  1. Past hour
  2. The £5m fee was certainly a bit of an albatross around Gallagher's neck. If we'd bought him for £500k you'd say he did quite alright for us over the years. £5m though, especially back then, was a lot of money and at this level should mean somebody able to come in and have an instant and sustained impact. But yeah, playing him out of position likely held his development back quite a bit. He was never going to be an effective wide man. He didn't have the skillset for that. He should have been coached in how to use his frame to good effect up top. He was never going to be a lethal scorer, but he had the potential to be a nightmare for defenders to deal with. Instead he just drifted into mediocrity before injuries done him in towards the end. Diaz would have been worth the £7m to Venky's if we'd sold him for profit (and it's down to pure incompetence that we didn't). From the team/fans pov I'm not sure he was ever really worth that. He did have two very strong half-season purple patches, but when he lost confidence he was hopeless. A £7m player in the championship simply can't be a confidence player, they have to be effective regardless. When he was lacking confidence he barely registered a goal or assist for multiple games. You'd also expect a £7m player to be able to pull a team up by the bootstraps and he didn't do that either. If the team played badly, so did he. Again, if we'd paid less for him you'd say he did alright for us in the end. £7m for two half season purple patches, though... not so much. With that said, some fans made a lot of money from his 20 goal half season, so I'm sure they consider him a success!
  3. hearts extremely well organised and incisive on the counter attack,i think this is definately their year, provided they can handle the continual run of attritional games with everyone going all out to stop them ,hibs up next which certainly won`t be easy
  4. Hearts apparently the first team to win four consecutive games against the Old Firm since the mid-80s. Fair play. One of the biggest obstacles for any underdog team to overcome is dealing with the pressure of facing a team with a big reputation. It's a psychological barrier rather than strictly talent or even form related. Definitely suggests they're the real deal this season.
  5. I get that it is personal choice. The coalition are appealing to that personal choice Nobody is insinuating there’s going to be some miners strike style “scab” assaults if you do decide to buy a pint. It is an appeal It would make it less likely Sodexo continue with their pisspoor operations at Ewood if they don’t meet their margin It will probably work like that. Sodexo will make get cost back, and then make a fee on top and have a share deal with the club for the rest. It will be open book. If they don’t make their margin, I suspect Rovers will have to pay Sodexo up so it covers staff, food, transport costs etc and then fee Not buying in the ground will absolutely impact BRFC commercially
  6. I think I agree with that. I don't think we were troubled by Millwall really but by the same note we rarely create chances unless they are gifted to us. If we can improve in that area I think we'll be fine, but it'll take more than this result to convince me we're safe. Under Coyle SG was reasonably good and I'd hoped on his return he was going to kick on but we never really played to his strengths. I don't think it helped that we paid a relative fortune for him and then played him out of position for years - that money on him and Diaz could have been used much more wisely (Diaz came good but then we fumbled the sale).
  7. if cash had made that mistake in a sunday league game,he`d have been hogtied and shoved in the shower with the taps on cold😁
  8. What a goal by Rogers
  9. villa and utd appear to be playing a testimonial 🙂
  10. Fully in agreement that Ewood Park has been neglected and needs much care, but comparing it to the murder of a baby through abuse is either a ridiculous exaggeration of what is going on at a football club or downplaying an evil and vile act.
  11. Today
  12. Yes! Or inconveniently the Sweet FA 🤐
  13. The foreign teams would give him a better chance to stand out for the national side too.
  14. need to pick his best 11 and formation and stop moaning. They were very passive against Liverpool
  15. he`s got them more organised than martin had them, they need to get rid of half their squad though,a lot of them ar`nt very good, hence they are struggling in the spl of all places🙂,their position says it all
  16. I see Frank has been reduced to tantrums over referees and VAR already. I would humbly suggest your team just needs to be a bit more disciplined.
  17. Good to see Hearts doing so well. Nancy has been a disaster at Celtic Has Rohl did ok/good since his appointment at Rangers?
  18. The trouble is that the social services equivalent is probably the FA!
  19. that happens with every transfer we`ve ever made under venkys ,we did`nt see any money from rhodes, armstong, wharton, szmodics or any others we sold for big fees, they`ve barely kept the lights on either, the **** won`t even pay for a decent pitch,it`s so bad they won`t even pay for sky sports in blues bar, where has all the actual money gone????,they`ve received untold millions from player sales, the poor managers have received hardly anything
  20. I think we'll now see this club flogging off all decent young talent to Prem and other clubs U21's. We'll never never get near to another Adam Wharton now they've discovered another revenue stream at that level.

  22. Well beaten Rangers today 👍
  23. My main disappoint with him is that once the tribunal sets what we get for him (appearance/sell on fee etc), it will be Venkys that will use that to keep the lights on for a few months rather than it being used to benefit the team
  24. Former Rovers player Ally Macleod trying to explain Scotlands loss to Peru in the opening game in World Cup 1978
  25. i could`nt care less if he develops into the next zidane,i just hope he fails miserably and ends up collecting glasses in the bigg market😊,is he really a standout talent???personally i think he`s just another teenage hopeful who thinks he`s better than he is,certainly got no stand out ability that makes him a certainty for regular first team football
