  1. https://westbrom.com/forum/index.php?topic=27002.500 West Brom fans put Wallace's decline down to an injury which has robbed him of half a yard of pace.
  2. He does seem to be idolised by the few with more money than sense who pay for his patreon and then come on here and defend him to the hilt. All a bit strange.
  3. You keep trying to dismiss my argument that we shouldnt sign certain players we are linked with because I am not a scout with a handy list of numerous players to hand. We badly need pace, our attack is so laborious, dull and slow. We should be spending money too, it shouldnt just be players in their 30s on loan. Jed Wallace was a very good Championship winger in his day. Now, a direct Championship rival deems him as nothing other than a sub to use at the end. He hasnt had any impact all season, is 31 soon and his athleticism will be on the wane. Bamford is constantly injured and is currently out for 4 weeks. Hardly one to come straight in. He hasnt scored many goals for a number of years with injuries catching up on him. Im guessing youd want both "because Eustace wants them" and "Harry Leonard says we need experience." If our January transfer window ended with Forshaw, Sanderson, Wallace and Bamford. Do you fancy us for top 6?
  4. We badly need pace, it seems like we are just trying to sign hasbeens.
  5. He scored 14 goals in the season after the one you presumably are referring to. That is a very impressive goal tally for a wide player. He also scored almost 1 in 2 at Premier League level in the second half of last season for a side that was terrible.
  6. He isnt probably better, hes considerably better.
  7. It wont happen but he is far, far better than what we have. He hasnt really played since he left but he did well in the Premier League for Sheffield United. He has pace and gives you goals.
  8. Brereton would be a very good signing, but it isnt happening. Would be something if we signed with an obligation to buy upon promotion, if we then got promoted and paid a big fee for a player we let go for free when we had chances to sell for big money the summer before when the owners refused.
  9. His movement is the strongest part of his game to be fair to him, its what he does when he gets into those positions that is lacking at the moment. Either way, I dont see a Championship standard striker there at the moment and regular game time ideally in League 1. He has missed a lot of football out injured and it could enhance his development.
  10. Its not saying he wont be good enough, just that he isnt good enough at the moment. Especially considering his injuries, he could do with a loan to get some regular game time.
  11. I thought he was poor and I think in general he isnt up to Championship standard at the moment and could do with a regular run of games out on loan especially after his bad luck with injuries. The one thing he does have is the anticipation to get into goalscoring positions, he probably got into as many today as Gueye has all season. It tends to be a natural ability rather than something you can teach. He did it last season a lot too but as for much of last season it was followed with poor finishing. His repeated inability to stay onside was frustrating as it broke down the potential of any attacks.
  12. A lot dismiss its importance but always good to get through to the next round of the cup and also to halt a poor run of form. Boro rolled over with a massively changed side whereas we put close to our most likely available 11 out so you would expect us to win but a professional job nonetheless. Defence again solid as a rock, never felt like we would concede. Toth made a decent save and a few standard catches although a couple of mistakes on the ball. Tronstad as ever very good. Going forward we simply dont have the quality. Leonard is nowhere near it, missed some sitters and doesnt seem to understand the offside rule. Cantwell again anonymous, JRC never a winger and Weimann is over the hill but at least he has the ability to put away chances. We badly need some quality and pace through the door ASAP. In light of Baker going back, Travis being out and signing Forshaw, Buckley unfortunately might have a bit of a run at game time. He again was terrible.
  13. Theyll be showing that first half to torture people. Our attack is so flat and slow. Leonard doesnt understand the offside rule. Toth has played some lovely passes. Sadly theyve all gone to Boro players.
  14. Its clearly not much or we would be signing players from Plymouths bench and Birminghams reserves. You even keep saying we should sign someone for x value but we wont so you must know. Ive seen Forshaw a number of times over the years as he was a good player a long time ago but even at Leeds he was contoniously injured and was never the same. He has barely played all season at Plymouth so I havent seen him this season but yes, the fact that their fans are all laughing at us and the fact that he couldnt get in their team doss say a lot. Do you think that the 2 especially Forshaw are capable of playing for a side you think can make the play offs.
