neekoy Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 Great news, better he is a Rovers fan but now someone who can continue Jack's legacy and continue to finance us. Can't believe there a negative feelings about this really, we ahve to be the most pessimistic supporters going around, we can never be happy can we.

stuwilky Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 This him? Could well be den, the Cambridge University connection.
Paul Mellelieu Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 According to the site linked above he graduated in 1996, making him, assuming he didn't enter college as a mature student, around 30 years old.
Sanny Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 Great news all round... has there been any indication on the transfer budget sparky will be likely to get?
Beta Ray Bill Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 and this? You're a bit slow, den! Bob Fleming posted a link to the first site, and I did this one an hour ago.
den Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 First question: will the £67m be handed back to the club?
den Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 You're a bit slow, den! Bob Fleming posted a link to the first site, and I did this one an hour ago. OOps, sorry.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 Great news all round... has there been any indication on the transfer budget sparky will be likely to get? Steady, steady! we're not even 100% sure its him
RevidgeBlue Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 Not too clear what the source of the money actually is from reading that People article - wouldn't have thought that American guy who was born in Lytham has 67m plus limitless funding for transfers sloshing about. And they make a passable job of making Walter Hubert sound like Tony Soprano. Guess we'll have to wait and see what transpires.

Sorry Rev maybe i'm misreading your post but I couldn't see the apology to Kamy anywhere? Considering you slated him as an attention seeker when all he did was pass on info which was accurate i'd suggest it's you who is the attention seeker and you owe Kamy an apology.
thenodrog Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 First question: will the £67m be handed back to the club? Why should it? gazsimm ....... Lytham / Ex-pat doing mega business Stateside / Jewish connection through Hubert ........ Sounds a taj like like Ray Ingleby!
Krillin Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 Great News that he's a Rover and the use of 'Nuttall' for the name of his company is a nice touch and something that underlines his feelings for The Club. It does seem that Kamy was right about the local fronted takeover. Looks as though Mr Hubert has contacts with the money people in America having also introduced Ray Ingleby to burnley. (Hopefully 'Dan The Man' will prove to be a better fan/investor than the dingle's own millionaire backer who, to the best of my knowledge, has done precisely nothing for them). If Williams is the sole money man we may have problems as I'm not too convinced about the report that he is having to sell his investment groups in order to raise funds ('sold everything to buy The Club, so there's no money left for transfers'?). However, if Williams brings in other (and more) wealthy backers then we could be onto a good thing with another True Blue at the helm. As a fan it's obvious why he's into it, I just wonder what he has said to/promised his backers to convince them to part with their money and join him. Cautiously Optimistic just about sums it up for me, as a new chapter in our history is about to begin. Uncle Jack made his own dream come true within 4 years.....what Price Rovers being Premiership Champions before the end of the decade?

Wasn't Ingleby's main intention to float Burnley? Scuppered by Kilby's desire to own Gawthorpe and t'turf I guess.

A true gentleman! Well done Rev, apologies for jumping to the wrong conclusions are as rare as hens teeth on here.
den Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 Why should it? Just wondered if that was the way of Williams/JT getting cash into the club. The Jersey trust has previously written off rovers debts.
Eddie Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 Eddie, with regard to fair and even-handed moderation, you can't make posts like that. Fair enough.
thenodrog Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 Just wondered if that was the way of Williams/JT getting cash into the club. The Jersey trust has previously written off rovers debts. Now (for obvious reasons) I'm no expert on the type of accounting employed within the Walker trust, but one prominent family member has just recently become a tax exile in a small european principallity. Rather similar to Jack Walker's move to Jersey during the sale of Walker Steel. I dont know enough to speculate yet if there is any relevence.
Eddie Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 I have to admit I that I would be a bit disappointed if the money wasn't somehow given back to the club. I don't think Walker would have tried to drive up the price of the club and get good money if he thought it was the right time to move on and that he had found the right person

Rather similar to Jack Walker's move to Jersey during the sale of Walker Steel. I dont know enough to speculate yet if there is any relevence. I was told (and I've no idea if there's any truth in it) that said exile was necessary for a specific period of time to avoid a 6m tax bill. Unconnected with any potential or forthcoming sale of BRFC. You're right though, there's no reason at all on the face of it why the 67m should go back to Rovers. (What a price btw compared with the 43m paid for Villa)
thenodrog Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 Tis strange but the first time I realised we were up for sale was when Tooting created this thread. You need to pay more attention to the posts of a 'T' SAR. I think I pointed out on here that we were definitely for sale just before Romanov bought into Hearts in 2004.
USABlue Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 I think this is the same guy as Bob mentions: includes a picture Oh dear, a capital venturist, not so sure I like this. My company was just taken over by a similar capital investment group. All bottom line oriented. People screw 'em. how much can we make. They've been here thrity years? screw 'em the numbers don't add up get rid. They have all the knowledge of our product? who cares they cost too much get rid. They cleared out the core of the company wothout regard to any impacy, that said we are returning to profitability, point I am trying to make is that it seems the Dollar sign is well and truly all they look at, aggressively. That sort of thing is how it goes at least with this capital investment group. And a red head to boot Having read the rest of the thread now now him being a Rovers fan has eased my worry a bit but when it comes to business groceries are groceries. If I am reading correctly the sale of this gives the funds to the Walker trust, effectively severing Jack's legacy th eonly ties to Jack then become the ones left in our hearts. I just hope this all works out, there is potential for disaster here if it is not handled appropriately. I too hope JW is kept on.
thenodrog Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 I don't think Walker would have tried to drive up the price of the club and get good money if he thought it was the right time to move on and that he had found the right person If the wheels fall off it'll be typical Walker business to buy it all back for a song. Anyway this amount does only represent 2 years TV money. btw Does anybody know if Brockhall is involved in the sale? I'd wager it is not.
tcj_jones Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 Amazing news. I'm absolutely delighted. Exactly the right men to take Rovers forward into a new era. Let's get things sorted asap and bring Bellamy back to the club.
