That *was* the January Window
roverblue replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
As expected the owners refused to invest the Wharton money. Let’s hope it’s due to an impending sale of the club. -
Agreed him and Pears were the only two that deserved praise I thought. Gally put a shift in as well.
-
I’d reign in the gung ho approach generally. Things like stopping overcommitting full backs and midfielders forward so that when the opposition breaks we are either 1v1 or outnumbered. Happened loads yesterday and we were fortunate their striker was worse than Jason Robert’s at taking chances. I’d also focus on getting the ball forward quicker, we take that long the opposition have regrouped and we create nothing of note as a result. It also causes us an issue in defence as we get penned in and make mistakes leading to opposition chances. Scott Wharton and Dom Hyam are there to defend not play like Tugay in his prime so get the ball off them and up the pitch. From a formation point of view it probably looks like having fullbacks instead of wingbacks and at least two defensive mids. Then build from there after we get some clean sheets and maybe some 1-0 wins. Do I get the job Chaddy?

I think a lot look like turds due to the system we play. Go back to something more pragmatic and they start to look like championship players again.

We are going down (the pessimism thread)

I think I read on here that we were the only club in the bottom half of the league that hasn’t yet changed the manager this season. Not a trend I think we should be bucking. -
No never said that. I’m sure he would have liked them to stay as bench players but the individuals and/or club weren’t happy with that scenario.
-
Yeah I agree, was just responding to people saying that Buckley and Travis leaving was nothing to do with JDT. It all starts with the fact he doesn’t rate or play them which is fair enough. He’s been shafted no doubt from a recruitment perspective.
-
I think it starts with the manager either telling them they won’t be playing regularly or not giving them games. Then the club has to deal with the situation from a financial and squad happiness perspective. It doesn’t start with JdT being told Travis and Buckley can’t be in your first 11 and you have to loan them out.
-
Sure stick to your conspiracy theories and put it on anyone but the manager. He is taking us down to league one and leaving in the summer regardless.
-
I agree it was also mainly shite last season but we had a lot more luck. JDT dropped Kaminski for Pears for the 2nd half of the season after his injury. JDT didn’t rate Buckley or Travis and sent them away on loan. The squad fundamentally aren’t suited to this style and what’s more it isn’t effective in the championship.

However nice a guy JDT is and we enjoy his exposing of the shit show the club is, he is taking us down. As much as I’d like new owners and execs the only lever we have to try and stop the slump is a change in manager. The longer we leave it the more likely it will be we go down just like with the Coyle situation. He leaves in the summer anyway whether we go down or not. At that point the damage is done. -
The same squad finished 7th last year with the only regular difference being Brereton. People need to stop making excuses for the manager, some of you on here are in complete denial about where this ends if they don’t change him.
-
Aside from the post match circus that was yet another dreadful home performance. Whether McGuire signs or not it won’t matter as we create nothing for him. It’s a team of kids shoe horned into positions and a way of playing they are complete unsuited. I can only guess that the JDT fan boys don’t actually go to Ewood because it’s been complete shite all season. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out Jon.
-
I don’t care how we go about it today but please just get a win and get us moving up the table. Launch it forward, put the corners in, blacken some eyes, pick up some cards, make QPR know they are in a football match and not a training session. Rovers 3 -1 QPR Gallagher hat trick 😂 (in his dreams)

Jon Dahl Tomasson - no longer Sweden coach
roverblue replied to Tom's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I wouldn't cry if he was to leave as been unimpressed with the results and performances on the pitch at home all season. We don't have the players for his system and his approach is far too naive and open for the championship. It is a shame that the club won't let him come out and speak the truth about the utter shambolic way its run though. He's gone up in my estimation if that was his plan. -

Sorry should have been clearer I’m talking over the last few seasons. Dack, Brereton, Ayala, Rothwell, Lenihan, Kaminski basically anyone with experience and a high wage. We would be lucky to name a first eleven and bench with players we actually own when all these loans and short term deals end. -

I know they wont but Waggot or Broughton need to come out and explain exactly what the f is going on. They cant hide from the fact with Raya and Wharton being sold that it’s roughly £25m coming into the club. They can’t hide from the fact we have butchered the squad of experience and saleable assets meaning the wage bill must be massively lower than it was in the last few seasons. What is the plan for £25m and will some or any of it be reinvested? Until that becomes clear they can stick my season ticket up their ass for next year. -

Just watched that Wharton interview and it’s clear he didn’t want to go. He even says he wasn’t expecting to go so soon. This is all a fall out from the court case and Venky dodgy dealings catching up with them. The ‘model’ now is letting them own the club without putting their hands in their pocket. The chickens will come home to roost, there is only Szmodic left they can realistically flog for worthwhile money so he will go in the summer. Then all that’s left is bum dossers who we can get £1-2m for if we are lucky. -

It’s insane to me that Travis and Wharton have left and we haven’t got anyone in to replace them. People are in denial saying x or y can fill in there as if that’s good enough to get us through the season. The squad is being completely stripped of any quality and replaced by crap loans that are nowhere near good enough and won’t be here in 6 months. -

What a shower of shit the club is these days, can we not recall Travis now that Wharton has gone? -

I said we would regret letting Travis go and it’s already looking likely. We are now left with a central midfield of Tronstad and Garrett with anyone else filling in out of their natural position. Also neither have had injuries yet this season which means it’s probably due. Unless Broughton has the most spectacular 24 hours of his career we are totally screwed for the rest of the season. -

Watched on tv and enjoyed it, the best we have played for a while. The team look so much better for having Dolan,Gally, JRC and Pears back in. Let’s hope we carry it forward to QpR on Saturday as we are desperate for a home win. -

If Wharton does go it feels like we won’t have time to really spend any of it either way. hopefully if it happens he stays on loan till summer. I don’t have much faith that anyone at rovers has deals lined up ready to go for players that cost money. More likely they spent all January lining up potential cheap loans if we got a few quid in. -
Venky’s v Indian Government (a)

Every time they do these statements it just raises more questions than gives answers. We were told the funding covered the period up to December last time out. So presumably we can’t pay January or February bills until this court case in March? Yet they seem to make out like they have the money?!?
