If both Wharton and Toth are unavailable I’d be happy with that starting line up. Who would be captain in those circumstances ? I thought Wharton was doing a good job in the role incidentally. -
Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach

Seven games between the 21st November and the 13th December will be the tester of the resilience of the squad... and that's before the standard new year meltdown. -
Bad tackle from behind, got up, my knee felt a bit odd but OK and tried to play on, then I collapsed in a heap. Damaged PCL. It was my last ever game of football, never played again. Hope Toth is OK

Another bump for this today - we've now sold 290 of the 380 copies available which is incredible, so thanks a lot for the interest and positive feedback. Expect it might sell out at Saturday's match but it can still be purchased ONLINE HERE or via EBAY HERE. -
Yep, always a worry when there is nothing in it at the time. Really gotta hope he's not out for the long term.
-
If Toth is out for a while, it may not be the end of the world. What would be required, is for Pears to stand up and prove that he is a professional goal-keeper. I hope if called upon, he can do that.
-
when it happened @rog of the rovers said the same to me & I recall Shearer playing on for a short while after he did his. Looked innocuous but…

I don't just like to see how they thought they played but thought this was funny -
Hope to God I'm wrong but please don't let it be an ACL injury. It looked so innocuous at the time but those can sometimes be the worst.

Two wonderful performances in four days for those of us who travel to every away game. This was very much a game of two halves. In the first, we played some great stuff at times and dominated the home side. In the second half we showed a different side to our character with a really dogged performance to defend the lead and grind out a result. There can be no doubt that these players are definitely playing for Ismael. One could see at the end the relationship between players and manager is a close one. Defensively we look so more solid and the players are putting their bodies on the line to block shots and make tackles to keep the opposition at bay. Scott's brilliant diving headed clearance with a boot heading towards his head being a perfect example. Scott is playing out of his skin and the moment and for me is the perfect captain. Two players who seem to get a fair amount of stick were outstanding last night. Hedges makes this team so much better when he is in it. Playing with a back three you need wing backs who can attack and defend and last night he was non-stop in doing both. The other player was Forshaw who was excellent when he came on in midfield. He used his experience to anchor things in midfield whilst also getting forward. I must admit that Gardner-Hickman is really growing on me and is a real workhorse in midfield. Up front, Yuki and Gudjohnsen are beginning to look a more than decent partnership. Yuki just never stops and is the very definition of a ninety-minute player. The injuries to Toth and Scott are a worry but, hopefully, the international break has come at the right time. Six points from the first four days of November is a wonderful return. -

Hedges certainly suits the wing back role more than being a winger. He still isnt very productive in the final third but there is less onus on that in this system and he plays this position as if hes played it lots before. -
Is it a horse-race ?

I thought the injury time was inevitable due to the injury to Toth, and to a much lesser extent to Wharton. Alebiosu I think got a slight touch on the ball, although it looked to be just outside the box anyway. -

Looking ahead to Derby I think Id go Pears Miller. McLoughlin. Pickering Alebiouso. TGH. Forshaw. Hedges Morishita Ohashi. Gudjonsen Just look to get forward down the right and defend on the left. Bring Montgomery, De Neve, Henricksson for extra energy around the 60th-70th minute. I have include Forshaw as I think Montgomery and TGH are a bit too similar in how they are most comfortable getting forward, and we will need someone who can drop off and calm things down a bit in the middle. If we had Toth and Wharton id be optimistic, but feels like our defensive confidence could be quite fragile. First goal even more crucial than usual. -

Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
roverblue replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Agree with others in that since a move to 3 at the back we look much more comfortable and he seems to have stumbled into his best formation rather than it being by design. However 3 wins on the bounce has given me hope we will at least put up a fight to stay in the league as it looked like we were going out with a whimper 2 weeks ago. Outside of this managerial ability the squad at his disposal is as poor as it's been in years so when the injuries bite it could quickly go downhill again. -

What are the sizes like for this one? is it the same skin tight sizes that Macron normally make? I fit into a large but prefer a shirt to be a bit baggy so I get XL. With Macron however, I need an XXL in order for it not show off my belly. I'm hoping this material fits more like a normal footy shirt. -

Thought Hedges has really come on leaps and bounds (short ones!) Since last season credit where credits due he's really working hard down that side and I was mauling him last season. Definitely more room for improvement but he's been OK 👍🏻 -

I think Rev has a rather curious view of some players performances and sees things somewhat differently to most of us 😄
