If there's nobody already lined up, I'd see how Johnson does over the next couple of games, I wouldn't give it him for the rest of the season outright, but I'd be tempted to assess how he does as we go along. He will definitely have the goodwill of all the fan base right from the off.
-
If the rumours are true, no one’s lined up and we haven’t got a clue what to do. Would anyone normal - or not completely desperate - actually consider working for Suhail/Gestede?

Can someone explain to me what's happened to our club. 15 years has been absolutely horrific. However the last 2 or so years it's absolutely dropped off a cliff. Rudy got a lot of power compared to previous people? -

I don't think we really need to be concerning ourselves with selecting someone the fanbase can 'get behind'. Results and performances will take care of that. Minor issues such as 'style' of play, past clubs, nice man, nasty bugger, alignment, all go out the window in an emergency situation. Johnson has no record as a manager and has shown no appetite to be one. This club is on the precipice of a long, long stay in the lower divisions and probably financial implosion. We need a safe pair of hands, urgently, who can somehow find a way of getting us above a point a game from now until the end of the season. I don't really know who, much less which would come and work for these buffoons, but that doesn't equate to Johnson being the best option. -

Tbf, he/she is only recycling what fantasy merchant Nixon has claimed I think. -
I’d take rowett at this stage an outside the box choice but risky- Jens berthal askou hard no to any former Blackburn manager - that includes jdt and Mowbray. who I think we will get- Johnson until the end of the season

and credit to him for that. -
Sparky would be interesting. Absolutely fantastic for us bur for nobody else But he left frustrated and I can't see him lining up with Venkys again.
-
Ideal world, Rowett. But we all know it'll be Judan Ali or someone of that ilk.
-
So we need a new man (or woman) pick up the reins until next February Who would you want? Who do you expect? For me I’d take someone like Rowett, not exciting but could be a steady pair of hands, failing that a fire and brimstone type manager on a short term deal. I said in the other thread and I’ll stick with it, I expect Darren Moore; not yet linked but cheap and available. Could see a return for Sparky as a potential one to watch as well

He joined us because he couldn't get a game at his previous club and was out of contract in the summer That said, hope he exceeds expectations -

You seem to be very excited today Josh in replying to my posts, is that the third or fourth time? Nothing more constructive to add to the discussion than wanting to prove me wrong, or get me to admit I was wrong, with my prediction that Ismael wouldn't be sacked? If it makes you feel better about this whole sorry mess then I'll give you what you want. P.S. we still don't know whether he was sacked, it's a toss up between what the Club and Nixon have said. -
Just because he may be seen as the cheap and easy option, doesn't automatically make Johnson the wrong option. He's probably the best option right now for all the fan base to get behind.

Credit to Afolayan for joining us. I hope he can stay fit and have an impact. Many players wouldn't have touched the current setup and at least it's another body in the forward area with more pedigree than the likes of De Neve and Henriksson. If we do go down I hope it rids the club of Gestede, Pasha and the owners. I completely underestimated the damage Gestede would do when I said last season he shouldn't be included in the protests. He's majorly responsible for this disastrous season. -
Time to start a new thread for manager speculation? I’ll keep this one open for Ismael chatter

He left us for a club in the relegation zone whilst we were in the playoffs. Modest investment and contracts for players who deserved contracts is all that was required. I'm confident that we would be in promotion contention again if he had stuck around. His decision has been completely vindicated though and good luck to him. He saw that joining a team with a bit of ambition was far better than sticking around at a club who are doing well but lack any leadership or credibility. -

As much as I'd want a JDT return, there is no way his style of football works with the players we have now. It would be a disastrous appointment right now. -
That was when the teams came out. Proof yet again that when you peel the lid back they are no different to us or anyone else around here.

If JDT was willing to even contemplate a return they should crawl over on their hands and knees, admit they got it wrong and beg him to return on the promise of appointing a decent DOF of his choosing and a workable transfer and wage budget -

1. Below average squad 2. Sat in relegation zone 3. History of selling best players without re-investment of funds 4. Owners aren’t interested 5. Player contracts rarely renewed 6. Inexperienced ex-player dictating decisions 7. Wage budget capped at unrealistic level 8. Arguably the best player (Tronstad) is going to walk on a free in a few months Could go on, but there’s eight reasons why any manager who wants a career in football management wouldn’t want this club damaging their CV and career. -

Hughes - no - his time has been and gone and he's managing in the National League. Wouldn't even get a mention in any conversation were it not for his links. It's almost at the point where I expect Carlisle would be grateful if we did take him off their hands given their faltering promotion bid. JDT - ridiculous suggestion after what happened last time around. Svensson - know nothing about him but a look at Wikipedia suggests nothing in over a year since a short failed spell at Union Berlin. Not at all sure there. Wagner - maybe a bit of a huff about not getting the job last year when he was linked? Or maybe he's just a very astute bloke who can see what a disgrace this club is and wants nothing to do with it. If I didn't know better I'd say they were prepping the ground work for an extended Johnson spell in charge. That's the cheap and easy option which is what this lot are all about. Some might be fine with that due to ex-player syndrome but I don't think we can be so flippant with our Championship status and that applies regardless of tomorrow's result in a must-win game. Nixon mentioned something on Radio Lancashire after his ridiculous Souness suggestion about Lee Bowyer - I think he knows something there or has heard something. That's exactly the sort of name we'd be speaking to and he knows it. -

Exactly - it’s not even realistic shots in the dark. Twitter clickbait shite. Should never be shared here. Same with the supposed “rovers insider”… Both examples of universal credit lads with time burning a hole in their pocket. -
No one half decent would surely want to work under Gestede? RG has no credibility whatsoever.
