  2. What happens when we've been beaten by Derby, fans are up in arms and it's pishing down with rain? They expecting people to hang round another 90 mins to watch some has beens and never beens play? No chance
  3. The thing is, you can't really know at this point. Players can falter or accelerate in their development rapidly. At one point, Grant Hanley was considered a superior prospect to Phil Jones. Adam Henley was allegedly being scouted by Real Madrid after putting in corking performances against Manure and Liverpool. We didn't need Zidane because we had Tim Sherwood. Obviously we can't sign them all up, but we should be signing up the most promising ones, and the ones handling their current level best. Not just the ones we currently think are going to be Championship level.

  6. For clarity and frames of reference this project started in the summer. Thanks to The Lancashire (Evening) Telegraph, BBC. The Books of Mike Jackman, Harry Berry, Dean Hayes. The FA and Scottish FA websites, Spartacus Eductaional, England Football Online. The National Football Museum and others who have added personal oral histories. I'd also heartily recommend and thank the Staff and volunteers at Blackburn Library and in particular their website http://www.cottontown.org Under the guidance of Mike Sumner they Break down and add more detail to the nominees and other figures of each era from 1880s-1990s. Huge thanks to Mike. https://www.cottontown.org/Culture and Leisure/Sport/Pages/Blackburn-Rovers-Players-1880s-to-1990s.aspx
  7. Id say tactically we can probably have two different forward lines depending on if Kane plays or not. If hes on then prioritise runners like Gordon, Morgan and Rashford to get beyond him. If he's out have Watkins doing the running and have more technical players in behind like Belligham and Palmer. Its all about reducing the congestion in the number 10 position. Seems daft to be so dependent tactically on Kane but his scoring record is ridiculous and getting better, so we need to accommodate him.
  8. Dunn & Tyjon are the most likely Joseph, Vare, Sergeant, Decandia & Leatherbarrow have not looked out of their depth at U21 level thus far (especially given that they are all 17/18 years of age) and must surely be worth a year or 2 on a pro deal to see how they progress
  9. Who was in charge of the Rovers under 21's?
  10. Its what suits the team more than just individuals. We seen this all before we tried fitting Gerrard, Lampard, Hargreaves and Carrick into a starting 11 instead of dropping one or 2 or changing formation
  11. Think his performances have shown he is level above good and given how he has performances were last season, England under 21's games this summer and his performances for England
  12. Hmmm... Think thats a stretch. But Italy won euro 2020 without standout attacking players, though they did have a brilliant keeper and defence. And obviously Greece in 2004. Good teams are as important as individual talents imo. Sides that combine both are what you want like France 1998 or Spain 2008 to 2012.
  13. Im not that convinced by Bellingham personally. As hes always played abroad Ive not seen much club football from him, but like Foden in an England shirt he doesn't really seem what we need. Morgan has been a lot better suited. It would be refreshing if we stuck with what works rather than big names. Hopefully it would incentivise Bellingham to adapt his game too to fit in better.
  14. Who in the class of 24 do you think would be Championship level players in the years to come ?
  15. Yet despite an outstanding goalscoring record for us Byrom never played in the top flight again after the age of 22 in 1966. Why was that ? Injury, attitude ,opponents rumbling a weakness in his game, switch of tactics in the game to 4-3-3 ?
  16. There's a really weird fanbase on socials - I think all clubs have it, but it has me pulling my hair out. I saw comments like... "Worst manager we had in the 15 years of Venkys" - erm...Hello Steve Kean and Owen Coyle "Made Eustace look good" - Subtle dig at Eustace too, as obviously it's never the common denominator (ownership/board) that are to blame At the end of the day, by all metrics, he got us closest to promotion and closest to a Cup trip to Wembley than any other manager since we were relegated, and that was all in the 1st season before the powers that be wanted to put a stop to it
  17. Bobby Moore said Byrom was the second best British player he ever played against and he played against some top class centre forwards.
  18. Not sure on the best fans in the world stuff, but his criticism isn't of England fans in general or how well they travel. It's specific to the atmosphere at England's home stadium. It isn't great there; there are lots of reasons for that, but I understand his observations.
  19. Yeah as mentioned earlier in the thread, the time here for JDT has been and gone. Does make me laugh all the snide remarks you see about him from Rovers fans on social media etc, like he was a huge problem for the club. There's times where I think the owners hit the jackpot with parts of our fanbase unfortunately.
  20. Not without a budget of at least 10 million i wouldn't. Personality wise though he was a breath of fresh air.
  21. You're forgetting the fabulous suggestion of naming a training pitch at Brockhall after him instead.
  22. Just a scholarship contract, which expires at the end of this season Nobody from the "class of 24" has signed a pro deal yet, but that wil of course save Rudy & Suhail a few pennies in the here and now, and will have no possible adverse effects at all 😉
  23. FCUM have refused to get involved in the NPL's decision to change kick off times to suit live broadcasting. Their reasoning for me is absolutely correct.
  24. I was staying in Camden for a long weekend a few weeks ago and I got talking to this bloke in a pub. When we'd talked about football and which teams we support he mentioned that his mate from Eton is currently very excited because hes a goalkeeper for Old Etonians and he never thought he be able to play on a pitch like Ewood Park and against players like Pedersen so I'm happy that these lads will get this experience too. It's a long way to come from after all.
