  1. I think we'll get to 1,000 pages - a collective diatribe against Venky's. Waggott and perhaps Broughton. The frustration is building!
  2. Seems like Mowbray to be confirmed at Sunderland. Spent a fair bit of time working in the NE, including Sunderland, over my working life and they will tear him to shreds if he starts with his, IMO, fantasy journeys, excuses and general bullshit. It is not a club with 'happy clappers'.
  3. In my mind, Blackpool has never been a happy hunting ground for Rovers. Someone may have the stats but in the last 55-60 years or so, I don't recall more than half a dozen Rovers' wins. Been on that ground when we've had some real thumpings with 3/4/5 goals flying in past our goalie.
  4. Wow, Kevin Hird, John Bailey and 'Waggy'.................................!!!!! Feckin hell, Hird and Bailey were sensational as attacking full backs tearing defences apart. JDT could do no better than make our present incumbents watch videos of those two. Waggy was just sublime. His left foot was like a magician's wand. Happy days!
  5. I don't think it is. If you want a goal scorer and he goes 32 games without scoring a goal it would suggest he's not your man. Look at the greats such as Law, Shearer, Lineker and at the 'lower' end the likes of Simon Garner, they all notched on a regular basis when they broke through to their respective 1st teams. Likewise, if a plumber can't fix a leak after 32 attempts, he's not your man. Unless me delving into the wine too early on Bank Holiday Monday has dulled my thought process, I think the comparisons are very valid. As regards Rovers 'scouting players properly here' then some of the shi1te we've signed over recent years would suggest otherwise.
  6. He's a lot more hair there than when he joined us as a 21 year old. Brotherston died at just under 40 from a heart attack - absolutely tragic. He lived in a house on Preston New Road virtually opposite the old Fergusons' Nursery (garden centre) at Beardwood (flats now built there). Was plying his trade as a painter and decorator - a lovely chap.
  7. If you have a leak in your house and the same plumber has 32 goes at repairing it without success then what would you think!? Only a d1ckhead would give the same plumber 32 opportunities but you get my drift.
  8. Don't think it's going to happen. No way Tony would be playing 'hard to get' - at the merest hint it would be a case of 'where do I sign'. Amazed he's even been mentioned - if I was a Sunderland fan I'd be jumping into the Wear with a ball and chain around my ankle at the prospect of Mowbray as manager.
  9. We didn't! The lad chose Schalke as I said he would less than an hour ago.
  10. There have to be better options out there. We need a speedy resolution to Brereton. IMO, we need to sell him today or accept he's leaving next summer for nowt. What we don't want is a sale on Thursday.
  11. We need Sunderland to quickly confirm Mowbray then he can come and mop up some of our dross giving us more scope fee and wage wise.
  12. Indeed. Other big question - will Bowler play? Too early to make any sort of call on this match.
  13. Bundesliga or Championship? If Nicko is correct then I know what Liverpool and player would prefer.
  14. No. Eddie Quig signed him from PNE for circa £50k and we sold him to Hull for circa £60k 2 or 3 years later for financial reasons and we got relegated (along with Bolton) to the old Third Division that season. With Knighton in our team that would not have happened.
  15. Think last midfielder we bought from PNE was Ken Knighton about 50 years ago. He had the feckin lot - physicality, aggression, tackled like a tank, could pass a ball through the eye of a needle and had a cannonball shot and he was a leader! Ken would be priceless these days.
  16. Beg to differ. Think he loses focus and gets involved in niggly wind-ups / skirmishes (Stuart Metcalfe was like that). I think Mowbray blocked him from blossoming. When Travis first broke through he was also good driving forward and could pick a pass. To me, that part of his game has largely disappeared. Think there is a real player in there but needs some shrewd management and some help on the field - powder puff Buckley aint the feckin answer.
  17. Spot on. We need an experienced warrior in there. Travis isn't that and never will be though with help, could become a very good Championship midfielder - to me he's a lot more in his locker than he shows and has room for development.
  18. Hope @chaddyroversis okay - thought he'd be all over the MB following announcement of Hyam signing.
  19. Hyam sounds like a good signing. Looking forward to seeing him at Blackpool. Four or five more similar ones (proven players who can cut it in Championship, have room for development and are seldom in the treatment room) please Rovers.
  20. Sorry about your loss. Think the death of your father is one of life's most challenging experiences. There can be a sense of emptiness and maybe a feeling of fragility. Just hang on to the memories your father gave you, they will last a lifetime.
