  1. Past hour
  2. A hugely disappointing end to what I thought would have been three deserved points. In fact I fancied us to get another goal but it just wasn't to be. It was a difficult decision for the referee to make and it was a darned if you do situation for me. Personally I would have toughed it out but the referee will undoubtedly cite players safety as his reason and I fully accept that as frustrating as it is. There is no hard and fast ruling here - it's simply down to the referee. What I would criticise was the poor communication via the PA system. In the game I thought we were once again really good all over the pitch and took the game to Ipswich and didn't let them settle. Defensively we were solid, in midfield we were industrious and creative in equal measure whilst the attackers out a really good press on the Ipswich back four. It's such a shame that the performance will not be rewarded by anything but the real positive for me after that is the way we played which gives me plenty of hope.
  3. We got one into the ground today…perfect for storing your sunglasses, sun cream…etc 👀
  4. Embarrassing again from yourself. My prediction was correct until game was abandon. 1 nil Cantwell
  5. The ref should have carried on the game with 10 mins to go. The pitch wasnt worse than that Portsmouth game in league 1. McKenna wanted it calling off and them celebrating an abandonment just show that club up for what it really is. When they went off it wasnt get going again. On the game,.Rovers played very well overall, it was definitely a red card and stupid play from Greaves. The penalty was clear has day, well taken by Cantwell. Its good overall performance and one we deserved all 3 points. We would be 10th now. Toth made 3 good saves first half. Ipswich had good quality going forward but defensively can be get at and scored against. Miller overall good at centre back. 1 or 2 moments of poor play. TGH played well with Tronstad. I hope the EFL board award Rovers the win and play common sense here.
  6. Just before the ground was fully redeveloped..remember it well stood on the old Nuttall st Enclosure.
  7. Being positive, that was a decent performance.
  8. So McKena engaged in some gamesmanship. So what? Boot on the other foot and Ismael did the same then we would all be lauding him and having a laugh at our opponents' expense. It's painful but it's a feckin professional sport not a Girl Guides' Jamboree. Think all the blame lies with our owners and executive management who, IMO, continue to sell the club short with their crass management
  9. It was the 3rd of January 1994. I was there (as a 10 year old), watching Jones and co doing Klinsmanns on the pitch through the gates.
  10. And their manager went mad about Rovers players exaggerating their slips and falls, in order to get the game abandoned..
  11. I might have been better informed as to whether or not they game had been abandoned if there had been a reporter there, that's why I believe it is relevant to this thread. Don't you think.
  12. Embarassing. After a quick look at one of their forums they aren't happy with performances so this might be a season highlight. And I didn't realise Will from the Inbetweeners was an Ipswich fan!
  13. 2025 - today's game called off after 80 minutes due to a waterlogged pitch 2024 - Rovers v Portsmouth postponed due to a waterlogged pitch 2022 - Rovers v Millwall postponed due to snow 2021 - Rovers v Swansea postponed due to a waterlogged pitch (2 days after this game Rovers release a club statement acknowledging issues with the pitch and blaming 'extreme weather' and a high number of games 2012 - Rovers v Brighton postponed due to a waterlogged pitch Now I'm relying on the power of Google and my memory but I cannot recall a game being cancelled, abandoned or postponed due to the weather prior to 2012 in my lifetime, and I was born in 1990. Maybe someone can confirm if I am not correct there. Let's focus on games affected by the rain or snow. There has always been a river running past the ground into which the pitch drains and yet strangely this didn't seem to be a chronic problem for 20+ years, it seems to have become a major issue, particularly in the last 3-4 years. I'm sure that some will claim that this is because of 'climate change' and we are suddenly getting a lot more wet weather than we used to. Or maybe it is actually because Rovers have failed to invest adequately in maintaining and improving their facilities, which I think is pretty evident from a simple visual observation of Ewood Park, and this is one element of it biting us in the arse. Edit - our match with Aston Villa in the Cup in 2010 was postponed due to snow and ice
  14. Did we have one called off mid game away in league one? I wasn’t there but feel it was somewhere like Gillingham in absolutely freezing looking conditions
  15. I was still in the old Nuttall St stand at the time so I doubt it was.
  16. Like everyone I expected the worst with the massive turnover but still to see any real discernable deterioration compared to last year. Obviously could change when injuries come in etc. But balanced against that we are yet to see much of Gudjonsen and Baradji. Toth alone is a massive upgrade on Pears, and TGH was very decent today. Really like Mori and Alebiouso, McCloughlin.
  17. We played at Leeds Rd Huddersfield 83/84 in a snowstorm and that was worse than today ! But we won 2-0 !
  18. That was actually in the Prem era - around 1993/4.
  19. Me too! I was telling Bill Fox to get the ******* off the pitch!
  20. I do not remember one abandoned , once had an away game abandoned at Luton 75/76 ice bound pitch , New Year game.
  21. It'll be this seasons designated £10 a ticket game....
  22. Very well - a big upgrade on Tavares.
