STIFFY Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Roberts does seem to be getting some harsh treatment oh here. Granted he did'nt have the best of games. His annoyance at the end of the game appeared to come from the fact that everytime Derbs got the ball near the box he had a shot trying to reproduce the Middlesborough strike. Not a bad thing but on at least one occasion Roberts was in a better position.

Trapped in Leeds Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Saldy I can see us loosing Benni too late to sign a replacement
youandwhosearmy Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Saldy I can see us loosing Benni too late to sign a replacement nah i dont think hughes would let that happen
Wolves_Rover Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Why would we sell Benni now at the last minute when we've had the whole summer to do so?
Gav Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 The Defoe rumour is being thrown around by the Spurs fans to try and convince themselves Utd are not going for Berbatov because they're getting Benni. If we sign Defoe then Abbey will eat hay with a donkey, then plat sawdust.
gazsimm Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Why would we sell Benni now at the last minute when we've had the whole summer to do so? United now need a forward, might be the answer
spencey7 Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 nah i dont think hughes would let that happen Sadly it might not be up to Hughes though - Money does talk. I remain petrified that we'll lose Benni. He's still our best striker and he and Santa Cruz have the potential to be one of the best partnerships in the Premier League. McCarthy would be absolutely IDEAL for Man Utd, but here's hoping that either Fergie sticks to his word and they sign no-one, or they go for somebody else. A mate just informed me that Jan Huntelaar is in Manchester??? Roll on midnight. Please stay Benni...
joey_big_nose Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Why would we sell Benni now at the last minute when we've had the whole summer to do so? Maybe he has told Hughes that he wants to leave and Hughes has decided, if Defoe wants to come and all the money works out, that trading a jaded Benni for a hungry Defoe is a good deal. I would be inclined to agree. But this is all based alot on speculation. Wheres Nikco. He must be able to say whether he has heard anything or rubbish it?
LeftWinger Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Wheres Nikco. He must be able to say whether he has heard anything or rubbish it? Nicko must be busy today - wonder if he'll get chance to come on here.
nicko Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Benni McCarthy was given the night off. I would not read anything into it or be too concerned. I am more worried about the fact that Shefki Kuqi is going to Wolves from Crystal Palace. I have quite a decent chunk of mrs nicko's summer holiday fund on Wolves winning the Championship.
Ricky Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 As much as i'd love to see Benni stay I think it's clear that he's not worth a place on the ptch if he's not up for it. His last season at Porto was a disaster as he didnt want to be there. Defoe would be a good replacement for him and could be deadly with Santa Cruz. Personally my first choice would be a happy Benni, second choice would be a hungry Defoe

Heard anything about Defoe? Was he at the game yesterday and whose in the hunt for him?
nicko Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Let me be the bringer of good news... David Bentley is in the England squad.
AggyBlue Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 I have quite a decent chunk of mrs nicko's summer holiday fund on Wolves winning the Championship. Oh dear, looks like it'll be a caravan at Southport for you then
Mozzer Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 what time is the england squad annouced at??? bentley in england squad, thats brilliant..
Flopsy Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Let me be the bringer of good news... David Bentley is in the England squad. but the imbecile will still play Jenas ahead of him mutter mutter
LeftWinger Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Nicko - any truth in Preston being interested in Gally? A PNE fan at work was asking.
nicko Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 but the imbecile will still play Jenas ahead of him mutter mutter If McClaren picks Jenas on the right wing then it will be strange. Funny how things work out, mind you. It was a brave thing to blank the under-21s, but it could also have meant a long wait for a call. Then everybody else falls down, including his hero Beckham.
Eddie Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 So nicko, as far as you are concerned there is no truth to the Defoe/Benni situation?
nicko Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Nicko - any truth in Preston being interested in Gally? A PNE fan at work was asking. It's been mentioned for a while. He could always go after the deadline - loans to Championship can happen about a week into September.
nicko Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 So nicko, as far as you are concerned there is no truth to the Defoe/Benni situation? Not to the best of my knowledge.
revolutionrock! Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Not to the best of my knowledge. Would rather have a young English striker than a grumpy foreigner
nicko Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Would rather have a young English striker than a grumpy foreigner Hold on. Would Defoe quit Tottenham where he is third/fourth choice to come to Blackburn where he might not even play? Is he THAT good? You have one of the best striking quartets about. Why disrupt it? If Roberts's head is down it is understandable, but he will have to swallow it. There are going to be lots of games, his chance will come. Again, look at some of the awful deals being done elsewhere and walk around with a silly satisfied smile on your faces for a while...
youandwhosearmy Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 id love to have defoe if Mcarthy does leave then he would be an amazing replacement however i dont believe any of this will happen
