  2. Travis couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag. He's always been a pound shop Savage.
  3. Really interesting insights from Andy and Kevin here about the impact losing Travis would have on and off the pitch, also touching on the wider issue of us not getting new deals done for experienced players. They sound worried about the season. Justifiably so.
  4. I don't know if being at the game gives you a more negative view, or if I'm just naturally harsh, but some of the scores in the BRFCS.com MOTM poll seem generous. https://www.brfcs.com/football/match/1386555/west-brom-blackburn You have till 3pm today (Sunday) if you want to add your votes.
  5. They imploded at the end of last season ,more serious financial problems in Sheffield it is not just Wednesday !
  6. Axel had one training session before being thrown into the starting line up. I’m not reading too much into his debut. I’m one of the few who thought Alibeouso (sp?) did ok. Beat his man and delivered a couple of decent crosses. One early in the first half went right across the box with nobody there to take advantage of it. Travis is going to go and I think that’s pretty obvious now. He will be a big loss in the centre of the park. Not sure he’s going to be easy to replace. I do wonder if Axel may be his replacement in there.
  7. Henriksson shouldn’t have started barely trained with the team poor selection from val
  8. Think he'll take a few games to get used to this league. Like many have said, he looked miles off pace, championship football will be a huge difference to what he's used to. Fair play to him getting stuck in though, I think he'll come good - Give him a month.
  9. Transfer window potentially turning into disastrous with the Travis departure - what happened to VI’s comments (only a few weeks ago) on keeping the squad together / continuity!?
  10. I wasn't overly impressed tbh either. I thought he was rather clumsy but as others have said its game one. Away from home and Axel has been thrown into the squad at last minute so there's a one game grace for him in my book
  11. I disagree, all the lads that have come in are big lads bar de Neve. Miller and Axel look like they like to put it about. We also have Gueye and the new CB who is 6ft5.
  12. Henriksson touched the ball 13 times in 60 minutes. He was lucky not to get 2 yellows. To say he was off the pace is an understatement.
  13. The replacements for outgoing players will be loans from PL U21 squads, cobbled together in the final days of the window. We all know from experience, those players have absolutely no impact other than filling a place on the squad list.
  14. I can easily see Henriksson playing instead of Hedges if Cantwell was fit.
  15. With who? No fighters in that team, especially with Lewis soon to be gone.
  16. I wouldn't read to much into that. Any outgoing replaced doesn't necessarily mean like for like. He's more likely inferring we have the budget for one more signing, then it's one out, one in.
  17. Who seems hell bent on dispatching every English player in order to fill out the squad with imports. Not wise, the Championship is very British in terms of aggression and stupid fixture congestion. Not sure how a lot of these lads will hold up on freezing piss wet November nights when things aren't going well. It tends to be your Travis types who pull you through that.
  18. I am sure that they are right on that
  19. Donnarumma available at 26 million can venkys push the boat out just this once?
  20. In the words of Jay Z - uh, everything's for sale - the only if about your favourite player leaving is the if some other club is interested.
  21. I was with a non rovers supporting friend yesterday. I said when Kargbo came on, this will be fun as he’s lightning but can’t cross for toffee!! After about 10 minutes he said that I had pretty much summed him up in one sentence. I would like to see Kargbo on from the start. Players a petrified of his pace. The fact he won three of the four yellows from WBA players yesterday is clearly something that we need to be focusing on. Im worried about us playing Birmingham city at the weekend. They could rip us to shreds if we play anything like that. Have to hope for a way better performance from us.
  22. First home game of the season is a League Cup tie & a chance to mix things up. Results against the Bantams since the 1980’s…
  23. Mafoumbi - I think Dave Whelan's words on the Raos' purchase of Rovers are similarly applicable to this lad's signing "doesn't sound right, and it doesn't look right". Myles Anderson Mk 2!? Travis - there's so much noise around his departure it seems inevitable. Not a world beater but feck me, Rovers are a far different proposition when Travis plays. Again, his replacement will be a virtually unknown, unproven and relatively cheap foreign import who may well not even be fit to play for weeks with his foot injury! Tronstad - another worry, doesn't look the same player as last season and at 30, are those legs going or already gone? Yesterday showed the importance of Championship experience when signing new players - McLaughin was steady without being spectacular but having two centre backs who are so slow is a huge worry. Needless to say - when a team is ripped apart and replacements brought in, it takes time to gel - when the bulk of those replacements are from overseas and unproven with little pedigree, it is even more highly problematical. Lose against Brum and we will already be in crisis and come the end of September, may well find ourselves already adrift at the bottom of the table. The warning signs are already there.
