  1. Past hour
  2. Obviously you're referring to last seasons Travis. He now wants to leave so even if he played he wouldn't have given that 100%.
  3. Flowers left at Jack’s statue yesterday…
  4. Share your memories and images of Uncle Jack, the Blackburn Man of Steel, as we mark 25 years of his passing. Always in our Blue and White hearts. 💙🤍🌹
  5. Wednesday fans are much more energised & unified than Rovers fans…but Chansiri is still there…
  6. That second goal doesn’t happen if Travis is in the team, but I’m hearing he won’t be a miss and he’s replaceable.
  7. I think yesterday's late defeat shows the importance of having experienced players on the pitch when defending a lead - as soon as we made those subs late on, I felt they weren't the right players to see out the game and unfortunately, we collapsed quicker than Birmingham players did when they got touched! We need to be bringing on the likes of Hedges, not subbing them off. Saying that, mistakes have cost us in every game, so I'm not too downbeat over the results. We made WBA and Birmingham look average for large periods of the game. The important thing is that they recognise those mistakes and what is preventing us from winning games. I think we're 2-3 quality players away from a decent first team. At the very least we need an experienced striker, a creative winger and attacking midfielder who should all be commanding a first team place. Obviously, when Travis leaves, we'll need a first team player to replace him too. We'll see what fun this week has in store for us!
  8. Going to West Brom last week we spoke about the lack of creativity and as a consequence the lack of goals in the squad. And in the three games so far it is glaringly obvious that this is an area which will see us at best in mid table. I have been reasonably content with us defensively in the two league games so far. Yesterday we started the game well and it looked like the plan was to out number Birmingham in midfield with Ohashi and Cantwell playing quite deep when Birmingham had the ball. This slowed down the intensity they like to play at. Cantwell's goal was excellent, a skill which not many other Championship players could execute. We knew that soon after going ahead Ismael would go to a five at the back and play on the break. Some poor defending allowed Laird to beat three of our players and win a penalty. I haven't seen it back yet but from my seat in the JW Upper it looked so similar to the challenge on Ohashi last week when we didn't get a penalty. Toth guessed the right way but was beaten by the well struck shot. The winning goal was calamitous from our point of view. There were so many things wrong with it I don't know where to start but sometimes players have to take responsibilities. It's not like we were chasing the game or anything. My point about responsibility was hit home earlier when we had a throw in over by the Riverside. Despite the prodigious throw of Miller (which he did use most of the time) Tronstad went over for a short one perhaps I thought to pull a player out. Miller actually gave it him and then tried to dribble last an opponent and was extremely lucky to get another throw in. Silly in game decisions are sometimes on the players. Overall I thought we were worth a draw and the players worked really hard as they did at West Brom. But hard work, whilst being an assett will not win games on its own. We need some quality and that comes at a price. Over to you Venky's..................
  9. She was sold last week for 37p. To Derby.
  10. Why would getting relegated cheer folk up?
  11. That bit of disgraceful business will haunt BRFC for many many years.
  12. Yesterday, we saw a gritty performance that deserved at least a point but once again, we threw it away at the death. That will be a real hammer blow to whatever team morale we still have. Lack of goals are obviously a real problem and still needs addressing in the transfer market. I like Yuki, he grafts and is a decent penalty box finisher but he needs service, he simply is far too slow and not strong enough to play a lone role. Big Mak doesn’t look like scoring goals and I think we would get more joy pushing Kargbo central, his pace and low centre of gravity will give CH’s a real issue and should at least create more chances and hopefully goals.
  13. A few positives from yesterday: Cantwell’s distribution, effort and goal; the excellent Alebiosu; and a decent performance from Hedges. Yuki again ran around like a headless chicken, he contributed little and his positioning was poor. However it is what is happening behind him that concerns me. We are so ponderous coming out of midfield and defence with slow movement of the ball and too many touches and passes. By the time we reach the final 1/3 the opposition have their defensive shape back. We need experience and guile. You only get this with experience and virtually all of that is being shipped out in order to reduce the pay bill and replace with mostly inferior players. As Parson says our cover is thin; it is paper thin. As soon as our 3 subs came on I said to my mate we are going to blow this. I am sorry but Gueye is simply not good enough, even as an impact sub; his first touch is appalling and he miss times 90%+ of his headers - perhaps Rovers should should sent a scout to Witton Park rather than France, Belgium or West Africa. The warning signs are there. Who do we have at the Club willing, able or experienced enough to sort it out? Suhail is not capable…..I would rather trust Mrs Miggins the tea lady with the task.
