  1. Past hour
  2. Don't Wednesday have money problems too though? Or has that been resolved?
  3. I played at Ewood in a Football Aid game the day after the Deepdale win that sent us back to the Premier League. Souey was around the place doing TV/radio interviews on the aftermath of that game & he saw my sister with my nephew in the Blues Bar & made a beeline for him. My sister said he was lovely & noted “I’ve got one like that at home…!” before posing for a picture. I missed all this as I was showering after the game. 🤦‍♂️
  4. Only 5 league games for Rovers. I was only 1 at the time he joined so obviously never saw him play. A broken leg away at Plymouth Argyle did for him? Future Rover Nicky Marker? My uncle told me the tale of travelling all the way down to Devon with his mates in a minibus rented from Aspdens Coaches. After losing 0-3 they got back to the mini bus and set off home. Whilst in traffic they met with some of the Argyle fans walking home who proceeded to smash in the side window and crack both the front and rear windows also, meaning they had to drive seven hours back to Blackburn in March with the wind swirlling through the van! Furthermore they sent the mate who'd hired the van into Aspdens on the Monday morning in the feint, perhaps forlorn hopes of getting their deposit back 🤣😂
  5. Thank you.
  6. Who cares tbh. Is that what we measure it FFS. Scholes was a great player and highly rated by Sir Alex Ferguson, his team mates and opponents. No way is Wharton better and I would suggest him being an ex Rovers is tainted your opinion
  7. At least we got to keep Adam Wharton for a ‘good few years’, certainly wasn’t bundled out the door on the cheap after a few dozen starts (before he’d even turned 20).
  8. Regardless of any potential clauses, appearance triggers or anything like that, he must be our highest earner and the club will absolutely not be standing in his way if there is a chance to get him off the books. As you say, these types of situations have been consistent with the current ownership and it would not surprise me in the slightest if they have undermined the manager and told Cantwell to seek pastures new for the January window, to get him off the books.
  9. Today
  10. Yep but from their point of view it is nearly transfer window time and all that means is another opportunity to raise a few quid, earn bonuses and get the wage bill reduced. Top of the tree there is Cantwell. Probably top earner and likely to fetch a couple of million with 18 months left on his deal. The gangsters running the club will be salivating at the prospect of getting him out the door in the next 8 weeks and in one move meet their target. Reference to relegation suggests that league position/status is a measure of performance here, there's no evidence that anyone from ownership down has ever had any interest in league positions.
  11. Could be a payment to Rangers after so many appearances
  12. In the middle of a relegation battle and possibly looking at offloading one of our best Players? Its a fookin madhouse.
  13. No matter how substantial (or as is more likely, unsubstantial) Cantwells wage is in comparison to wages at other Championship clubs, he will be Rovers highest earner, and probably by some distance Agree, we will not renew his contract, and are waiting for the most opportune moment to sell I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if based on his early season form, someone has already done a deal with both him and Rovers for him to move in January, and as part of the agreement, Rovers have agreed not to to play him so he doesn't get injured
  14. or 44 league appearances Either way, 50 sounds like a potential trigger number, if one exists of course
  15. I’ve told you, you’re right, Adam Wharton is far better than Paul Scholes.
  16. Very best footballers like Gabriel Heinze
  17. By the way Ryan Giggs won it once in 20 years, Schemichel never won it, maybe, just maybe because it was an era of the very best footballers at that club which Scholes was obviously one of. But ok, if the metric to you is POTY over a sustained career at the very top winning everything in sight (I.e it’s a team sport) and you know, your own eyes, then fine, ‘Adam Wharton is far better.’
  18. Liverpool didn't start POTY till 2001, Rangers till 2007. Regardless, I never claimed that Souness was an elite footballer & one of the greatest players I've ever seen, like you said about Scholes that even Man United fans didn't rate that highly
  19. Second Division at the time, so like I said.
  20. Knowing this regime, I think it's something as simple as they didn't know back in the summer and all of a sudden in the last 6 weeks or so somebody has cottoned on that we're coming close to this being an issue. All too familiar with things like that happening here.
  21. He was Boro's player of the year in 1974.
  22. I'd be surprised if Cantwell was here beyond January to be honest. We've seen first hand over years now what the people running the club are all about and what their priorities are. Cantwell in no way shape or form fits the 'model' they are imposing and that's before we speculate as to his wage, which is rumoured to be substantial. No way on earth they are renewing or improving a big earner contract so they'll be looking at him, half way through his deal, and the question will be is January or the summer the time to sell? It staggers me that some people still seem to think this sort of thing isn't happening and that there's no way there could be more to it than meets the eye. There's been more than meets the eye on most of the departures over the last few years. Tends to be when it's the club and those running it trying to force people out to achieve their own agendas.
