  1. Past hour
  2. Someone needs to ask Yasir what makes him qualified to tell Rovers' fans how they should feel about the club (as a publicly outed Arsenal fan) .
  3. Today
  4. I think to specifically lay out objectives of certain minutes played is the issue though. If it was a case of try and bring graduates through where possible, but its flexible, then theres less risk that we start bringing through kids that arent ready purely to hit the objective. We will have years where there are talented players ready to feature like Wharton and Phillips, but also dry spells. The issue is the likes of Vale, Garrett and even the amount of game time Leonard got were as a result of the inadequacies of the squad and budget, not because they justified those minutes. For example, we wouldnt have needed an objective in place to blood Wharton and Phillips as they were justifiably part of the team/squad.
  5. I take it the FF that was scheduled for Monday has been re-arranged?
  6. I get the Selles one less than the Cleverley one. With Watford, they arent in danger of relegation barring something catastrophic but par for them isnt necessarily top 6. Their aim though like many (including us, and we keep fucking this up by forcing talented managers out) should be to get into the top 6 because below the usual 2 or 3 parachute teams that steamroll the division, there is always an opportunity. To get there, your best bet is a really good manager/head coach who gets a team playing beyond the sum of its parts, so its worth gambling if you dont feel the current manager can do that. No idea who their new appointment is or if he fits the bill, but its a fair assumption that Cleverley wasnt capable of overachieving. Their record in the second half of the season was the worst in the division. With Hull, even factoring in debate as to whether they should or shouldnt have sacked Rosenior, perhaps not, but still the main reason for their decline was the massive decline in playing squad. They sold key players including Philogene and Greaves and lost a number of expensive loans last summer including Carvalho and Zaraoury. He managed to keep them up which was the aim (although only by the skin of their teeth). That being said, I cant fathom why anyone who isnt a fan of either would get angry (and potentially wish them to be relegated) as a result. Why would we have such a vested interest. Even before considering the hypocrisy after wanting a managerial change here after a month.
  7. ‘We tried to get some cash deals over the line… but they were on the 15th June’.
  8. Yeah, he's had two loan spells there. One in 22-23 and obviously this season too.
  9. Last game of season 1977. We won 1-0 at Ewood. Fulham, I think.🤔
  10. The poorest bit of recruitment for me last summer was Amario Cozier-Duberry. That "prem" winger loan was absolutely crucial, suspect the club thought they'd brought in a tricky Saka type player that could make the difference. I thought they might have. Turns out he wasn't up to the mens game at all and it resulted in us relying on Dolan again in nearly every game. If they'd got this loan position right, with an Omari Hutchinson or Rak-Sakyi type we'd probably have made the playoffs...... but those loans cost money. It really does feel as though £500,000 - £1,500,000 cut here and there from season to season has damaged some of the best chances we'll ever get of getting back to the Premier League. As others have suggested when you look at the margins and how we've been closer more often at crucial points in a season than many other teams - without ever quite taking it seriously enough, going up really doesn't appear to be the goal.
  11. I watched Duru in that game at Rochdale. From what I saw he’s nowhere near ready for a first team spot. The game just passed him by.
  12. Like Finneron last year, if Eze isn't announced now with the rest of them then I think its pretty safe to say he won't be staying.
  13. Harvey Higgins signed up, no news about Eze
  14. Yes... I think there is an bias against youth from managers who prefer to work with experienced players. But usually young players do better than expected in my time watching rovers. Sure they might not be brilliant, but compared to other not brilliant older players the gap is not maybe as big as anticipated. Creating an expectation to play youth is a good thing imo. Adds risks, but then again we have seen some really poor performances from players who are 28+ so I wouldn't sweat it too much. I'd say the balance in the ideal XI you would want is - 3 experienced pros (29 to 33 y.o.) - 5 mid career established pros (23 to 29 yo) - 3 promising young players from the academy (18 to 23 y.o.) An issue is often those young player spots are taken up by loans which is great when you get next level quality like Harvey Elliot or Van Hecke. But when it's mediocre performers like ACD etc we're giving away valuable experience to other clubs. All of this is a bit pointless if we can't get those young players to sign long contracts though and let them walk away for free.
  15. Yep, definitely don’t want to get trigger happy and want a manager sacked after a month…
  16. Maybe he's analysed results and performances since Selles arrived, spoken to key players and staff, and concluded their chances are probably better with a different coach? All concepts that are long gone from this club but actually occur everywhere else where there are owners keen to get somewhere in the game rather than just make up the numbers every year.
  17. Hull's owner actually invests in his club and wants them to get somewhere and isn't afraid of making big and potentially expensive and risky decisions to achieve something. Might work, might not, at least he can say he's tried and I'd rather be in their shoes than ours. Compare to our owners he's a world away and not in a good way for Rovers. Our owners have and would again sit back and allow a failing manager to drag the club into the lower divisions purely because they have no interest in the club's performance. No other owner would allow that. They deserve no credit at all for showing 'patience' which is actually total disinterest nothing more.
  18. Ty is an absolute credit to the club - has given his all, always fit and available, has played week in week out for the last few years, a rarity in our squad. Fans expect him to tear it up every game, but the defensive side and covering side of his game has really come on, and to perform at that level and keep fit is something we shouldn't take for granted. When he's on it, he really is on it, and at times he's lit up Ewood all on his own. After certain games myself and fans around me have found themselves walking away saying you wouldn't miss him, maybe we can cope with him leaving, he can go etc. His inconsistency is what frustrates fans, as it comes from a place of genuine love for the lad - I think we all know his potential. He's got to capitalise on it now while he's young and I wouldn't begrudge him a move in the end, he deserves it for being a dedicated performer. If he did perform week in week out at the level we all know he can play at, then he would have left Rovers already, plain and simple. I'm more worried about the club's ability to replace a player with those attributes, even just the very basics of someone you can rely on to play 60-70mins every week tearing up and down the pitch, involved in chances and coming back to cover, without periods on the treatment table, for an entire season. It says more about the state of Rovers, that we couldn't afford a player like Ty Dolan if he was at another club. That's the bit that depresses me the most about the whole situation.
  19. He can't have been that much of a fan of Telalovic as he hardly ever started him . Clearly JDT wanted better
  20. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1ldvn4j48zo The Leadmill to leave venue after losing appeal A Sheffield institution, lets hope they can find anther venue.
  21. That was entirely the objective. Previously, a shit season could see you down and someone (although it was still very difficult) could go on a blinder and win the whole thing. Absolutely not a chance of either of those things happening now. Even shit small clubs like palace and Everton are safe no matter how shit they are because there will always be three teams that are just completely gash. That's before you even start getting into the complete lack of atmosphere and passion from the attendees.
  22. I agree there, they were definitely wrong to sack Rosenior
  23. I've honestly no problem with a minutes target for Academy graduates - our Academy is the only reason we still have a football club, in my opinion, it's saved us over the last decade of incompetence / budget cuts. That said in order to promote youth you simply HAVE to have a strong core of 15-18 players in your First Team. We obviously don't currently have that and won't spend the money to make it a reality either.
  24. You could set your watch to it.
  25. Both shouldn't be here next season.and their contract shouldn't be renew