  14. Today
  15. To be fair looking at stats like that dont give a true reflection of a game. I'm as critical as anyone, but when the triple sub was made just before the penalty I was feeling pretty good, thought we had set up pretty well with what is available to us and we're well worth the win. Thought the lads worked there nuts off. Really liked Kargbo and Hedges being on there correct sides offering a good balance, and even though raw and inexperienced I thought Alebiosu did well too. Birmingham never looked like scoring until we gave there goals and thats the most frustrating part. For me, I've seen this kind of team before at Ewood, done ok, nicked a goal, looked fairly organised before throwing it away. I have a feeling this result will set up how the season is going to go, we're in huge trouble.
  16. Positivity has to be based on reality otherwise it’s merely delusion.
  17. The disease that is the Venkys has many many symptoms.
  18. Unfortunately the dawn never comes here.
  19. We can all opine on what we would like the wage structure to be, all that matters is that the actual wage structure is and obviously that isn’t one that leads to our players signing new contracts,
  20. Based on what I've seen so far, this is what I think we would need to maintain 7th spot from last year. Backup GK, assuming Pears goes Starting CB Replacement for Trav. 2nd string CM Starting RW Striker (and not some £200k pickup) If we actually fancied improving the squad, you can add a LW and another striker to that. We're led to believe the club expects one (1) more new recruit, and to replace Trav. What should happen and what will happen are so far apart, that I question the judgement of anyone who tries to assert we're anywhere near the strength of last season. Unless the above signings are completed I'm pretty confident we'll be battling Wednesday for bottom of the pack.
  21. So the buck for defeats no longer stops with the manager, but with individual coaches. That’s a new one.
  22. Really? We have no points. We are easy to beat. We have lost the majority of our experienced players. We have no funds to replace them. That's the actual reality. Your interpretation of the facts as 'Looking like a... league finish in mid table' and 'if things click quickly' and 'a couple of quality (of) signings' ?? That, fella, is the epitome of 'rovers coloured spectacles' (pardon the pun). Somewhat over optimistic, if you ask me (which I know you aren't). I suppose you could argue that at least we are having our traditional poor run of results early this season, in August instead of December / January. No likey likey. VENKYS OUT!
  23. Nope. The RAO family and their pernicious and calculated campaign to kill our club through systematic withdrawal of financial support are 100% to blame. Everything else is a side-show to make us think we still have a chance. We don't ! Not under this lot. VENKYS OUT!
  24. I'm beginning to get it now. The Raos think that they can save face by running the club down to a point where from a business point of view they can say it is no longer a going concern. Therefore it can be shut down as such, without it troubling their tiny conscience. The alternative, to sell the club to someone interested in making it work, would involve too much scrutiny of the wrong-doing, the ineptitude, the facts and (crucially) the figures, potentially bringing issues to light in public that they would rather not be faced up with. So, what we are seeing is the further deliberate undermining of the football club, to salve the pathetic egos of people who long ago realised that they were in over their heads, had been duped and shown to be commercially incompetent, and who now (for a long time indeed) want nothing more than the embarrassment to go away. Fuck the consequences for the true 'owners' and 'stakeholders' of the club (i.e. US the supporters). Tell you what - the FA should introduce annual 'fit and proper' tests for owners, that actually require realistic and real benchmarks to be surpassed, and commitments to be made and honoured by those claiming to own the 'business assets'. Wankers. The lot of them. VENKYS OUT!
  25. Think you have to question why Birmingham get both their goals from experienced wide men running at defenders and either getting into the penalty area and causing panic - one wins a pen and one slides a cross across for a tap in winner. Our wide men - de neve, kargbo look nothing like causing such opportunities and chances. It’s simply lack of talent and experience in recruitment and it’s going to bite us in the ass like so many predicted. So toothless in attack , I really don’t see what our game plan is going to be. Try and nick a goal from 0. Something xg and then hold on for 30+ minutes. Always going to lose more than we win
