I wouldnt actually be that bothered if Pickering left, I don't rate him at all defensively. Do we need him AND Ribeiro? That said I would never underestimate Gestede's ability to bring in someone even worse

We generally havent been very good with Tronstad in the side either this season. Getting Carter back in some sort of reasonable condition will be key to any chances of getting a result I feel. Worrying comments from Ismael about Cantwell. A "kick on the knee" should have been a minor issue and a short recovery time. Instead it's dragging on interminably. If he's OK one day and not the next it sounds to me as though either a) They havent diagnosed the injury correctly or b) Cantwell is swinging the lead until he can get a move in January. Either way I'd be slightly surprised if we see him in a Rovers shirt again. It'd be rather embarrassing if we lose two captains inside 6 months. Bit like head coaches.

Blimey, didn't realise he was 26 now! Time flies. Fair enough, still seems strange to drop from 3rd tier to 7th tier just because he missed half a season with injuries (but also the whole season prior I suppose). Would have thought someone around 4th or 5th tier would happily take a chance. A Premiership player in a similar position wouldn't have to drop to the National League typically, which is the same amount of tiers difference as this.

I can report that an old school friend knows the family. I asked what was happening with Pixie as he is known . Had it confirmed that their is substance in the opinion that he is being moved towards the exit due to his wage being above the new ceiling.

Nailed on home win this. They're doing well, have been very solid at Deepdale and will be typical Preston - up for it, physical, direct, organised and all round horrible. We will be nice and have lots of possession but get nowhere with it. Another downside to the 'project' of Gestede is some of these foreign signings won't know what has hit them in a Lancashire derby there. People who would have served us very well in this from last season - Batth, Weimann, Travis, Wharton - not here to be called upon.

Late to the party (sorry!)... My friend and I went to this - what a (surprisingly) enjoyable night - as good as I have seen us this season. We were also proud to make the Rovers photo gallery - though our respective wives mocked us for several days. For once, good times!

He was also a regular starter for them during their promotion season from League 2 (albeit missed half the season with 2 seperate injuries) so cant be that bad. Its his injury history more so than performances I think, hence the non contract move to non league to prove fitness & put him in the shop window. Similar to what Lenni Cirino did before getting a move to league 2

21 appearances in League One last season, to non-contract terms in the 7th tier is a hell of a drop. He must have been utterly dire in League One.

I have no confidence at all in our medical team and if I was Cantwell, I'd be asking to see a top notch orthopaedic surgeon. Ismael cited the size and pace of Derby as the issue and he felt Hedges would be better at coping than either Riberio or Pickering. And tbh, while we were well beaten on Saturday in other areas, Hedges seemed to handle BBD and his general defensive role well enough. I dont think Pickering or Riberio playing instead would have made much difference. Agree it must be very depressing for Pickering and Riberio. Ismael is a very physicality focussed managed, and I think he is not a fan of those two.

Baradji won't appear until they've got someone else out the door then they can pay him as he plays. Just wait and see.

What's the injury situation here? My guess... Toth - out Wharton - out Kargbo - out Carter - back? Cantwell - back? Baradji - no idea With Cantwell if hes back I wouldnt be that adverse to giving him a go up top alongside a striker. We are running the two we've got into the ground, and Cantwell has a bit of physicality this season. Something like Pears Miller. Carter. McLoughlin Alebiouso. TGH. Tronstad. Hedges Mori Ohashi. Cantwell Means we at least have a recognised striker on the bench which i think we need to close games out.

Iv'e thought more than one recently that financial control of Rovers may well have been wrested away from the 4 loons by the VH group finance dept and/or their lenders before it brought the whole lot crashing down. The cost cutting and cashing in ramped up undeniably since another of their finance men was stuck on the Rovers board. If i were them i'd be recommending just what a good idea it would be to grab some money back from a sale of the club and write off the debt alongside future losses.
