  1. Past hour
  2. Rubbish in goal though, ball goes straight through his hands.
  3. On a serious note, if Buckley does go to Saudi we may see levels of languid football up to now thought impossible. A relaxed play style in 40 degrees heat. A pivoting central midfielder who literally stands on one spot and pivots
  4. also quite handy on crosses…..
  5. First Ronaldinho, then Beckham, and now Jesus Christ. At least the club isn't afraid to dream big. Pros: - Creative - Produces miracles - and we need a few! - Lots of followers - will be good for the socials - Should qualify for a Minister of Religion visa to keep the ESC slot open Cons: - Not a right winger - Can only play on Sundays - Is he as good as his Dad?
  6. An English Qualified Player is someone who is eligible for England senior team when he first permanently registers with the club in question.
  7. If there are no bidders for Pears by the closure of the transfer window then it's a no brainer to keep him as number 2 and loan out Michalski until the January. I thought Pears had a pretty decent season considering the many clangers the year before. He showed a lot of mental strength to come back better. I'm not suggesting he's on par with Toft, who I add hasn't won me completely over yet - that will take games and how he responds to a mistake - but I do think Pears is a useful member of the squad who could come in and perform if needed. Ideally, we would sell him and bring in another experienced goalkeeper who is happy to be back up, but if that doesn't happen then i'm fine by that.
  8. I must admit, I do enjoy a good Old Codger rant
  9. Have they gone a bit early with this? Surely tickets won't be going off sale today or is someone down there confused.
  10. Who needs to use public transport when your car can do 15,000 miles to the gallon? I'm looking forward to us discussing how you get to the 12:30 Birmingham away kick off by canoe again. That was interesting.
  11. The Rolling Stones - You Can’t Always Get What You Want
  12. Fully believe we'll lose our first 7 league games. We'll somehow scrape a win against Swansea on 30th September before going on another run, maybe with a couple of draws in there.
  13. Today
  14. English qualified players is different to English players though right? So someone like Tavares would contribute to the minutes I think?
  15. I'd still give him an hour up top. The ball doesn't stick with Ohashi so he's worth a punt.
  16. Highly unusual and suspect. Never been questioned enough.
  17. Another masterstroke of misinformed bollocks from the media department. Had to chuckle at the LT article where it said "There is an option for Dan Diego to buy Duru" Proof reading has gone to pot at the LT.
  18. It was a poorly directed header tho - completely unchallenged. A weapon when you're drifting in at the back post (as if we cross it!) but he'd win zero duels against CBs.
  19. One thing that surprised me about Kargbo was the leap on him for that header on Sat. Granted he missed but I've not seen someone of his stature hang in the air like that since Speedie. Perhaps out of our current options, he may be the best fit at actually leading the line. He has the pace to scare cbs to death and may be able to hold his own in the air. Just a thought. But then we'd need 2 wingers and we can't even find one.
  20. Some people go to regular away games. Will they have to repeatedly go down the night before and get hotels and book time off? @arbitro highlights examples of the nightmare it can cause re public transport but you dont use it so you dont acknowledge it. And what about even home fans who might have for example their kids playing football in the morning? Ive told you my alternative and it isnt a series of different kick offs across the weekend. Its to revert back just to 1 game each Saturday 12.30. The viewing figures for the other 6 games must be very small because you can only watch 1 at once. Its not worth the inconvenience. Yes it means clubs getting less money, so less greed which only ends up in the hands of players, agents, directors etc anyway, clubs are still losing loads of money. It also gives Sky less chance to keep putting up their prices. Its not going to happen, football clubs, the EFL and Sky dont care about fans, but at least acknowledge that it causes massive inconveniences up and down the country for fans and is just greed going out of control.
  21. RE Duru https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/25406730.clarity-blackburn-rovers-deal-transfer-confusion/ initial loan does run until December, which is when the MLS play-offs end. However, there is an option to extend that loan deal until June and there is every expectation that will be taken up. The agreement also includes an option for Dan Diego to buy Duru at the end of his deal, understood to be a six-figure sum. The 20-year-old signed a new contract with Rovers in 2024, which runs until the summer of 2026 with the option of a further 12 months. So all in all, San Diego had it right (not Rovers, big surprise), although there is a break clause in December Doesn't sound like a great deal for Rovers unless Duru has made it abundantly clear that he will not be signing another contract, which in turn would explain why Dury was not used with the first team in pre/early season
  22. Al Sahafi has been in Antwerp finalising a move.
  23. Old Codger's rants are becoming my favourite daily read!
  24. Is that something you've heard or just throwing it out there?
  25. That's a vey bald prediction.
