  1. Past hour
  2. Back on the wind up Earlier in the window you were waxing lyrical about Swansea's moves. They have signed some lad from Sweden who has a handful of goals; some 20 year old from Kilmarnock and a defender who spent his time mincing it in the lower leagues. Everybody else has interesting and ambitious signings - us, they are cheap, underwhelming and punts. I suppose if you always start with such low expectations nobody can call you out for being wrong like you often do with others eh.
  3. Maybe that will buy some tins of paint for the ground.
  4. So after being preached to for the best part of 10 years that we need to use our Category A academy more, use home grown players rather than pay for them from elsewhere, pathways into the first team blah blah blah we spent the whole summer doing the complete and total opposite of that and are now selling our academy graduates to the likes of Derby, Charlton and Peterborough after putting in years of development. It's almost as though we're just making it up as we go along.
  5. It's absolutely fantastic ๐Ÿ˜
  6. Not really no.Brentford and Brighton are not flogging off their best players for peanuts or allowing players to go for free or selling them to keep the lights on. A clue---they're successful.
  7. Equally, it could be the worst transfer window we've ever had. Far too early to say either way.
  8. What did you see in his game thst gave you that impression ? I alway think that if Iโ€™m playing against this player what do I have to look out for ? What I saw was a player who wasnโ€™t a handful physically, not particularly big, not particularly tricky with the ball at his feet, not particularly quick, no real โ€œ hold up โ€œ play to speak of, and when he eventually got a chance he usually fluffed it. I think ยฃ1 million is a great deal for us. They must have signed him going off memory because when did they see him play ? Obviously I respect your views mate, so weโ€™ll see whoโ€™s right before too long.
  9. Michalski and/or Goddard if Toth gets injured. And there are other youngsters who could progress as the season develops.
  10. Is this not us following the Brentford/Brighton model but scaled down? Buy relatively unknown, youngish players for lowish fees in the hope some are a huge success and sold on for multiple times of their cost. As much as was said otherwise it does appear fees received are being to some level re-invested
  11. Don't think the possibility that Lowe has made a long overdue departure is being queried more the fact that Suhail was seemingly unaware he was leaving or had left and apart from Ismael saying it, all other indicators are he's still employed by the Club.
  12. Time and results will tell. Look foward to 7th or above. Certainly saved on wages. Matchday will be interesting - so many permutations and changes. Going to be fun.
  13. I think a lot depends on when Leonard's started to stir. We were in for one striker before Leonard's exit became public so if Leonard's transfer has dragged on then we probably have that wage earmarked for the one. But if the deal has come out of the blue possibly there is enough for two wages. Please note how Ive not included the fee as we all know the fees dont effect the transfer budget.
  14. Mm, I wouldnโ€™t call that a gamble. Iโ€™m pretty sure how that will pan out.
  15. Tend to agree with you especially after the seriousness of his injuries but there is still a nagging doubt that this transfer we may regret .
  16. Would have loved to see Leonard come good, but I never saw anything, even when he was fit, which suggested he'd be able to cut it at this level as a first teamer. If we've got ยฃ1m for him with some add-ons/clauses then I think that's great business.
  17. These striker links are a little strange. Either we are just bidding for random strikers or Nixon is just throwing darts at a dart board. I cant for one second see us getting 2 strikers. One seems more likely now we are getting an unexpected fee for Leonard. And even if we did plan for 2, I would prefer to put any money together and just get 1. Neither of the 2 mentioned seem like anything other than cheap youngish punts with underwhelming goal returns in inferior leagues.
  18. I suspect harry is another was stood up to Gestede and his treatment of Lesley Fielding, as he seemed to suffer the same fate as Buckley and Travis.
  19. I used to work a lot in Iceland, and surnames are always 'Father's first name... sson'. If you look at the Icelandic squad listing, vast majority are 'sson' at the end, i.e. Arnor Sigurdsson. Not sure the reason for Gudjohnsen, but it isn't normal - unless the name isn't Icelandic (perhaps previous generations weren't from Iceland). A bit of additional trivia for you all. Women surnames are all 'Father's first name... dottir.' EDIT: Bit of research shows he is actually called Eidur Arnorsson. Gudjohnsen is just family tradition.
  20. Harry Leonard sold to Peterborough, for a ยฃ1,000,000. Somebody in the LT comments called Gestede a clown, we've had the best transfer window for a while at Ewood. Money in the pot with outgoing players, and some decent replacements brought in. I think the person who wrote it is the true clown. Well done Gestede under the circumstances.
  21. He said last season he'd walk away if he wasn't taking the team forward during this campaign. His interview after the Grimsby match made it sound like he was close to following through on that promise. Rumours that he offered to resign last season as well. Can't see how it ends well for Amorim at this point. That image of him cowering on the bench whilst his team lost a penalty shootout to Grimsby will haunt him forevermore. Absolutely brutal. Lose to Burnley and I wouldn't be surprised to see him offer to resign (either for the first time, or again, depending on who you believe). One of the most toxic situations I've ever seen, there. They underachieved post-Ferguson, significantly, but they're plumbing entirely new depths at the moment.
  22. I wonโ€™t matter how long they give him, or anybody else. The whole club has become unmanageable. The manager capable of bringing them success doesnโ€™t exist. Itโ€™s like the โ€œ Titanic โ€œ before it hit the iceberg.
  23. I had the same thought (although it's 'sen' at the end not 'son', so Eidursen), but Eidur's sons are all Gudjohnsen and so was Eidur's father.
  24. From a football perspective not sad to see Leonard leave, I think he has a good strikers brain but has been bullied more often than not when Iโ€™ve seen him. Can see him being a handy league 1 forward but itโ€™s good money if we can get it for him.
  25. Wharton called up for England squad. Weโ€™ll be due another windfall when he makes a competitive appearance for England. Hopefully thatโ€™s during the next international break.
