  1. Past hour
  2. It’s really hard to judge against this quality of opposition.
  3. I know its only Latvia but we do look really really good. I want to see us play a genuinely top team - not done that since the euros final, and with the next nationals league not until September 2026 we are only going to get a competitive game against a top nation at the world cup. Annoying.
  4. No, but I was expecting to see the “ something “ that special players can do. Just now and again. I haven’t seen anything yet.
  5. Hes a great lad, but he has been standing still or going backwards for years so a move was the right thing. That said I think we got 1 million for him, and paid 2 million for Tavares. And as far as I can see Tavares is a very similar player to Buckley, but with the same flaws (loose in possession, not physically competitive, doesn't cover enough ground) to a greater degree
  6. Went to Saudi for the "project."
  7. Today
  8. Superb freekick. Glad he's enjoying it. Marking Ronaldo crazy times
  9. Winters forecast to be wetter...sort it out Rovers ffs!
  10. Lads eome specimen. What size is he?
  11. The question is simple. "Which 150 names tell the Rovers story? From 1875 to 2025…" ⚪️🔵 These can be heroes, villains, players, officials, owners, fans. Any person who you feel is integral to Rovers past, present and future - to go onto a DEFINITIVE LIST as chosen by BRFCS Members. For posterity, for lively discussion and debate…& quite possibly…merchandise 😉 There is currently a “shortlist” (!) of 225 names*. The Polls will be split into eight different eras. And will be open from Wednesday to Wednesday for the next eight weeks. Part One: The Foundation Years - 1875-1900 - (15th October - 22nd October) Part Two: 20th Century and Post World War I - 1900-1930 - (22nd October - 29th October) Part Three: Inter War and Post World War II - 1930-1950 (29th October - 5th November) Part Four: The Boomer Generation - 1950 - 1970 (5th November - 12th November) Part Five: The Seventies and Eighties - 1970 - 1992 (12th November - 19th November) Part Six: The Jack Walker Era - 1992 - 2000 (19th November - 26th November) Part Seven: The Walker Trust Era - 2000 - 2012 (26th November - 3rd December) Part Eight: The Venky's Era - 2012 - 2025 (3rd December - 10th December) Your job as a Forum, is to help us whittle down these suggestions by choosing who you think deserves to make our definitive list. You can vote as many times as you like (but we suggest no more than say, 5 votes per list), only the top voted names/figures will make the final cut. *This list has been created by myself and has been corroborated with the help of @Herbie6590 @4,000 Holes @Fred Cumpstey along with several other fans and commentators on and off the message boards. Thanks for all the assistance.
  12. I was, at times, slightly more critical than most of JDT's tactical nous whilst he was here. Nonetheless I understood he was an inexperienced manager learning on the job with us. First season saw some minor experimentation in play - second season felt like he was just being stubborn because the project had been undermined by the owners and he wanted to be sacked. Difficult to make much of a judgement on it. If he'd been backed in his first season I think we'd have made the playoffs, which would have been very impressive considering his relatively limited tactical flexibility. Alas, we'll never know. I appreciated his candour and always felt he was on the fans' side rather than the board. Wouldn't have done much for him professionally here, but it was nice to have someone willing to take the board to task (and deservedly so). His repeated jabs about the coach farce were particularly amusing. I was surprised he went to international management after us. Weird move for a manager his age with mostly club experience. In hindsight, the wrong move. Will be interesting to see where he pops up next. Don't think this will be his last job, and I assume he'll return to club management next.
  13. You were expecting a 'hat tricks in the top tier' level of player from him? That seems a bit much tbf. There has been hype but not that much.
  14. And up to recently I think Khan was ahead of him. I noticed today that he was more vocal than I'd seen before so perhaps that means his confidence is improving. I saw Honor play for Atherton Colls last season and from then to now there appears to be a marked improvement.
  15. Would be quite amusing if he ended up at Rangers after that press conference he did when Malmo manager 😂
  16. That is the best footage of our captain Bob I have seen to date...jock Simpson, another Rover, played in that game.
  17. Tomasson took us within goal difference of the play-offs - the closest we've got since coming down from the PL. Some of the football was beautiful to watch and he oversaw one of the best nights of football and excitement I've seen in many, many years in the FA Cup victory over Leicester City at the Kingpower. Fantastic. For that I'm grateful. Wish he was still here - working with a board that backed him
  18. Sounds very much like his time with Rovers. His inability to get the defensive side of the game right undermined his good intentions in terms of attacking football. Also sounds like the players lost confidence in him in the end. It would be interesting to see how successful he could be if he appointed an assistant who was a good defensive coach.

  20. A fair assessment. Seems crazy that Honor isn't rated higher than Goddard and Barratt when he's only 19!
  21. Not surprised he hasn't lasted and don't expect him back in English football. Nice guy but has no idea how to setup a team defensively.
  22. Yeah, the ultra possession "pep ball" period is coming to an end. Going back to a much more direct style. I think the watchability of the game should improve as a result. Long periods of suffocating possession by one side is not much fun.
  23. We played some incredible stuff under JDT, I just wish he’d have been less stubborn and more pragmatic defensively. Still, weird that people have some sort of beef with him, when he was, like any manager that works under them, hamstrung by the owners.
  24. He knocked the ball purposely out of play to allow himself to be treated and slams the physio got to him there was a signal to get a substitute on. It looked like a lower leg injury but I couldn't be sure. I did see him sat on the ground soon after with other substituted players so I presume it might have been precautionary. He was sat on the ground because there are no dugouts at the Preston Academy.
  25. From Rovers perspective this for me was the proverbial game of two halves. For the first 40 or so minutes we dominated the ball, passed it well, were aggressive, on the front foot and played at a good tempo. The two goals we got were in my opinion not reflective of our dominance. Those two goals were almost opposites with Doherty rattling one in from distance and Joseph with an easy header from close range. In a rare foray forward Preston scored a goal just before half-time but it certainly looked like a deliberate handball in the penalty area skirmish just prior. That goal seemed to rattle us and Batty spent some time with the match officials on the pitch after the half time whistle. All the good things we were doing earlier seemed to disappear as Preston seemed to sense our unease. However we defended stoically and Honor in goal is looking better every time I see him. It wasn't until the last ten minutes when Preston were bombing on that we looked like scoring again. In the end we were probably a touch fortunate but a win is a win. Aside from Honor Atcheson looked good I thought with Joesph showing some good strikers attributes although he does, in my view get overly involved with centre halves and plays on the edge in this respect.
  26. any idea what was up with mullarkey-Matthews? I assume injured
