players out wide, but better strikers find themselves getting chances either way due to their movement and anticipation. The Rhodes example was a good one by @MarkBRFC how did he score 30 goals considering the crap around him? Similar with Szmodics. Sadly, we have a lack of quality both up front and in the wide areas. This nonsense about players "in the building" is just parroted claptrap. Why is the future of Leonard who will be on peanuts and isnt involved with the first team relevant? Are we really that hard up that a couple of grand a week or whatever is stopping us from signing anyone? Buckley isnt in first team squads, he is behind a kid who has started 2 senior games and done terribly in both, and was in the 9th tier last season. Again, what is he blocking? Is it financial? Car park spaces? Hooks to put kit on?
