  1. Past hour
  2. Beating Grimsby...it's not for everybody 😎
  3. Pasha does not have a clue about football, that is quite apparent. i believe after all the talk about Wharton leaving for relative peanuts in this day and age, he thinks he’s doing the fans a favour and asking for more cash. he won’t know that Wharton is destined for big things and to be fair Leonard is probably heading towards his level. let him go and build a decent career and get a new striker in the door.
  4. Is Andri Gudjohnsen on his way to Rovers now? 🇮🇸
  5. Paul Weller - Above the Clouds From his eponymous first solo album 33 years ago. The lyrics would stand alone as a beautiful poem about self doubt. Still in Weller’s live set to this day. Class.
  6. We’re such a clown show. Feel bad for Leonard. Gets his chance at first team football. A relaunch of his career. Likely bitter sweet with the years he’s spent at the club, says his heartfelt goodbyes…then some c^nt who know fuck all about football walks in and says we’re not selling you. Back to the bench and the 21s until we get another £300,000? A rounding error in modern football terms. In the end I hope we loan him out so he gets to play everyday. The kid deserves a shot to kick start his career.
  7. And played with a bit of pride. What he lacked in natural ability he made up for in work rate. Man Utd fans had a snobby attitude to McTominay but he's what they need and is the complete opposite of what they've filled their squad with. Maybe his reputation suffered from being paired with Fred for so long. Wasn't an inspiring partnership.
  8. That Aynsley Pears dad was a good keeper perhaps we should........
  9. Feel for you guys. Russell Martin's brand of football is awful and he's an arrogant pillock to boot.
  10. I remember saying that on here one Saturday morning and it turned into a several hour long row and i think resulted in a ban. I'm in no way a clairvoyant or expert judge but to me it was bleeding obvious how he was operating. Trouble is some thought the nice guy image. the promotion and his principles he always banged on about meant he was above constructive scrutiny and questioning. There were plenty examples but one that sticks out like a boil on the end of a nose was how he let Smallwood sit out his contract sat on his arse in the office at times and refusing to go on loan or play for U23s all because he knew he already had a fresh gig lined up. Then between them him, Venus and Waggot even gave him an extension into the covid period even though he'd previously been told he'd not be picked again. Shocking stuff really and although i do have a lot of respect for him the saint Tony stuff never washed with me. As Rev said, a crafty old goat.
  11. Today
  12. In fairness to Tony Field, although we signed him 'only' from Southport (think the fee was another £20k?), if my memory is correct, he was still in his early 20's, had clocked up 100+ appearances and was a 1 goal in 3 games forward. Wouldn't we snap a club's hand off for something similar now!?
  13. You can’t really redefine “x player is not up to it” when they’ve played less than an hour in the league.
  14. The Brown cow on Livesey Branch Road. Use J3 on the M65.
  15. Madness to sell McTominay. He should've been their Darren Fletcher. Steady, high-performing, loyal player that the team or squad is built around. A puzzling thing about Utd is they don't seem to have successful youth development. Arsenal have brought on Nwaneri, Lewis-Skelly and now Max Dowman, in past few seasons, but can't think of Man U players, albeit, I don't follow them much at all. Their transfer policy is, needless to say, poor. The most obvious signing in the world, in my opinion, was Kvaratskhelia, before PSG got him. A player like that, with, admittedly, a functioning team, is clearly of an elite level and with his attacking, exciting style, lifts a club.
  16. Always street parking where we park around Wilson Street BB24AR 10 minute walk
  17. People keep re packaging criticism as ‘abuse’ and saying players are being abused, when it just isn’t true. The link with that to players being ‘written off’, was people re defining words to suit arguments.
  18. That podcast perfectly demonstrates how we wasted five seasons under Mowbray, IMO. He had no winning mentality and was happy with his lot. Happy to develop players, spread nice vibes around the place and plod along. If promotion happened, brilliant. If not...no problem. He said himself in that interview, that he "wished he was nastier, a winner". He says he wished he could have woke up one morning angry and decided to ring the owners and tell them "we need more money to do x, y and z and go for promotion". However, to do this would go against his nature and principles. 1) Firstly...how the heck does having a desire to win equate to nastiness? Are all people who want to win 'nasty' or 'bullies'? Remember, the following were also his words just before his exit from the club: "I hope they don't appoint a bully next, who just wants to win all the time" Broughton also espoused similar when he talked about needing to weigh up a 'win at all costs' mentality with mental health of the staff and players. These guys are in the wrong business. This game is all about trying to win, or at least it is supposed to be. This, 'let's all be nice', sounds great over tea and biscuits, but it doesn't cut it in reality. It's one of the reasons why our club has been like this for the last 15 years. It's one of the reasons why England haven't won't anything since 1966. Nice guys and mediocrity being embraced like a comfort blanket. 2) Secondly...why would he need to wake up 'angry' one morning in order to ask the owners what was required regards extra funding? What's anger got to do with this? It's quite simple...and this isn't me being a smart arse online. If I'm sat in Mowbray or Pasha's position and I genuinely want promotion, it takes one phone call to Balaji to politely state the case to him for extra funds and to explain the promotion picture. He's either saying yes or no to the request. End of. What is disrespectful or against principles or against Indian culture about such a question? You're trying to get them a £150m jackpot whilst returning the club to where it belongs. Big Sam was also clearly of the same view as me, as he basically couldn't believe Mowbray didn't ask out of principle. He says to Mowbray "you'd only be asking the question, not demanding...if you don't ask, you don't get". To which Mowbray mumbles "maybe it was a failing on my part". It seems to me as though a few freeze when they see and experience the pomp and grandeur in Pune towers. I think it then becomes a case of gratefulness for the invite, for the hospitality and for everything they do for Rovers. We couldn't possibly ask you for more. It would be disrespectful. This same attitude has been displayed by Pasha, Waggott and Mowbray. Bollocks. They own the club. They relegated the club from the Premier League and it is their duty to put this right. We're still waiting. The idea that asking them for extra funds would be disrespectful, is bloody ludicrous. What a joke. Mowbray played a big part in holding us back in this Division. A nice guy, probably. Good for Rovers? No. I don't compare him with Kean and Coyle. That's no barometer. Let's compare him with Souey and Hughes to get a true picture. He's nowhere near.
  19. I'd bet money on the deal being done before the widow closes.
  20. To be fair his dad would be our best player these days.
  21. It was a flippant comment meant as a joke, in support of Leonard. No more, no less. That's why I said you didn't understand the conversation. It won't be the last comment to snowball out of all recognition but there you go. We haven't even got to the end of the window yet.
  22. I would not be surprised if Leonard was nearly agreed then Pasha tried to squeeze Posh for extra by leaking it to the press via Elliot, and then MacAnthony just said screw you and backed out.