  15. Sanderson I dont mind too much as a squad player who both now and for the season is just cover. And I rate the player much more than Forshaw. Forshaw is a really poor signing in a position where we need someone to play for the next month and then be immediate cover.
  16. But would he have wanted those signings if we had even a reasonable and competitive budget?
  17. So to clarify, you are happy with both signings and feel they strengthen our chances of making the top 6?
  18. They wont, but the fact that Forshaw isnt fit for purpose is a criticism of them.
  19. What is clear is youll manage to justify any deal we make this window. Sanderson is underwhelming but understandable. He will be 4th choice but initially third, hes not over the hill and he can be a decent enough defender at this level. Forshaw though, we need someone who can play for the next month. Not a hasbeen who Plymouth fans cant believe we are taking. Your argument for him could justify anyone, we arent going to get someone as good as Travis. Maybe not, but Baker at least was good cover.
  20. He was only available due to a fall out, in his prime years and the captain of a side that had been around the play offs for a couple of years. When we signed Baker the reaction was not the same as it is to Forshaw and he didnt have the same credentials as Travis.
  21. Not sure if someone said similar earlier but Ipswich were chasing promotion and lacking depth they loaned Lewis Travis. Would have cost them much more than a Plymouth reserve but you are loaning quality to really push.
  22. The players do get support in the ground, thats not in question. He comes across as petulant and half arsed when he gets a game. To be honest, I think he is nowhere near as good as he or many fans think purely in terms of ability. Hes passive, ponderous, doesnt seem to know what is around him and is prone to playing lazy passes and crosses forward.
  23. The Sanderson signing is less of a concern than the potential Forshaw one because of the options we have in both positions I think. He also at least isnt over the hill. We have injuries to Carter and Travis but at centre back, we have 2 good options so hopefully they stay fit until Carter is back when Sanderson can go to being 4th choice. In the nicest possible way, hopefully he never plays for us because it will mean that defenders we know are strong remain fit. With midfield, we only have 1 capable fit options rather than 2 as Buckley isnt good enough. It means that Forshaw might be needed for the next month and I dont think hes capable, I forsee a big downgrade not only on Travis but also on Baker for a number of games. People keep saying about saving our resources for a striker and out wide, lets see. Goes against anything we have learnt to expect that to be the case. And even if it is, we cant afford to be weak in other areas but we are going to be in midfield now in terms of quality. As has been touched on, Eustace either knowing them or endorsing these deals doesnt automatically mean they are good. They scream all we can afford.
  24. I never said get a player better than Travis or Tronstad. But we need ones that can fill in and not cause a significant downgrade in the quality of the side. We have seen time and time again that its a squad game and you need squad players to be up to a good standard. Baker was a solid enough squad option, he wasnt as effective as Travis but he was good to have. We have Travis out and the other alternative is Buckley who isnt up to it. The issue is money. There clearly isnt any hence taking players unwanted at a League 1 side and bottom of the Championship. Doesnt scream play off push does it. Jason Lowe has Championship experience. He also knows the club which is a regular phrase of yours. Would you take him back? I dont know which players I would sign as I am not a scout, that counter argument doesnt make my opinions invalid. Equally, I dont think that the one we have signed suggest that we will have the depth to sustain a play off push so unfortunately we might replicate previous seasons in which too small a number of players up to standard cause a second half of the season decline. You keep talking about players being able to slot straight in. Neither has played much football in recent months, especially Sanderson. Does that worry you?
  25. Loaning players from the division below again doesnt scream of a club or specifically owners bothered about any top 6 push. Want players to slot straight in? Not played really all season, so thats a cross. People keep saying "well Eustace must want him" as if that makes us exempt from being able to judge by ourselves. He presumably would try and get better players if he wasnt on such a pathetic budget.
