Michael Vaughan on BBC was saying its time for Stokes batting 3 in the next test. With Will Jacks to bat 6/7. Pope should be drop. What do people think? Any regular county watchers who can say who are the up and coming opening batsman/number 3 in the county scene?

Venky’s (& Suhail) Out Protest Ideas

Waggot was brought in to just squeeze every penny he could out of the limited means he had. His whole career was based around that as was his philosophy which he'd already stated in various early interviews. Squeeze what you have till it pops...and it did. However at times he did have leeway in the budgets some of which was spent well on fees and wages but equally as much was wasted. Mowbray was also part of all that both good stuff and not so good. Slippery Steve though was brought in for those specific reasons in the first paragraph and as time went on his and TM's methods weren't really taking us anywhere other than water treading. It seems the owners were happy with that for a while then got fed up and taking the usual bad advice thinking they could pay less but get similar for the money the cutbacks began. This is where Steve & Suhail were in their element, easy money until cracks obviously formed in that partnership. One wanting frees/loans/cheap deals but experience and bigger wages. The other wanting youth, potential but small fees AND wages plus cuts to cheaper across experienced club staff as well. Including Stevo and now here we are, no mans land but as JH hinted at removing Waggot whatever his limitations etc has removed the one bit of football stewardship experience there actually was there. Suhail, long been my opinion, now with Rudy are just a pair of agent stooges. -

Thanks for confirming. I think I meant automatic relegation but forgot to be specific. Even if we aren't automatically relegated, these horrible owners will probably ask for us to be relegated again at least one more division to 'find our level', we'll soon be running round on public parks playing against pub teams. - Today

I am looking forward to seeing us recover then similar to how healthy we were in the Venkys years before he arrived. To say that he specifically is the architecht of the downsizing of this club is absolutely ludicrious even for you. He may well have played a small part in enabling it but come on. -

I am a bit confused who is actually available on this one? I would really consider going four at the back as I think without Hedges on the left 352 to doesn't really work. And that's going to get even more difficult when Alebiousu goes away.... And we can give one of the strikers a bit of rest. A thought that has occured to me is if we should go 433? Might suit us a bit better than 4231. Pears Alebiousu Miller McCloughlin Riberio TGH Tronstad Cantwell Morishita Ohashi De Neve Subs : Michalski, Pratt, Pickering, Baradji, Henricksson, Tavers, Gudjohnsen, Gueye, Tyjon? -

He's the last of the famous 5 (Tronstad, Travis, Hyam, Brittain & Dolan) that we really needed to keep hold of and build a team around this summer. Plan seems to be working well so far............ -

Tavares seems to me to want to be the sort of player Nzonzi was. Technically good, deeper midfielder, who picks the ball off the defence and picks passes. But as others have said that really relies on being very aware of where players are around you, have really good ball control on the turn to find space, find the right pass and off the ball be physically competitive, and close down the danger. On all those he isn't anywhere near it. What I find absolutely unacceptable about him (as does Ismael obviously in leaving him out of squads) is he doesn't seem to even try and do the basics well (i.e. cover ground, be aware, get a tackle in). I have seen a tiny improvement from him in the last couple of games.... but the issue is even when he tries a bit he is so far behind play. It would be a really remarkable thing if he can get up to speed. -

Rock bottom of the 4th division without a single point. They were deliberately relegated two divisions and it's very soon about to be 3 divisions. (Edit- I dunno whether there's relegation this low down the women's pyramid. I'm guessing the damage is so catastrophic that they won't recover from this for years, our name is complete mud in the women's game, we're more likely to fold). Is that what our owners think of providing opportunities to young women in the sport? Our billionaire owners who love our club. -
Only loan I could see being recalled would be O'Riordan. He can cover at centre back with Wharton and Carter still out, would allow Miller to shift to RWB if needed also. I still think we'll just shove Hedges at RWB and be done with it.

Not having a go at you, We're pretty much in full agreement on everything overall. The only thing that's changed imo is since Waggott left the veneer has slipped slightly and we see what a husk the Club really is. He sat there in the 3 stooges interview defending everything that had happened and endorsing the lunatic policy of "transition" this season. He supposedly wanted another year on his £500 k plus remuneration package. He was CEO when they failed to back Eustace. etc etc -
We have a few players already in that category !

Thought this also. Just wonder if Waggott is sat watching this unfold laughing his bollox off. Sweet revenge for when they hung him out to dry before the media regarding the 'we listened to Steve and cheap tickets dont work' blame game.He looked far from happy imo. -

Oh I agree, my views on him have been made clear many times. Just from the perspective of the remaining regime, thrashing around as they are, I imagine things were much much easier for them when they had the shield of a Waggott there to absorb the boos and complaints and a Mowbray type figure to sit in the dugout and deliver competent results whilst tolerating their rubbish. Now without those two or even a JDT / Eustace to diver attention to results they're struggling big time. -

Don't think they were bots as such but there were definitely some people who had clearly been paid to be Pro-Venkys, ultra positive about the club early in the season. Remember having an "argument" with one about Eustace being a better manager than VI. He was on my case a lot when Derby were below us but dropped off quickly after Derby got their act together. -

You're mistakenly assuming Venky's cared enough to micromanage Waggott's every decision. He could have gone down a completely different route and tried to grow the Club long term to meet his financial targets but took the exact opposite strategy of trying to steadily squeeze more and more money out of an ever diminishing fan base. Every Club he's been at temporarily tanked under his stewardship then recovered thereafter. More baffling attempts from you to exonerate anyone other than the owners from any blame whatsoever.
