And they may have been closer. -
Some incredibly moving lines in that song. It's strange because in my head I'm watching the game sat in the stands ...but it black and white. The old boys playing their hearts out...grainy images of moustached gentlemen heading a ball, thousands of people crammed in waving their hats... then the pitch is empty. The stands are empty. Right back to work. Possibly the worst week in a while for a Rovers fan

My grandson is the same. I thought I knew a lot about football teams when I was his age but he’s like a walking encyclopaedia regarding who plays where and who for. I suppose we can thank the internet for that. He’s really keen but I think he’s got the resilience of youth to keep him going. I was the same age as he is when we dropped out of the old Div 1 in 1966 and I’d be in my early twenties when we dropped out of Div 2. In spite of that I never lost the faith back then. The difference is the club wasn’t being sabotaged by the directors regardless of us not having two pennies to rub together.. His dad is still a fan but he no longer goes, he watches us on TV. -

One does not need to have a moral fiber in one's body to see how the owners have held our club hostage for 15 years. -
Whys there a lump in my throat 😥 Those words hotdogs n beer resonate with me. me stood with a pint and my daughter eating a hotdog watching a club disintegrate. Before our eyes, feeling ripped off. Pissed off and out of pocket

Where are Rovers old grounds?
RevidgeBlue replied to StubbsUK's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Rovers ground is specified as "M" on the plan and the large "MNO" plot which is unspecified stretches up past St Silas's School. The K plot behind Cheltenham St. is specified as Fox Delph. (Old Fox and Grapes Pub?) It would seem from the Key the Church was already there (N) so In conjunction with the drawing that was also shown on here it looks to me like we have a fairly precise location for the ground. To me it seems as though the ground started somewhere around Leamington Rd Baptist Church at one end stretching up in the direction of Sacred Heart Primary School at the other end with the side boundaries between New Bank Rd and Leamington Rd on one side and between what is now Lynwood Rd and Wellfield Rd on the other side further over in the direction of East Lancs Cricket Club. -

BRFC - The Nostalgia Thread
rog of the rovers replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Things get so existential when Rovers are on a bad run, particularly under the current regime. This song has been in my head all week, its hauntingly nostalgic tone and Ol Blue Eyes singing his heart out. Has struck a cord, particularly the lines "Cos the old team just isn't playing...and the new team hardly tries. And the sky has got so cloudy, when it used to be so clear." The 150th Anniversary is almost making it all worse!! This time will pass.......he says in hope! -
The happy clapper phrase raises it's head again. If Venkys do ever leave, and those that have stopped going do actually come back, we could always rename Ewood. I'm thinking we could call it The Moral High Ground.

They aren't arsed about crowds or displeasure. If you ask me this latest project is the brainchild - or brainfart - of the finance director/Suhail and Rudy. Ismael is their man and all they want from him is a quick turnaround with a few of their cheapo signings so they can move them on and get commission. Sell one quickly for 2/3 mill plus add ons, move out a couple more of the higher earners left in Jan and they've covered their dwindling crowds lost revenue for another year. And i'm certain they are still stupid enough to think non of this will end in relegation the current results are just a blip. - Today

It's the price you pay for scooping up a load of players from less intense leagues. I'd also say the half time team talk and use of subs never seems to help. -

Thats why I am not having this idea that its just bad luck and that "the data" suggests that things will start going our way at some point. If you repeatedly find yourself on the wrong side of these margins. You consider our patched up defence, our total absence of goalscorers, our lack of experience and our poor manager. Theres a reason we keep losing. -

I heard it said last night that 80% of games in the Championship are won and lost by one goal. That is the competitive nature of the Championship and Ismael has to find a way of coming out of games with a win. No more hard luck stories of excuses as they count for nothing. -

Who is that funny looking man in the flat cap that he is stood next to? -
Anyone really believe that Venkys will sack the manager and pay out nearly 3 years dosh? I don't, and if they did the new manager would know he had the same squad. No splurge in the winter transfer window, only if we sell first!!!! So who of any use would take the job? No--things will have to get a whole lot worse yet. Falling crowds and bitter response from those who do go is all we have. And protests. Meanwhile there are plenty of fans saying "it's a new squad, we have to give them time." In the LT everyday.

Is there a plan for a protest? Similar to Readings protest which got international coverage? A mass walkout has no impact, a mass boycott might. A mass funeral of rovers might too -
